I have a friend that has a seizure every once in a while whenever we play soccer.....I remember the first time I started to panic, i didn't know what to do...I just wanted to call 911 cause i was scared for him...but now its just normal..everyone that goes and plays soccer know wuts up and there is no panic when he has one
plz help me is there any medication for this my mom has this also and shes taking dilantin and parasotine and she stil gets the atacks is there a recomended medicen?
I can understand and appreciate why you posted this. It is not an easy video to watch, but I've never seen a siezure before, so it has been educational to me.
You're right to just ignore the rude comments, trolls are commonplace here on the internet.
But I want to thank you again for posting this. I have an opportunity to date someone who has epilepsy, and this will help me be able to relate to her just a little more.
im here because a guy at my job has Epileptic Seizures, and he has had one so far and everybody was running around panicing, im here to learn how to help them through it, anyone leaving bad comments on this video needs to grow up, these people can not help how they were born, thank you for posting this
I can't believe the rude & ignorant comments on here. I know what it's like to have Seizures, I have been Hospitalized for them more than once, broken my foot, toes, hit my front teeth & broke my nose. I know now when I'm going into one, I feel nothing during, very confused & tired after. It's not necessary to call 911 unless the person has hit their head or comes on after hitting their head.
@RussLBarth I didn't expect you to take them off. I want ignorant people to know from another persons perspective, not just from the Video. I've asked my daughter to try to get mine on her Cell Phone, I want to know what I sound like.
It's sad that we still see this as a Stigma, I'm afraid of going out in Public, I might have a Seizure.
The girl in the video, has she been diagnosed with epilepsy? If so did it show up easily on an EEG? My fiance has had 3 seizures since Dec.7th that look identical but his neurologists can't find anything wrong, they put him on meds for the next 3 yrs. I really appreciate yall posting this, none of the other videos I've seen look anywhere close to what happens to him!! God Bless you for taking such good care of her <3
Does theperson having a seizure know it?What is happening to the body when the seizure occurs? And what type of feelings will the person encounter during the seizure?Sorry for all the questions.
I had watched this video a few years ago, around my Junior year of High School. In my Senior year of High School, we went on a Spring Break trip and I partnered up with my best friend. We were eating lunch, and suddenly she started acting like the lady in this video (eyes rolled back, jerking, salivating, memory loss). If it weren't for this video, I wouldn't have known that my friend was having an Epileptic Seizure (I later learned that this was a problem of hers her whole life). Thank you.
my friend just died today because of epileptic seizures. he was 18. his class room was near mine. i was waiting for him today to come and he didn't show up. at 12 o clock i heard that he was dead. I met him when I was age 6.now i can only miss him. RIP. (sorry for my bad english.) I will not give his name.
I have epilepsy as well (SGTCS aka Simple Partial seizure followed by a grand mal seizure) & I also wanted my husband to try & record me having a seizure but he said he didn't want to do it, he was afraid it would upset me to bad. Most of the videos Ive seen are not as graphic as this one, after showing this to my husband he said my seizures look alot like this one however sometimes mine are worse, Im so glad you posted this, it's the closest Ive ever come to seeing myself have a seizure.
What an incredible and loving man seen here in the video. God bless you both and I hope you have found effective treatment. MMJ high in CBD's are supposed to be the best for epilespy, says research. Other forms of MMJ can actually increase seizure activity, so be very careful which strains chosen.
Ok I have a real question, it looked like you were trying to stop the involuntary muscle movements, isn't that dangerous because cant they just tear the muscle from pushing against your resistance?
@GavinTheEhlo well u don't wanna restrain as such, but, you know... keep them from hurting themselves and wrecking their home and stuff. that is all i try to do.
@DBigPappi I have epilepsy, and it is a very uncomfortable feeling. You are aware of it and in these seconds you would trade everything for it to stop. It feels like your throat is very clogged and you cant breath. However when i recover from a seizure, all the pain hits as you feel numb during the seizure. After it can be very painful, but doesn't last for days after.
sorry for myself to say. you had "easy" seiz. i,m often crackin my skull. and actually i wish i could get away. but my cat is keepin me on response. lucky me
@ElvenLovePro yeah. in this kind of seizure, you are pretty much not breathing for the better part of three minutes. then struggle for a while afterwards....
