OMG...just discovered this group.....awesome....have always loved western swing....damned shame country radio wont play it....The late great John Hughey was a pedal steel legend..he died probably not long after this video was shot.
If u know anything about Nashville music u know that each member of this AWESOME group has been in the music scene for years and are what folks call REAL COUNTRY MUSIC. and nice folks too.
I feel the need to return to the Station Inn-perhaps that would provide some closure for the loss of Brother Bob who introduced me to the place to go in Nashville.
Yeah ! These folks are outstanding . You can't find this kind of talent on the "BIG SCREEN" or any type of an awards show , or even on our "COUNTRY MUSIC " radio stations anymore . It's to bad , because the music producers don't think this kind of music is popular for this generation . If ya want to hear good country music , turn your radio off and head to the clubs . There's lots of great talent out there .

Potna, you see them drums back there? Bob Wills from Texas was the FIRST one to ever sit a set of drums on the the Opry stage! Listen to this again a few times. What you hear is Western Swing that drew it's first breath in Texas! nashville had no use for Western Swing and fought it tooth and nail.
I bet I could book the Time Jumpers for a dance in Texas before you can find a good piece of music on next Fall's CMA awards show! Whats you say there "kid rock"! nashvile sells to the highest bidder
I believe the steel player is the late, great John Hughey . This is Nashville cream! No slouches here! If I remember correctly John played some on Dickey Betts Great Southern recordings.
@larryrealdeal Too damn good for the "n"ashville city limits! Super vocal and a drivin' dance beat that is still very much appreciated in TEXAS!! 10+++++
time jumpers I´m your fan I love your musica and the way you sound all together as one saoli mass of sound, incredible the best grup of excelent musicians saludos desde peru !!!
I was raised on Western Swing ala Bob Wills, and Dixieland plus Negro Spirituals and Pentecostal church music. Over the years, I learned to love all kinds of music. I like your western swing version of this old jazz standard. What key are you playing in?
beautiful voice..clear, cool and straight.. but the amazing is the lap guitar player.. he's in all the chords, in his own instrument's way... really good!
when good musicians play, doesn't matter their origin/background...you just enjoy listening...
The steel player is the late John Hughey, who did amazing work with Conway Twitty for almost 20 years. He also toured with Vince Gill for several years. I remember seeing Vince and John trading some mind blowing licks on an extended concert version of "Oklahoma Swing". There's also a Dickey Betts CD that featured John's amazing steel work. Truly one of the greatest steel players ever!
Dawn Sears is the best, the steel player is magnificent easily Bob Wills caliber as is the guitar player. I just love accordian in western swing music and just don't see enough of this instrument. Of course all three fiddles were great. For the record, the standup bass although I didn't see him on the vid was fantastic as well. WTF just a great frickin band.
I'm a big fan of Western music and swing and from the great state of Canada lol.
They say 95% of everything is crap. This on the other hand is the elusive 5% of pure goodness. It's what happens when people get together for the sake of the music. I am applauding at a distance and hope to do so in person one day. A jillion stars.
wow what can i say, i have seen this dvd and the whole thing is awesome! dawn sears just gives me chills everytime i hear her sing, she's that damn good!!
What a band! Was listening to Asleep at the Wheel and saw a comment posted about Time Jumpers. Dawn Sears sounds a bit like Teresa Brewer or Georgia Gibbs, and that's a compliment. I'm a newcomer to Western Swing music, but I like what I hear so far.
Is that ole Ranger Doug Sittin' there in the back row? This is one fine group. First time I've heard, but for sure not the last. Thanks for posting. Next stop, Their Site!. Lloyd
Dawn does a tremendous job singing this song. What a voice! The guys backing her up with their various instruments are simply amazing. The Time Jumpers have managed, with so little effort, to "raise the bar" in the world of music. Makes you want to say to everyone else out there, "Hey, jump THIS!"
Thank you so much for the breath of fresh air your music gives us!
I love this song. This is an outstanding version of it. The singer is great and John Hughey is always the greatest. I love the whole band. It's too bad that everyone doesn't have the chance to hear what good music is.
There is nothing to say but you won,t hear better than this music anywhere. I can,t wait to take the trip to the station in Nashville to hear them on Monday nights doing what they do best. Its very hard to find a group that clicks like all of these people do God Bless each and everyone of them.

Unfortunately living England it takes a while to get over here and the postage is quite expensive, but worth it.
