  • who's that sexy guy? who" arthur kam laahh??

  • asians IMBA! :D who in the hell said he has ne groove?!

  • This guy plays cool, he sounds a bit like kozo suganuma!!! Few more years he'll be a monster believe me!!! =)

  • i go to school with this guy, in fact, i live in the apartment below him, we are friends, he is an amazing person, and an amazing drummer, please respect him.

  • good job!

  • I like the sound of that snare man, And yea don't listen to the hate man keep going good shit .

  • everytime i see a good drummer on a youtube video, i see the "no groove" comment.

its a good sign... the more "this guy has no groove" comments.. the best the drumer is.

Typically, there are no "groovier" video responses.. just jealousy coments and laments. Its kinda funny.

  • @M0lk no i can see what he means, fone show off, but also show some in the pocket drumming, jazz, rock, fusion whatever besides death metal licks

  • why is he so mad lol

  • @joecream23 right... he looks like a drum robot lol

  • Great drumming! :D

  • too bad that you believe in fairytales. Religious morons.

  • I've watched his other vids....he's a busy drummer. No pocket, no groove. Sorry guys he's not a good drummer. Watch Steve Jordan and Bernard Purdie.... Those cats are the real deal. I took me 10 yrs to realize how a great drummer plays, this kid isn't one....sorry. He will learn eventually. Prob when no one hires him for a gig. lol

  • There was something about that which stood out. Loads of chops but there was a distinctive groove there.

  • no wonder, he's mal-asian (malaysian)

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! This is some killer drumming! Thumbs up!

  • Hello!

  • 17 stupid people...why?

  • CAUSE PEOPLE ARE FUCKING IDIOTS..THATS WHY MY FRIEND....AND JEALOUS

  • watch?v=fZP2nrsh03I

watch this video people. he improved alot ever since!

  • DoEs need a little education in the groove department, but just a little.

  • Well, you have to admit, he does have some skill. To play that fast and precise takes some hard effort and a lot of practice. But i, personally, am not impressed with speed. To me, he's just the drummer version of the guitarists of Dragonforce. I can listen to his beats for about 2 minutes, but then it just starts to blur together and there's no real beat to hold onto. It's just buzz, crash, buzz, crash... too many constant rolls. Good for drum solos, but not for a song.

  • nah, his chops are too common.

  • C'mon guys! He's a great drummer! One reason why I say that is because he's 30% deaf. Any bad comments bout my comment? :)

  • @drums2590 i pass for legally deaf, to the point where my doctor tells me i need hearing aids. but i dont think that i should be given sympathy points. i dont want to be treated any differently than any other drummer. neither should he.

  • @estronicaveron im guessing he is 17-18 the stuff he is doing is not really impressive at all im not saying he is not good or im the best drummer in the world but im 15 and i can do that stuff with somewhat of ease and its still not that impressive when i do it, if you are not a drummer this stuff will seem impressive, but in reality it isnt

  • I'm confused. Why does he need to keep a beat if he is soloing?

  • what snare drum it?

  • I thought he was gonna start a groove at :38, but no

  • Pocket and groove is the exact opposite of what this guy is doing....But since you don't know that then you will probably never understand what a real drummer is. Do you have any friends that play in a real giging band? Ask them they will tell that if a drummer played like this cat they would kick him out at the end of the first song and would take his pay. If funny to see what people think is a good drummer though lol...interesting

  • @fnkdrmr86 but i think this drummer was doing a drum solo, not grooving in the pocket. I'm sure this guy is able to play in the pocket, but he just chose not to

  • There's a reason he is playing in a studio by himself...no band would hire him. To much bullshit. Not a really drummer...just a tub smacker.

  • He's good.

  • Drum set sounds awsome

  • its cool...but he really needs to check out benny greb :)

  • Awesome sense of rhythm!

  • Very good !!! Finally found some interesting drum solo....

  • I think the video is a little bit boring, because there is no beat in it he always uses one technic

  • @seedymonk1 what same technic? explain yourself

  • well i was gonna quit due to jealousy.....nah i think ill kick back, sip sum tequila n wait for the next natural disaster to devestate japan.....

