  • I'm no tree-hugger, and no fossil fuel promoter either, but here's the thing, genius... Coal isn't radioactive and it doesn't require a security exclusion zone around it when you spill some into the atmosphere... Sure, it deliveres the highest power yield of any material we currently know of, but time and again mankind has proven we don't yet have what it takes to manage it EFFECTIVELY... Even in the US...

  • @cetube23 Coal ash is radioactive, given coal being an extremely impure substance. Radioactivity of this ash is about 10 to 100 times that of a nuclear plant (although still nowhere near dangerous).
