Could someone explain me why you would need a C major harmonica for G blues?

I know how to play blues guitar and i found it pretty odd, i thought it would be good for A minor?

@jshawn777 i have a 24 holes harmonica too, you have to know that in that kind of harmonica you have to count 4 holes per note, i mean 2 holes up and two holes down. And when you know that, is like you have a normal harmonica, the hole 4 that he is explaining here is in your harmonica, just count the holes in 4 holes to get in to the 4 hole.

One thing thats confusing me is I know to use my C harmonica for blues in G but why wouldnt it work for blues in C ? I'm pretty decent on guitar but the main thing lacking is my music theory haha. im trying to take the harmonica as a lead guitar part. soloing over a backing track.

@cedricleecason When playing crossharp (a C harmonica and the jam track or accompanyment is in G) the notes on the harmonica tend to blend very easily, the easiest are the 3 blow/draw, 4blow/draw 6 blow/draw and 9 blow. You'll never go wrong. They'll always fit in with the music and sound good. You can do alot with just 3blow/draw and 4 blow/draw and sound like an expert..YOu still have to practice. The 2 draw is probably the hardest to get but worth the time to learn.

@Gaz07 it may not work with all harmonicas, if You are not used to do it. But with the so called "blues harps" (e.g. from brands like Hohner, just ask Your harp dealer) also beginners can do it easily.

Bending depends mainly from how You form Your mouth, tongue etc. during inhaling the air.

You could try it with speaking, whiles pulling the air - e.g., You could try to say "eyou-eeeyouuuu" or "d-eeeh-yoooouu" or anything like this, whiles inhaling ... ;-)