  • snare drum sounds proper, what kind is it?

  • yamaha i love u

  • a lot of fairly simple chops and roll patterns set really fast and in a great order with corresponding dynamics and tempo changes. good deal bro!

  • I'm blessed to have him as a friend. Probably one of the most humble individuals I know. Great guy and great drummer.

  • uhm...the fuck, gtfo, you have chops but shit, all you do is make noise. play drums, dont fucking bang around as fast as possible.

  • I just think he needs more rhythm like he does on 0:36 with the toms.

  • the tom sound is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice. Wish my shells sounded like that.

  • @maniacspidertrash133 Those toms are layered in so much reverb and compression that you wouldn't recognize them in real life. So, how to solve your problem? Buy yourself a recording studio, and learn to use it.

  • y'all need to look at "echa sumantri" from indonesia

  • woah.

  • I Play Drums,,but not that fast,,,U are great ,,bravo mannnnnnnn

  • Exelente!!!!!!*****

  • Incredible!!!

  • Hei Arthur!!...secondo me dovresti scopare un pò di più . ;))))

  • Hei Arthur!!...secondo me dovresti scopare un pò di più . ;))))

  • damn, could you post this video at half the speed?

  • ummmm.... holy shitballs..... That is some Sick Drumming! AmAzing rolls.

  • what is the name of your drum??

    Yamaha stage costum??

    amazing sound bro !

  • Fuck, I really have to work on my rolls.

  • 13 people didn't like this, I guess they were disappointed that it wasn't Travis Barker. Arthur seems to blow him away.

  • arthur kam from MALAYSIAN

    the best drummer in malaysia

  • I quit.

  • look at his eyes! calculating each tiny muscle movement. terrifying.

  • awesome ending asian bow

  • man ur great but ur posture looks dummy...!!!

  • Hell yeah, awesome

  • If I gave you all a link to him grooving would you all shut up?

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn .... I'm going home to practice :)

  • What's with all this "asian" ID? One word for the haters....Losers.

  • @MrBrentR I mean he is asian........

  • at 0:26 he plays that splash with so much love and care only a mother could give... or an asian.

  • Its nice to see someone nowadays showing their drumming and not just try and do as much double foot pedaling as they can i like this guy

  • Wow!! I'm blown away !! Freaking awsome tight drumming !!! In the favorite list !!

  • If you think you are good at something there is always an asian to prove you're not... I want to go and cry and gently stroke my drums now, telling them that everything is gonna be okay!

  • unbefuckingleevable!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • SiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiCK.

  • this dude is badass!!!!

  • Awesome

  • I KNOW HIM! HE'S MY FRIEND!!! YES, I AM BRAGGING AND I DON'T CARE!

  • Outstanding sounding drums! What tuning method do you use?

  • The techniques is great! I think the only thing left is to be free and more creative. something like play less but give more meaning to the sound.

  • The latin groove wouldn't actually be played like that though. He is great but I would like to c more variety with the fills and more single pedal action.

  • @ediot6969 its easy to criticize hehe

  • those cowbell parts were great!

  • amazing sound recording, the guy behind the scenes should get all the credit...

  • no pocket.....no groove......just another flashy ass drummer, theres a million out there.

  • @fnkdrmr86 You're going to tell me that at :24 there's no groove there?? ooo and I guess even a 2 year old could play the piece at :57, right?

  • @fnkdrmr86 and if everyone just grooved? then there would be a million of those and you would be saying: "all pocket....all groove...just another boring ass drummer, there's a million out there." I love groove, and i also respect this. drumming is not only about one style, that's why i love it so much.

  • @fnkdrmr86 lol this dude has such great control man why u haten and no groove? @0:25 that is the grooviest shit ever O_o

  • @pawnshopr

it's not bad. i don't know if i'd go as far as 'ever'. there's a lot of cats out there, that have been out there for quite a while... Check out Will Kennedy for some sick @ /watch?v=TttaAPcwSkc or Professor Dicenso demonstrating sick chops, but also using SPACE in between notes (4:58-5:10) @ /watch?v=s_81IomgGEY

  • @fnkdrmr86

    Are you insane?

