difficult question mate. because maybe italian people are used to it? maybe italian people are like that (late and dirty?)? maybe because in italy everybody thinks that trains are for the poor and highways for the rich so who who cares about the railways? many reasons
We had caught the train from Lyon through Switzerland to Milano without a hitch. We caught the Venezia train to Padova. At Brescia, we stopped and retardo ( late) on the platform screen increased from 20 minutes to 140 minutes!! Then we were herded off onto another full train where we stood all the way to Padova. Apparently our train had hit a person at Brescia and the coroner had to be summonsed.
Other than that, our extensive travels around Italy went without any problems.