@RussLBarth Ic. I was wondering becuz my fiance thinks I have seizures. We don't know if they are for sure. I never remember them happening, but he says my whole body starts to shake really badly. He also says I stop breathing when these things happen. So that is why I asked.
@RussLBarth Ok I get why you have filmed it sorry I was jus so shocked and angry after seein the comments, there is some sick people in this world!! but someone has inboxed me since saying they have epilepsy and they loose contousness after about a second or so and has no memory and wanted to be filmed to see what happens so i apologise! But I'm still disgusted at other people's comments !!
Many epileptics, myself included, would like to have a video of themselves having a seizure in "the real world" just so they can see what others see. In fact, right now I have web cams set up around my house in the hopes of catching myself in "the act". I applaud you guys for doing this for her (insert sound of me clapping). It can't be easy to watch that. She has good friends.
In the beginning of the vid it said you were a marijuana license holder. What does that mean and also if it means you are able to use it due to medical issues what is the effect of it
thanks for uploading dis vid..i'm 2nd yr medical student n now currently we r studying about antiepileptic drug..so sad to see such people with those illnesses..we should be grateful for being normal..this vid really helpful for me..
This is how a seizure happened to my mom (Today) M dad got home from the grocery store and put the groceries on the counter. Then my mom got up and went then stood inthe doorway, she looked at my dad like he was some crazy person. Then started spinning around in circles and acting like she was seeing something. She passed out, my dad screamed at me to go and get the neighbors to call the ambulance. I did, then I ran back home and she woke up when I got their. (First time that she has had one) S
i cant even believe someone would film their friend or their loved one having a fit then post it on here !!! also i'm very angry and shocked by some of the vile comments that some people have made i cant even say what i would like to do to the people who made these vile comments! this world is sick and twisted!!!
@flashthornton well she insisted we try to catch it on film if we could, so we did. then after we saw the pitiful videos available on here, we posted this. since then, this video and it's companion that was up first, have been viewed over 1.8 million times. used in schools and hospitals and jails, this video has saved lives. that is why we did it.
@flashthornton I have juvenile myoclonic epilepsy and would love someone to film me having a seizure because im curious as to what it looks like. For me my epilepsy is worse for the people watching me having a seizure than me experiencing it (my epilepsy doesn't affect my life as it may do for other people because I have one seizure a month) yes seizures for me are horrifying to have but I lose consciousness about 1-5 seconds into it. I've asked some of my friends to film me having a fit
I had my first seizure when I was 19, apart from my grandmother who started having them after having a stroke just before she died, I'm the first in the family history to be diagnosed with Epilepsy.
@RussLBarth Because you justified this with a reply, it is the first comment on the page. I suggest you remove your reply and the troll comments will dissapear on their own.
@BuddytheRat no, we mention it in the video because we had this OTHER video that eventually went to 1.2 million hits. it got pulled. but we leave the troll comments here so other people can see what kind of shit epileptics have to put up with
i actually had a 5 second fit before while standing up after watching a movie at home. It was weird as hell, and unlike the comment i read you are aware of it
I am 16 and just began having seizures a month ago because a tumor in my brain. Soon i will be having brain surgery to remove it. I wanted you to thank you for posting this. You are brave.
i am 23 years old and didn't develop epilepsy until december 2008. if there is any info you could give my family and i, it would be greatly appreciated
@hattonhaha she is gone. not there. her body is twitching in much the same way a chicken with no head flops around. she gradually becomes conscious in about 20 minutes, and the waking self, or the person we all know, is fully returned in 30-40 min.
OMG.... this reminds me of a dear friend of mine. She had brain surgery yet she continues to have grand mal seizures... it brings me to tears seeing this stuff.... I hope one day they can find a cure for epilepsy
@emz101mcflylover Yeah, I knew I had to control myself before watching it... But after I saw your comment I burst out laughing. We're going to hell dude.
@bridgetxrose no, that is a discusting person ugly bitch nocks me sick all up in there house smocking crack thats why there all spazzing out coz there crack fiends ugly ones at that.
there is now a method for people with epilepsie so they can control the seizures the method is called brain training (sorry for bad language for hollahnd:p)