  • @fnkdrmr86 there's a ride groove that he kind of starts at 0:25, but then he quickly abandons it to show off his chops for the remainder of the solo. impressive yet boring as hell, even for a 2 minute video. so there's a reason why he's an "undiscovered drummer" lol

  • @fnkdrmr86 What is a "pocket" or "groove?" Example? Seriously, I'd like to know.

  • @fnkdrmr86 How can you judge a drummer based on one video...? "No grooves, no pocket". Have you heard any of his recordings? Thought not.

  • @fnkdrmr86 so wrong... u couldn't be more wrong. besides what would u do for a Modern Drummer solo. and he won by the way so something was right.

  • @fnkdrmr86

He is just a kid tho

  • @fnkdrmr86

He is just a kid tho

  • you're good man, keep on drumming

  • we need more cowbell

  • @schukisfast i gotta feva... and the only prescription is... more cowbell XD hahaha

  • i think it would be even more amazing(this implies that i think it's amazing xD) if he extended it by building up to the crazy fast stuff he does... so start off with a simpley groove, then add a bassdrum here and there and a hihat opening and maybe a couple other things, then start with like a simple one or two stroke fill on the toms(for example) and then make it more complex and faster as you go on with this technique..he has the potencial to be even better( at least to make me believe that)

  • @c0d3x001 Everyone's a critic. Why don't you add a link to your solo where you do all those things? Would love to see it.

  • @elroyblackbean holy crap... i don't even come close to this guy... i probably should hgave said that i think that it could be better by doing what i said... of course i dont know, i only play for a couple years now. but you can't fool me. you knew what i meant ^^

  • I like how you all talk shit about his lack of groove, when he incorporates a sexy as hell latin groove in the middle. Let's see you do better than this.

  • credit to the sound guy.... the drum mix sounds perfect... i can hear every stroke... great drummer

  • Shorty is buttery smooth! Go on!

  • not a beat missed

  • sick!!

  • Don't to see an asian cat get down very often. It's a bit square and a little too perfect. But still pretty damn nice

  • I guess he's un-undiscovered now.

  • he was the country's youngest person to achieve a grade 8 in drums at 11yrs old with a distinction and is now under full scholarship to study in berklee. He also endorses yamaha drums and sabian cymbals, and yet some of u talk like u got shit

  • Of course he's good but he should return to a groove more often instead of just tom rolling.

  • @misipi He should do what he wants to do,right? Seems like tom rolls are more important for his music than solid grooves.

  • He is part of my best friends family

  • impressive, but a little try hard and not as musical as it could be, IMHO

  • Complete player.. Nice to see more of these guys versus groove-solos all the time. This cat knows theory & is in the pocket! From the lyrics of one of my favorite rap groups of the early 90s, "Bring that beat back yellowboy" Amazing! From one drummer to another...

  • talent wise I think this kid is great, being a drummer myself I was impressed

I watch alot of solo's and I find that groove over everything else is what grabs me and more importantly those that arnt drummers or even musicians. Dave DiCenso from two ton shoe. his solo is by far one of my favorites to both watch and listen too and if you watch it people start to clap to it, had groove, rythym, it was just perfect. all i really saw here that was mastered is speed, and for me I need more then that

  • Haha - awesome. This guy's the drumming equivalent of that bit in Aliens where Bishop does his knife trick.

  • great paddle bass...malaysia boleh...

  • fuckin sick....

  • great talent, poor groove

  • @siciliano79 it's a drum solo. what are u expecting? lol

  • @m3erZone ... groove . . . ;-)

  • @siciliano79, I hear you, but... I'm not sure a groove was even ATTEMPTED?! I'm NOT slamming this kid. (He's talented!) But I am frustrated over Modern Drummer. The magazine should change its name to Modern Drum Soloist. The next Al Jackson Jr. would go un-noticed in their supposed quest for "undiscovered talent," because of the contest focus MD *chose*. They prove again, they're more about the acrobatics of drumming, and less about the reality or purpose of the drumset as a musical instrument.

