With Szigeti the music is always singing, always in musician, and every note has a purpose. True it might be considered anarchronistic by the standards of the performance practice movement, but it is the performance of this piece that I judge others by. The pacing seems inevitable, the destination of the music unstoppable.
I also like his controlled and very luscious vibrato, even in baroque works like this, which some ppl may think it's more 'authentical' to play without vibrato.
I'm surprised Szigeti's bach is appreciated here, because i remember coming across a forum where people used ugly words to describe this recording. But I have always admired Szigeti's unique interpretations to works of a wide repertoire. In this bach, every note is carefully thought out, even if it does sound different from all other recordings.
Thank you for posting this recording. It's truly wonderful. What a great master. Where are such violinists nowadays? They have no character! or soul...
very good, need to check in shop either cd or vcd or dvd to buy one

I meant always in MOTION! Sorry. I can spell "anachronistic" too. When will this thing get spell-check?

Today's violin machines were all taught by Galamian, Makanowitzky, and DeLay.
