  • Slow and easy movements, this is a good video for anyone that needs an example of it!

  • Powerful and precise. Beautiful to watch and an excellent demonstration. Dignity, respect and an understanding of the art come through clearly. I enjoyed the beautiful music. Thank you for the post.

  • This was great man! :) I've only just started my Wing Tsun journey, so I don't know a whole lot about it - but I still very much appreciate your video, man! :)

  • love the song ~ reminds me of the movie 英雄 / hero :P

    where r u from?

  • Verry nice, finally someone who is good to follow and to learn from, thanks alot!

  • @jesse5060 Thank you. some of these you tubers are just rude and say I suck just to get a rise out of me. I'm glad you aren't one of them

  • THANK YOU!!! This should be a positive surprise for my sifu seeing as I haven't been attending class for some time. If I return knowing Siu Lim Tao... That would mean a lot.

  • FINALLY someone who knows how to do this form. It's so graceful and beautiful. Thank you for posting. My daughter is graduating to White Sash within the coming 2 weeks and she's already learning this form and is actually quite good at it. I'll be making her watch this so she can improve her form and get it down way before Gold Sash. Thanks. :)

  • awsome video mate, i like how it's slower so i can see the form. other videos have people doing it in like 5 seconds and i cant see a thing lol

  • It looks like you got your Sil Lum Tao from either Duncan Leung's DVDs or the Ip Chun video.

  • @theawakener7 Blackbelts for doing forms when you were thirteen?

Wow sorry about that you must be really good then.

I just wondered if the intercepting fist at the beginning of the siu lin tao form had anything to do with JKD ?

But now you have awakened me to the fact that it is complete rubbish thanks

  • Comment removed

  • @theawakener7 If you don't know this form then you don't know JKD it is the most important thing Bruce lee ever learnt. You must learn form to become formless.

Wing chun is traditional in its trainning but not in its application.

  • sorry m8 but i don't like your kind of wing chun ^^ its a 2 big variation of ip man form

  • that was performed very well man, keep it up!!!

  • practicing for two years, finally can make it through this form w confidence now. your video has been the biggest help so far, thanks. jason roberts

  • Interesting version of the Siu Lim Tao. What lineage is this? People talk big as if there is a "correct way" of doing this form. There are so many styles and so many different Siu Lim Tao.

I'd like to show you mine though, if you add me as friend I'll upload it as a private video? Unless you're not interested ofcourse :)

  • very good ...for your style of wing chun you have one of the best forms I've seen.....and you know there is a bunch

  • i hate criticism without example. I've unfortunately been too far removed from my wingchun but geez at least you uploaded your work...what they hell have they done? effin trolls....anyway thanks for posting...now i've gotta get back in the game to train hard.

  • yes yes i know...the "y" is on what the...typo get over it.

  • my little brother said why is you fingers apart, no crane beak? i was laughing at him since u look like my little brother lol! hahahaha..

  • Tell your lil bro that the fingers have to be apart otherwise one would not be able to generate enough structure against an opponents bridge if the fingers were joined. Not that i am endorsing this guys Fok Sau as doing his way he has no solid contact point ? and is only going to break his wrist if he were to use it that way. There needs to be both solid biomechanical and muscle/tendon tension configurations when delivering a fok sau..........this guy demonstrates neither !

  • And how would you do the fook sau. describe to me in all the detail you can.

  • bridge? fok sao? biomechanical? haha, I have no idea what you are talking about mate lol. but it does sound like you have a point. But still, can't you be a nicer critics, I mean, you know, say it in a more constructive and less demoralising way?

  • Well i could be more constructive, but its hard to say it in a nice way. The fact is this guy, sincere as he may be, shouldn't present himself as an authority when he cant even present the basics. How can i say it nicer ? His SLT is more wrong than right, and instead rebuking my comments he should have asked me to elaborate or at least ask for clarification of his mistakes.

  • A form is just a form. the truth is, form doesn't teach you how to do it right. All it is, is a good way of remembering all the techniques. As long as it fulfills that purpose, the form is not wrong.