  • @scottp118 well said do you know of nick pierce

  • wooo! great! what snare it is??

  • i think i´m come xD man this set sounds sooo butifull

  • this is going on my playlist!

  • there should be 3 buttons like dislike and love it

  • the toms sound like heaven!

  • Well done! Articulate and excellent meter. Sticking is smooth, and everything is happening in a circle... Excellent!

  • wow i just watched this n i feel like giving up playing lol :P that was incredible

  • you, my friend are super awesome, that makes you sawesome!

  • One word... Asian.

  • Great Foot Work

  • @Remecroix Two words...gook.

  • HOLLY SHIT!!

  • This sounds great bro!!!! keep it up!!

  • the asian mike portnoy hot damn

  • that latin groove is siiiiiiiiiiiiicccccckkkkkkk

  • Ummmm..... WOW!!!!!!!

  • wow, the sound is very clear!

  • HOLY FUCK

  • Nice job boy...now play somethin more groove...less chopps, more good taste!

  • @rakygk listen closely and find a rhythm, he is f*ckin sick

  • no mames toca bien chingon, la bateria esta bien afinada y se escucha bien el audio se oye perron.......

  • NIC

  • GREAT JOB hey guys check out my channel fir some drum videos of my own I'll be making a lot more in re future

  • nice guy

  • On a scale of one to fllama, he's a WEEPWOP!

  • so nice! i like his style! =)) were the same..

  • nice

  • the reason i hate drum solos is that they dont really show whats actually important about playing drums; working with a band. of course, chops like this are always cool and good to have (and show off sometimes) but you will rarely ever hear this in a song. and thats what drumming's about, working together, not showing off.

  • @loudfastrulez I agree

  • better doubles than Lang even

  • Please tell me what kind of drums your playing in this video and what snare becuase it all sounds amazing.

  • he's from my country malaysia, he's only 18

  • THIS GUYS IS ON FIRE!

    SIMPLY AMAZING!!

  • wow...nice :)

  • great dynamics his drumming is so tight .impressive

  • Talk about the next Akira Jimbo.

  • sicko!

  • IMPRESSIVE!

  • are you kidding me? .....one of the best that ive ever seen...and ive been around.

  • what's the technique for doing those one handed rolls at 0:57 and 0:59? Is there a name for that roll? If so is it taught on a dvd somewhere? thanks

  • There's really no special name for it. Like you said it's just a one handed roll. It's good you're inquiring about it because it's the foundation of sticking. Without that skill there's no way to pull off those fast rolls or play complex, fast ride patterns on cymbals. Check out Dave Weckl's "Back To Basics." He shows you exactly how to perfect those one handed rolls.

  • Well it's doubles between 1 hand & two feet, it's more of a push/pull than Moeller w/ the hand. The Moeller really comes into play when you are doing 3 or more notes. Though, you can't really do Moeller until you've gotten the 2 note push pull down. From there 3, 4, etc become about the control of the bounce and the last note which you pull off of the head.

  • @HunterDay10 ghost notes bro

  • @ 1:14 . He really loves the camera. haha!!. he looks like a dickhead. lol.

  • who gives a crap what he looks like when playing? The guy is awesome! Are you jealous?

  • I just checked and someone uploaded that video onto Youtube. The one that covers the sticking is called "finger control." LOL...I guess there is a technical term for it after all. Well, I haven't seen this video in over 10 yrs...I forgot that's what he calls it.

  • Well done. Not sloppy--the timing and evenness of the strokes is clear...lotsa practice to get there and make it so smooth and even.! To the peeps saying he needs to practice pocket--I don't see how you can say he can't play in the pocket based on this vid... I bet he has great pocket ability based on his timing with the rudiments. anyway, cheers to a great drummer!! Drums, the universal language.....
