  • Nice camera! I got an Edixa-mat Reflex S-L (with a Travenar 50/2.8) some time ago and intent to try out analog photography. I cleaned it but just found out that I need to change the light seals, I have to read up on everything as a beginner.

  • @visualdarkness I'm practically a beginner too since I don't have much time to read up on cameras, with university work and all. But it's pretty exciting tinkering and discovering new things about analog photography. Glad you got a sweet camera! Though I don't know if it would be a good starter for a first-time analog user. My first camera had a built-in light meter so adjusting the exposure was no problem.

    Oh and happy holidays!

  • @snesaddicted I think it's a good training for me to learn how to guess the exposure with my eyes. The previous owner (I guess he's dead as it was a girl that sold it, probably a relative) have written loads of text about how to get a proper exposure so it should be possible. In worst case I got my DSLR as a meter.

  • @visualdarkness I actually didn't have a light meter when I first shot with the Edixa and it turned out alright (eggcheeks.tumblr.com/post/4747819710/i-dont-care-if-mondays-blue-tuesdays-grey-and). I used my dslr a few times as a meter too. But yeah, I agree that it is great training. Maybe you should make a photo slide of your shots sometime! :)

  • @snesaddicted Oh, and happy holidays to you too!