I can't watch this video watching her have an attack and not being able to help from my computer ive favortied like tweeted and shared on every thing i can. Here are my 5 cent hope it will turn her into a million. <3
Guys, please take a look at my video about my sister. She is currently suffering from severe epilepsy and I made a video trying to reach out for help, she has been on the news and the newspaper, and nothing has helped, and the specialists here don’t know what's causing her to have seizures almost daily. Please take a look and share, before she has another and falls down on her head again, all it takes is one bad fall, t would mean the world to our family. Thank you.
@numba1mage Hi. I can't help you by medical side, but I heard and I saw that dogs, especially labradors can predict, and in some case prevent epi attack, but it depends from dyagnosis to another. I have eplilepsy too, but I have photo-sensitive epilepsy, and every time I go to my friend, his dog come to me and put his paw to my knee. After that I feel some relief.
Positivereturn: its not illegal to drive after a seizure! What a total lie! I have severe epilepsy. Petit-mal seizures at least once a week. And I drive every damn day. Fail.
@RussLBarth I hate to ask you this... I try to be friendly... However, what made you think that people with seizures should not be allowed to drive?... Never have I heard a person cause a crash because of a seizure... :)
@mikeysmom87 What state do you live in? I don't know if its a state law or if its something that physicians have to put into place but usually your license is suspended and you have to be seizure free for a certain amount of time before you can get it back.
@mikeysmom87 It actually depends on the state whether or not one is allowed to drive after being diagnosed with epilepsy because it is so dangerous at times.
i have epilepsy.. i got it after my dad beat me with a metal pole a few years ago and cracked half of my skull.. its scary cuz u never know when u gonna have a seizure, i have like 2 seconds to call for help before i hit the ground.. my seizures last between 3 - 7 min.. i always just hoping that i will wake up from a seizure and not being brain dead for the rest of my life :/ its really scary to have epilepsy
My Best Friend Nick has Epilepsy. He has had 2 in one year. I never want him to die. What causes these? I love him more than anything. And I cried So hard when I found out he was in the hospital. I love him and It's such a sad Thing.
Unfortunately, I experienced my friend having one of these epilepic seizures. I knew he has had them before, but never experienced him having one in my presence. He doesn't bounce back right away. He would stay on the ground and be very tired. We would also foam a little bit from the mouth. He did have the same convulsions and blue in the face. He doesn't take his meds everyday like he is supposed to, he takes it like every 4 days. Any pointers to get him to take his meds every day?
I blame this on the American Goverment and their "War on Drugs" my father has to take a handful of pills everyday just to remain somewhat normal. He smoked weed for 30 somethin years and cigarettes for even longer, and has had heart problems and strokes since the doctors told him all his health problems have belonged to smoking weed; now that he has stopped smoking herb he has had more problems than ever that would need another post to inform you of all his medical history problems since then.
the heavy breathing why does it always sound like that my ex had these's and few others i know i always notice this after few secs go by.. Why is this??
Most first seizures are "idiopathic" meaning that they have no identifiable cause. You should call paramedics and go to a hospital or doctor right away, however, as it can be the sign of a serious problem. NEVER drive yourself to a hospital after having a seizure, as a second seizure could cause you to have a serious accident. In all 50 states in the US it is illegal to drive within a certain time frame of a seizure event, usually 3-6 months.
as a caregiver, i can say, she does not remember none of this, and is not painful. it is great that she has a handler when she had it. when your alone is when you can pass away.
My prayers are with you hun. This is a very educational video, thank you so much for sharing part of your life with us. This is great for parents with children who have had seizures...The first time it happens it scares you like crazy, but being able to watch others in some way gives us a look into what happens.
i had a seizure last night. i fainted because (well i assume that's the reason, for i have never fainted in my life before) of the strong smell of henna. i wanted to dye my hair and was preparing and grating it for about 15 min. i just remember my vision go black at the edges and having a mild vertigo. my parents wee in the room with me and told me i fell on my back and hit my head hard on the floor (i had that crocodile plastic clip at the back of my hair and fell directly on to it.) then i

