2 entirely different styles. If Tim Hawkins is your preference, you're entitled to your opinion. Mine goes like this . Tim is a song parody artist-as is Weird Al Yankovich. Brian is a PURE stand up comedian. No props, record cues, guitars, harmonicas, magic tricks, sing alongs, dance routines etc. Just a person, a microphone and a brilliant performance of cleverly written, original and creative material. That is my preference and definition of a stand up comic.

They are different, but Tim Hawkins does do 'pure' stand-up comedy as well. His whole routine isn't singing.

Anyway, they're both cool.

Few things in life are more subjective than stand up comedy. If that's your preference so be it. I do think however that it is a bit inappropriate and disrespectful to go onto the posting of ANY comedian and tout the skills of some other comedian. Just my opinion and something you may want to consider.

brian regan is the man and the closest i would come to i think if i became a stand-up comic (which i have heard suggested a number of times by numerous people, not to be a dick or anything), or pablo francisco, both amazing, his cd and his comedy central presents are amazing (brian regan), i would suggest starting there if you think he's funny, i promise it's worth it, on the topic of pablo download/buy his "Bits & Pieces" DVD - the funniest stand-up ive ever seen easily, peace (my 2 cents)

people have told me i should be a comedian too, but if you think about it, being a comedian requires coming up with a scenario where your joke is funny, whereas most people (like me) are funny when something funny happens that they point out.
