  • Hey sir good work on this catapult. I need to know for a school project if it could launch a tennis ball 2 meters long and 1.5 meters high. The catapult has to fit in a box that is 50 cm by 50 cm by 50 cm that's why I need it to be farely strong. Thanks.

  • @epicfantasy do you have any catapults that use a string as a trigger?

  • maybe he's planning on using the catapult to launch the cat

  • hey sir really good work. for my school project i need to be able to launch a ball bearing from 1m- 6m of a distance can this catapult do it? or do i need to make a bigger one?

  • @kaab00m11 This catapult will do it easily.

  • @epicfantasy and another question where can i get the string that you are using in the video. you are using nylon string right? and which alternative for string can i use? also what can i do to change the range between 1-6m?

  • @kaab00m11 This should be good for your requirements, more than enough. Try any kind of string or twine you can get. Paracord works good too. Try anything.

  • can this catapult launch from 8m to 10m?

  • @Spatty95 yes

  • @epicfantasy can this shoot a golf ball? and how do you tie the string again i didnt properlly understand

  • @MrSmokeythedragon yes, and I have a video that shows how to wrap a torsion catapult.

  • @epicfantasy lol ya i realized as soon as i sent the message but great video you got me a 100%

  • @Spatty95 yes

  • thanks but can i ask if the range is constant or is it different every shot?

  • @metalblade40 it's close to constant. because the tension of the wound string stays the same. You would have to test it.

  • will this shoot a tennis ball ten feet.? This is for a physics project.!!

  • @AlliyahJackson01 Yes, make the cup big enough for a tennis ball though.

  • how far should the catapult shoot when the string is pulled at it's tightest.please reply asap, needed for physics project. Thank you!

  • @titaniadjjewels 8-10meters

  • range?

  • we meet again 240p!

  • like the wyvern

  • thanks you helped me out heaps much appreciated.

  • how do you do the string i just bulit it in 2 hrs an you didnt show how to do the string

  • @pyperanxaviersmommy2 I have a video that shows how to do the string or rope. Try searching for " HOw to wrap the rope on a torsion catapult" that should find it. It shows a close up of exactly how to wrap.

  • can you use a rubber band for this

  • @ivorvra Yes but use a bunch of them.

  • how do you screw a nail ? lol

  • Can this catapult work for a physics project in which a marble should pass a 5 foot tall table that is 15 feet away and arrive at least 30 feet away?? Sorry for my english! help please!! I need this urgently !!!

  • @Igneris17 yes

  • Can this catapult work for a physics project in which a marble should pass a 5 foot tall table that is 15 feet away and arrive at least 30 feet away?? Sorry for my english!

  • lol

  • thank you so much

  • how much string did you end up using? like how long?

  • will this shoot 5 meters?

  • how do u do the string part?! its the monst important part in the video why didnt u tell us how to do the part! omg

  • @crazyjawakid I have a video just for the string part. Check for a video on "How to wind the string on a torsion catapult".

  • @epicfantasy How far does the catapult shoot the marshmellow ?

  • Hello, what is the best capatult to throw a cristal ball 10 meters?

    Thank you

  • I personally like the hook latch trigger.

  • How far can this catapult (with it's size) be able to project things ?

  • 15/64ths.... what the hell is wrong with americans why would they use such a dumb system when metric is so easy, yes im american and yes i use metric when ever possible

  • Awesome!I used a design similar to build my science fair project!

  • i made it and it was AWESOME!!!!!

  • can you use hot glue instead of nails or screws?

  • @Jamband1999 Maybe, But I don't think it will be strong enough. You could try it and test it, then go with screws/nails if it doesn't hold. Lot of tensionn on this catapult.

  • @epicfantasy Okay thank you!!

  • 1:08 did u hear the cat

  • if you move the stop arm down will that make your object fly farther?

  • @abc123dGG up to a point most likely

  • hey

  • Will making the arm longer help with the distance the catapult can shoot?

  • @rockon828 Yes definitely.

  • Is there a way to adjust the distance the catapult shoots?

Let's say I want it to shoot 6meters, 8 meters, and 10 meters...

    thank you so much!

  • @lavenderlover13 Yes, the tighter you wind the catapult the further it will shoot.

  • About how far can this shoot? Because my science teacher require it to launch about 4 meters. And is there a way to adjust the amount of torque? Because i don't want it launching too far :P thanks

  • @u2todit4me Yes, this will launch four meters and the tighter you wind it up the further it will shoot.

  • Badasssss

  • at 6:00 thats wat she said

  • @clarkcheck XD nice one

  • if you want to see some real catapults watch punkn chunkn and our team roman revenge shoot 10 lb. punkns a kilometer

  • owww mashmellow in my eye

  • @james44409 lol

  • Can you use glue instead of screws and nails?

  • @TheKnightCast yes! and glue gun works pretty good too. just be sure its all nice and dry before using it. The torque of the catapult puts a lot of pressure on it.

  • Iv got a science project due In like a week and I dnt knw how to make a catapult! Amy help? It's supposed to shoot 3.2-3,6 meters acurately, Any help would be awesome!

