BL died from an abnormal reaction in the brain from eating cannabis (making cookies etc) he was stressed & overworked & found cannabis calmed him down. He had a reaction some mnths b4 he died when he blacked out from the same thing but he prob thought (like most young people) that it was far from his time to leave this world so kept doing it. Martial art was handed down mostly and taught informally so you can't make the argument that because BL didn't receive a certificate that it makes him a fake. I'm not making the claim that I know more, or knew him like you, but basing from various footage showing him 'playing hands' with other wing chun practitioners I'd say he was good.

In this video he demonstrates some amazing speed in hand techniques that really proves further how amazing he was off-screen.
