Was that Lupe's? I seem to remember that rock...at high tide you can take off over it...but at medium high tide I kicked it and hit a sea urchin...ow, pee'd on it and was better....was first there in 1963...this film is great, thanks for posting...brings back some memories.
This is a wonderfull video rodger, My mothers side of the family is from Mazatlan, and I love looking at videos that show me how it was in the past.
It truly is a beautiful city, the best one in Mexico, at least in my opinion, Anyways, I thank you for this amazing footage, and hope that you could post some more from Mazatlan in the future.
Thanks for the comments. I do have some more film from that trip which I edited out to keep this video under the time limit. I do plan on adding some more of that film to YouTube. It has less surf in it but more of Mazatlan.
Im very sure my mother would like to have a video like this for her collection, unfortunately we live abroad from mazatlan, and we think about it all the time
Its a great video , I use to be a surfer boy , we were a gang of boys from Olas Altas , the Camaron use to be a very far place to go and surf but we manage , use to be real popular place, pinitos , they were very crowded places , so me and other 2 friends from high school , discover a great peak in stone island in 1967 and we have the stone island just for us . SBR
Thanks for the info. and comments. Most of the footage was shot from where the disco is located now. Back then there was a small bar located on the beach with cold Pacifico right from the local factory. We had a couple of days when a right was breaking on the other side of the point.
thank you very much for you video i born in 65 in mazatlan in that hospital front the beach ( el seguro viejo ) i was a surfer in playa el camaron i really aprecciate your video , right now i,m out im live in arizona, but still going to my surfers paradise mazatlan sinaloa c ya.
Hi, I love your video, I love Mazatlan wich is my home town. I also post the videos I shoot about Mazatlan. Would you considere to sell me a copy of this video in dvd quatlity?
Thank you for these video, its great to see my home town like it used to be, unlike now days, so much crime and people who arn't even from Mzt.5:35 Monumento al pescador or los monos bichis thats how we call them,I was born at that big hospital in front of that monument 2 blocks down en la col. reforma. Thanks again god bless you.
Well, you all are guilty, not sure if you were the first to surf here, I read somewhere that Grell Noll and a couple of hawaiian surfed here, not sure about the year, but Im pretty sure you all planted the surfing seed here. Thanks for posting that and Im eager to see more of your stuff
Amazing! Truly amazing! Classic!! Those guys were the real forefathers of surfing in MAzatlan, those were the guys who planted the seed, very nice, never thougt I will see a video like that, any idea of who are those guys? who filmmed? Thats a Jewel right there!!
Thanks for posting it, do you have more videos like that ??
I did the filming with my dads movie camera. Mike,Omar,Lindy,Fred,John,Jim,Bill and I took the 32 hour bus trip from TiJuana to Mazatlan and back in 1966 just before being drafted by Uncle Sam. The 8 of us grew up in San Clemente and 'T' Street was our spot. I am in the process of converting more of the old movies to digital but this one was the oldest. Once I convert them I will put them on my YouTube. Thanks for your comments I appreciate them.
I was born in 1965 here in Mazatlan,
In those days
In Mazatlan a few people surfed,
but fewer poeple owned a video Camara,
and less people would care to videotape our beautifull port !
This is a GREAT VALUE VIDEO!!
Muchas Gracias a Mr RODGER !!!
Best Wishes for you !!!

Great footage. The shot of the little point is punta cameron. It had a disco built on it in the '80's.
