I don't get it. I keep hearing that John and Vange were broken apart because Natalie is a Buchanan and they and the Lords are the 'stars" of the show, that's why John was only suppose to be with Nat the pain. Well if that is true then why are John,Todd,Blair and Star going to GH??? Guess the Buchannans were not that important to the show after all.
And this scene got her nominated for an Emmy! She also got nominated for John death scene when she found out he died. No one else got nominated for their scenes with him.

Well I've always liked both Evangeline and Natalie. They definitely had chemistry and I am not going to insult either actress but regardless of Nat's bratty antics back in the day, I am glad that Evangeline didn't allow herself to settle for less. Whatever Natalie did, John was responsible for Evangeline's feelings. He should have cared enough, words or actions, to put Vange first and he didn't so I am not mad at Vange for making the decision to walk away.
Now Evangeline knows how Cristian felt everytime she went running when Todd called and said he needed her you would think she had better sense.......Too bad she could of had a great Guy like Cristian.
@constance11200 Who did she get it from, her behavior was the same as Johns when it came to Todd. John was alway running to Natalie rescue well Todd and her became friends and she always ran to his rescue. She became John, she never fully gave her heart to Chris cause she gave it to John hell it took her almost a whole year to sleep with someone else after John. John it only took what a month. Like I said before Natalie was easy she was his punishment for all the bad things in the past.
@94take I think the writers totally played Renee, that's why her sl with Chris was like her and John. For more than the obvious reason the writers and producers had it in for Renee, but I won't go there.

I really think the tears for them were because they would no longer be working together anymore and i think they where really feeling great sadness about that and why the emotion in this scene makes you want to cry!

I for one thoroughly enjoyed Renee E. Goldsberry portrayal of a strong, intelligent woman (Evangeline) who knew her worth and what she deserved and would not compromise herself in a relationship when John would not commit emotionally (although it was evident that Michael Easton wanted to). But as was so obvious to many of the viewers, this man showed love and wasn't allowed (by the writers, producers) to say the words. Accolades to both actors for great acting & incredible chemistry.
I love the character Evangeline Williamson. She was so strong. I think most women would have just run back into John's arms. It takes a very strong and secure woman to make a decision that may be painful, but is best for herself. I admire her for her courage. She really loved him, but she walked away to save herself. If the writers would have let John step up as a man, they would be married with a real baby between them by now. Not like that lying, shrieking nitwit Natalie.
As much as I hate that Jovan broke up, I have to give it to REG and ME for their superb acting. It makes me want to cry every time I watch this. There's so much that wasn't said and they did an awesome job conveying that in their faces and in their emotions. Kudos to these two daytime stars!
Although I know the REAL reason they broke these two up was a contract dispute (which I am sure TPTB could have easily settled), I would like to believe that John was just afraid. He lost his almost future wife Caitlin and maybe what he felt for Van was so close, it terrified the poor man. Maybe he couldn't take losing Caitlin all over again, so to speak. Natalie couldn't have been like Caitlin based on the description John gave. She is a victim true to form and not as tough as she seems.