  • @emoprepboy I have a whole lot of catapult projects here on my channel and on my website. Just google "Catapult Crazy"

  • @emoprepboy wow same thing i gotta do a catapult for my science project and its due in a week man maybe u go to the same school as me

  • Whats your website?

  • how much do you expend to make this

  • Comment removed

  • @Isaacljw42 money

  • Comment removed

  • I'm working on one between two wooden fence posts it's gonna be awesome

  • imagine if u made the basket out of metal and took a cotton ball soaked it in lighter fluid or rubbing alcohol or gass ( sumthing flamible) and lit it on fire then launched it so it a fire ball ahaahaha tht would look awsome at night

  • Can u list the exact things you need to make this catapult??

  • @tony7754 I have complete assembly instructions for this catapult on my website.

  • Hey, I am making a catapult for a science project, on average, how far does it shoot? Thanks!

  • @Theguitarguy97 The distance of this catapult will vary a lot depending on how you build it and how tight you wrap the string. This one easily does ten meters.

  • whoa.... at 1:09.... thought i heard a cat. is that why it's called a "cat"apult?

  • Dude. Do you think that everybody hawe those supplies?? Its easy to make it when you got supplies. srr. But its a good tutorial. :)

  • Be pretty good for medival project thats for sure but the making might be dangerous for 12 yr olds. ha and did I hear a cat near the first 1st minute?

  • waist of time (wot)

  • @NWAGF learn to spell noob

  • What are the dimensions of each part, it's for a history project and if u could lay it out like this.: Before May 28,2010 please.

    length.:

    width.:

    arm.:

    etc.

  • @camman499 Nevermind

  • @camman499 I have a complete tutorial on how to make this catapult, with parts list, dimensions and assembly, on my website :)

  • why??? would you want to build one?

  • Nice video, can u pleac answer my question can this catapult thro a tenis ball 10 feet?

  • feed ur cat, it's hungry! xD

  • how do you torn this on what can pley soccer not i m jeje

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!! this helps alot for my dynamics class!! ^_^ great tutorial

  • i dont get how you do the string part? like i did it the way your vidio on how to do it but it didnt like do anything. it just fell.

  • @missmarissa93 I have a video that shows you exactly how to wrap the string or rope. You can do a youtube search of "How to wrap the rope on a torsion cataputl. The video id is: PRSBKm1encM

  • @missmarissa93 maybe u r torcing to the other way

  • awsome

  • hi! thank you for making this video, but i still need to ask some questions.

(i have looked at your website, but i could not find these answers) umm well how big is it? because i need for mine to fit in a 12x12x12 cube, and also how far would it shoot a large marshmellow? thanks in advance

  • The longest dimension on this catapult is 12 inches. You could trim it down a quarter inch so it would be sure to fit. Hard to say how far it would shoot a marshmallow. Depends on how you build it. Maybe 15 feet is a guess.

  • thanx i built a sweet catapult for my school project!!

  • 1:07 miu

  • nice i live it

  • thanx for FANTASTIC VID! can u plz reply to my question, what is advantage and efficiency of this kind of catapult??? and is this ballista or just a simple catapult......(on google, they list a lot of catapults, and i m kind of confused!) ur help is appreciated

  • I have a complete assembly procedure for this mangonel on my website. stormthecastle. if you google torsion powered mangonel my web tutorial comes up as first search listing..

  • dude ur awesome!

  • This is great, how long did it take you to figure out how to make this one? lol i know i ask that on a lot of your videos, and I'm sorry, but your videos, and creations are really cool.

  • ok i built one for a science fair and after it i tightened he string as tight as i could get it then i went to shoot it and it had so much power the cup that i had nailed into

the end of the arm flew off! so it is a great catapult thank you so much will

  • hear the catapult TENSILE not lost in time

  • thank you for this video i am making this for my science project !

BUT right now i am trying to string it together but what i dont understand is how your supposed to wrap it around the pegs and the tutorial you made doesnt make sense because the pegs are upright whereas in the real model they are on the sides of the catapult! please please help i have untill friday! :( so, how are you supposed to keep the pegs on the side without covering the holes?

  • HI! I have created a video on how to wrap the rope on a torsion catapult. CHeck it out! The video id is: PRSBKm1encM

The title of the video is "How to wrap the rope on a torsion catapult"

  • how do the dowels to tighten the string not unspin

  • i kno lemon head

  • @ 1:08 i heard a kitten

  • you sound pissed

  • This is great!!! I needed to make a catapult for my science project, and this was the perfect how to video. I just got done making mine. I'll send you pics! Thanks alot!!!!!

  • does the string ever loosen up? it shouldnt because the dowels are there..

i built one and it launched 15m yesterday

but today it only reaches around 12m.. and i didn't change anything!!

  • how far can it shoot

  • DUDE UR THEE BeASTTTT, I LOVE YOU. thanks sooo muchhh :D im rating and subing

  • how big does the wood need to be if i want to make one i cant hear it because my mic sucks...please reply back if you know the size(height and width) and was that a cat at 1:10

  • I have a complete web based tutorial on my website. You can get all the info there. stormthecastle, look for the catapults link at the top of the page.

