this may nt be a religious song and a patriotic one..but the word "vandmataram" contradicts with islam..so muslim can accept the song except the word "vande"..vande means worshipping ..
all the sacred scrptures including the holy quran says worship the god almighty only...worshiping other than the god is biggest sin according to quran and other scrptrs also..

Not any Hindu goddess. your mother. in this case the poet has assumed it to be country. I personally think patriotism is an overrated idea. Just as because I am born in a family does not make the family greatest so goes for country.

Please do not bring in religion everywhere. Vande Mataram does not have anything to do with polytheism. It means "I bow to thee Mother". And although this may be slightly unrelated, I'd like to add that Hinduism is, unlike popular misconception, Monotheistic and not polytheistic. We believe in one supreme God. All the gods and goddesses are manifestations of the One Supreme Being.
