Whitney was definitely comfortable in her own skin, or should I say, in her own perspiration? She performed flawlessly like this and yet looked sexy and so ladylike at the same time. Well the reality is this Whitney does not sound the same now. I agree with all those negative comments BUT let those who condemn be able to stand and captivate NOW in the manner she does even at her worse. If you cannot then simply bow out gracefully folks. What she has done at her best or worse none of us will ever be able to do. For the fans don't read the messages listen to the music. All have agreed that there was or is no one like her. She will always have that legacy.

I was 9 during this performance. My entire childhood, Whitney was at the top of her game. During that time, my concept of singing was defined by Whitney. I thought all singers were supposed to sound like this. Looking back, I didn't know that a voice like this is so rare that we may never see it again. If Whitney did not smoke her soprano with be so so high pitched she smokes on purpose I think for the lower and mid belts. Whitney is coloratura soprano very high pitched effortlessly, but the smoking cause the bulkiness in her voice. 2:19 whistle tone she did that on purpose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at Dionne, Aretha, Whitney's father, they were all smokers, it was modelled behavior. I'm not sure if Cissy smokes/smoked too... WHitney kept smoking because she noticed that it did not have a negative effect throughout they 80's or early 90's but by the late 90's when she should've stopped she was hooked (and smoking crack, weed etc. did not help...)

At times in 90's her voice will naturally come back to her normal tessiura but she preferred the bulky sound you hear here for some reason. Whitney got a little of folks talking about how crystal clear her voice sounded!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you were to listen to her Radio City Concert (one of her first concerts in the Bodyguard tour), you'd notice the difference between that and this one. Her Berlin 1993 concert which was earlier than this one had her voice cracking.

Her voice has not been killed. She still is amazing. Furthermore, the tour is not what changed her voice. It was her age, and a difficult life style. Nonetheless, she still sounds better than anyone out there.
I know for a fact Whitney's voice is recovering. We see her improving every month. When she first came back, she couldn't hold a long note and her voice was raspy. Now her voice is clearing up and she can hold a note for a long time.

As to Whitney's vocal decline, I would attribute it to her constant touring. She over-used her voice, imho. Also, the drugs and the cigs didn't help her voice in any way. Age is also a factor, but other female singers still retain much of their voice even until their 40s. So, I don't know. Hahaha...