  • how far did the marsh mallow went?

  • I can't remember exactly, I have a video of it on my channel somewhere. I believe it was around 15 feet.

  • Hi! I was wondering as to how you made the throw arm stay in an up position.. cuz my partner and I tried wrapping the rope around the throw arm but the throw arm remains on the ground :(

  • When you twist the string the arm will go up. If you already twisted the string then you went in the wrong direction with the twisting!

  • hey cool

  • nice.....reminds me of when me and my dad made a Batista.

  • Thanks! I am definitely going to be making one of those.

  • this is awesome!! thank you very much sir!

  • You are very welcome. Thanks for watching.

  • hey, great!

If you have some time could u help me?

The thing is we have to make a catapult for a physics project and i really like your idea. However, it has to be able to throw 10m +, can this do tat? and if not what should i modify? the heigh, teh base, wat?

Tanks in advance if u can help me :), great and simple idea btw, i loveit

  • also, btw, the mass of the object is around 22 grams, its a wiffle golf ball if u know what that is, once again, any help would be highly appreciated :)

  • You should make a bigger version. Double all the measurements! And it should really be good. I have some bigger catapults on my website.

  • Hey! This is actualy really cool! But, It wasn't very clear how you put that string in there, well.. not clear enough for me. Please, Could you explain?

  • Thanks, It is a bit difficult to see how to wrap the string. I made a video to show exactly how to do this. The vid is called: "How to wrap the rope on a torsion catapult" You should be able to search and find it or look into my catapult and siege engines playlist.

  • lol no rubber bands....but power tools?

  • lol, thanks for poointing that out, I guess it's kind of ironic :)

  • MEOW!

  • great job you give an idea to how to spend my free time and my watermelons, thanks!!!

  • yeah yeah

    its the cat

it is angry cuz hir master/boss/feeder

is making his stupid catapult vids again

instead of give it some attantion

i call ythe cat it cuz its not normal that a cat talks

also its not normal that a big guy making such a small catapult

    realy cool

  • lol "Cat" a pult. I am making a very big catapult. Bought some serious 4x4 lumber. Going to be the size of a car! Should be fun. lets see what the cat says about it!

  • WOW

  • can everyone just watch the video and not talk about how you thought you heard a fucken cat or him say butthole or whatever.

  • lol it says small but hole at 1:17 lol.

    keep clicking it.

  • rofl wanna c sumtin funny?

    1. move ur mouse until it says 1:17.

    2. keep rapidly clicking

    3. laugh ur head off at wut it sounds like.

    4. u should hear him saying "butthole"

  • so true!!

  • I heard buttcrack, but whatever...

  • Yes, because that obviously sounds alot like crack when he says "howl"

  • @TheCoolguy1254 haha!!

  • @TheCoolguy1254 haha sweet also he even says ''butthole first for less chance of cracking'' HAHAHA!!!

  • lol notice when he shoots it it sounds like it hits sumbody lol listen closely.

  • how far does the projectile go with this catapult?

  • how can u make that w/ a triigger for short, medium, and long range.

  • Comment removed

  • I HEARD A CAT AT 1:08!!!

  • is it better to make the swing arm heavier or lighter, to make the object go further?

  • The swing arm weight doesnt matter much. It should simply be strong and straight. The weight at the end of the swing arm is very important. The heavier the better.

  • hey how far does this launch the object?

  • how would i twist the string?

  • What sort of string did you use?

It looks like nylon, but I'm not sure

  • I used nylon string but just about any type of string will work. Go for it!

  • I want to make a giant one.

  • Yah! Go for it and send me pics or a video :)

  • rofl, did anyone hear the cat in the background??? lol

  • nice idea and did i hear a cat in this vid?

  • it sounds like one at 1:09

  • how would you make it bigger? would you just multiply all the dimensions by a certain amount?

  • Yes, almost all the dimensions can be doubled or tripled. Not the swing arm though. You have to cut that to what seems appropriate. Doubling it or tripling it would make it too large.

  • u cud use rubber bands though rite?

  • Yes, absolutely!

  • they don't work very well when twisted, if you were to use rubber bands, have the arm fixed onto a pivot, and past the pivot put a section of arm and attatch an elastic band, then attatch the band to a bar near the back of the catapult, to make this work you would have to have the pivot quite high up and have a strong upright.

it's hard to explain, but i'll put up a video showing some of my rubber band powered catapult projects

  • can u use oak wood

  • Yes, Oak is a hard wood so it will take some work cutting it but oak should be fine.

  • yes, if you want it to be strong use oak, but be aware of the weight of the arm, it needs to be as light as possible

  • 5/5 stars

  • can i use a nylon string?

  • Yes, nylon string should work very well.

  • Can i use jute twine string ?

Search on google if you dont know what it is msg asap thnx

  • Yes, jute twine string should work just fine.

  • lylong should work the best, but make sure it's not too thin

  • hey thanks and also check out my slideshow "marines vs.terrorists"or type my user name
