Ever since Machine Head formed with their shitty Groove Metal, riding the wave of Groove, to their Mallcore/Nu-Metal ventures when that was popular, to bringing in Metalcore when Metalcore was hot. The Machine's main program is to stay popular by following every shitty trend that, unfortunately, befalls Metal. Mainstream Metal at least.

The 90's saw a big load of death metal and black metal bands. One of the only good things to come out of the 90's.