I'd rather have crappy form and be able to apply it then to have perfect form and be restricted.

  • You are right the forms doesn't teach you anything, which is why i said it would be better to demo an application from the SLT. Its down to your instructor to teach you its application and for you to gain enough skill to apply it. But if your application does not resemble your form then why practice it ? Be your own critic, apply your fok forward against a live bridge and see whether the wrist/hand bio-mechanics are the same as the one you demo'd......hey dont take my word it !

  • Get a camera and show us what you mean

  • All due respect Its ok that your WC instructor teaches you for free as his instructions are obviously lacking somewhat. But if you want a more informed lesson, then like all my students you will have to pay. If it were that easy to learn from Vids, then few of us would bother joining a club.

  • Your the one asking me to demo and your not willing to demo yourself? I see. Your All talk. Its never good to learn from someone that hides his face.

  • Ha ha i'm not a Ninja, i dont need to cover my face ! Look kid if life was just as simple as 'Give it to me'........unless you are robbing the guy at gunpoint ! . Just send me an email and i will be happy to give you a proper lesson in SLT.

  • Actually how effective is wing chun style? Have you used it in real life? Has it worked? Is your self a modified Wing chun or traditional one?

  • well said buddy

  • Do you know you look like my little brother O.O

  • @kungfucritic

isn't siu lim tao the first form mainly for practising and start getting into wing chun?

  • @kungfucritic yeah, i mean it is sensible to make it clear to others when we are teaching "our version" of the form and "authentic" version of the form. I think if he makes it clear to others than that will be ethically correct.

By the way, I think you do have a point but if said in a more subtle manner, I think people are more likely to listen to it than emotionally react to the sound of harshness. Just some advice I experience myself.

Anyways: "every body goes kung fu fighting! Hai yah!"

  • i have been practicing with your video, just noticed you finished when the song ended

  • Leung Ting + 100s of other Wannabes showed us the SLT on vids over 20 years ago, so why bore us with the same old thing 20 years on ??? If there is nothing new, why post it ? It would be more interesting if you showed an application from the SLT, something the guy on the street can find useful !

  • hai yah!!..

  • Lolers

  • is that a hk version for "lol"?

  • deep

  • very nice...

im learning it now thanks to you

  • thanks so much still learning little idea jason roberts

  • nice vid, like every person who learns wing chun there will be a few differences, like at 2:15 where u move ur arm towards ur shoulder. At the place i go to we would aim at a 45 degree angle then a palm strike. I noticed the gan sau at 3:00 when u extend the arm, ur arm reaches to ur waist rather than stopping at ur center line. Otherwise, not bad.

  • I like to do touch hands drills with other internal martial arts and I have discovered that most of them exploit that lower oblique region which means the gan sau at 3:00 is needed to offer full protection.

  • ya it leaves the lower oblique opened, but thats why when u do gan sau drills with a shift u cover that area while still maintaining center line. Remember wing chun is all about center line, effeciency, and practicality. More important whats in ur center line and where does the gan sau basically protect UR CROTCH!

  • The user will always use it for different things. however the crotch is too low for a gan sau. so I compensate that by using foot work.

  • Very nice display of the sacred first form well done!

  • sacred? nah, its just a form

  • Sacred well I guess wrong choice of words I meant was nice performance of a begginers wing chun form.

  • Nice soundtrack. I was thinking of performing some forms myself with the "chess court" song. Also "for the world" is not bad ;)

About the form, very nice. You hold a good centre line, but in my opinion (wing tsun system that is) the bong sao should keep the centre line with the center of the elbow and not with the wrist.

Interesting anyway seeing other systems and different performances!

  • if your elbow is in the center during bong sau then the elbow will get manipulated

  • indeed. I was trying to picture what he said and it seems to be a position I encounter when engaging others and yes would quickly seize or lean on the basically crossed arm.

I notice a few distinct and very nice slight differences in your sil lim tau that I feel instantly better having got to see! Thanks for sharing!

  • Nice Wing Chun form ^__^
