This is simply a historic performance from David Russel .Also what we see here is the decisive victory ,the triumph ,of the solo guitar over any other solo instrument.

This piece is amongst the most precious music ever written , and I wish it will inspire the young people who play the guitar to leave for a while the boring little melodies and enter the the very heart of classical music.

There are gems like that the Western civilization is much depend on.-BRAVO!

@potrodsas I agree that this is great, I don't agree that the guitar is superior to other instruments, it is what it is. The bach partitas for solo violin are out of this world, and lets face it, the piano is the most complete (not saying it's the best, but you can't say the guitar is either). I'm a guitarist by the way.

after watching this over a few times ive come to suspect that he has layered tracks because he doesnt play alot of the trills and its impossible for some of those bass notes to ring out as long as they do while only holding them down for a split second

Perhaps it is the acoustics of the room. The version of this I heard on his CD has a lot less reverb and echo than this version does and it definitely seems the bass voice is sometimes cut short compared to this version. Even with the inferior sound quality this recording sounds better than the one on his CD because of the acoustics.