Are you conscious throughout the seizure, if I may ask?
hattonhaha 1 month ago
@hattonhaha she is gone. not there. her body is twitching in much the same way a chicken with no head flops around. she gradually becomes conscious in about 20 minutes, and the waking self, or the person we all know, is fully returned in 30-40 min.
RussLBarth 1 month ago
@RussLBarth Thanks for the reply.. that sounds awful. My condolences.

@RussLBarth I hate how long it takes to be able to think again. It only takes me about 10-15 minutes, but I only have complex partials
amber7829 1 week ago
@hattonhaha Depends. I suffered from epilepsy when I was younger and I was conscious the entire time I just couldnt control my own body.

im srry but how is a seizure caused? i think its cuz of flashing lights but r there any other causes?
lolmagicproductions 1 month ago
@lolmagicproductions
In some people flashing lights do trigger a seizure. It can be stress, lack of sleep or sometimes they happen for no real reason.
dave1053 2 weeks ago
there is now a method for people with epilepsie so they can control the seizures the method is called brain training (sorry for bad language for hollahnd:p)

Thank you.

@numba1mage try medical marijuana
RussLBarth 1 month ago 9
@numba1mage Hi. I can't help you by medical side, but I heard and I saw that dogs, especially labradors can predict, and in some case prevent epi attack, but it depends from dyagnosis to another. I have eplilepsy too, but I have photo-sensitive epilepsy, and every time I go to my friend, his dog come to me and put his paw to my knee. After that I feel some relief.

Positivereturn: its not illegal to drive after a seizure! What a total lie! I have severe epilepsy. Petit-mal seizures at least once a week. And I drive every damn day. Fail.
mikeysmom87 1 month ago
@mikeysmom87 your license should be pulled. you are a danger to yourself and others
RussLBarth 1 month ago 6
@RussLBarth I hate to ask you this... I try to be friendly... However, what made you think that people with seizures should not be allowed to drive?... Never have I heard a person cause a crash because of a seizure... :)

@MendotaTech
my grandmother was in her car. keys in hand when a seizure hit.
15 seconds later she would have been on a free way going 75-80 with so many other people around.
it's common sense.
the blind could drive.. but it wouldn't be a great idea.
theraVen27 1 month ago
@mikeysmom87 What state do you live in? I don't know if its a state law or if its something that physicians have to put into place but usually your license is suspended and you have to be seizure free for a certain amount of time before you can get it back.
jconell26 1 month ago
@jconell26 Also its not a good idea to drive if you have seizures especially epileptic seizures. One day you could really hurt or kill someone.
jconell26 1 month ago
@mikeysmom87 It actually depends on the state whether or not one is allowed to drive after being diagnosed with epilepsy because it is so dangerous at times.

In all 50 states in the US it is illegal to drive within a certain time frame of a seizure event, usually 3-6 months.

as a caregiver, i can say, she does not remember none of this, and is not painful. it is great that she has a handler when she had it. when your alone is when you can pass away.

i had a seizure last night. i fainted because (well i assume that's the reason, for i have never fainted in my life before) of the strong smell of henna. i wanted to dye my hair and was preparing and grating it for about 15 min. i just remember my vision go black at the edges and having a mild vertigo. my parents wee in the room with me and told me i fell on my back and hit my head hard on the floor (i had that crocodile plastic clip at the back of my hair and fell directly on to it.) then i
