How is that a joke? As a drummer he seems to play a little "a head of the beat" (and seemlingly aggressive) but, he never lost the established time. If anythinng the bass player sounds like he was at a loss for ideas.

this drummer plays to frantically and wild, almost as if he isn't feeling the music and rather waiting on luck to generate a beat. might i recommend analyzing one of your beats and using it as a 'base rhythm' to slowly progress your chops in action.

The bassists didn't have any trouble working with it and were nodding their heads to it just fine - they were giving him room to play the way he did. You're getting too distracted by the loud volume of the drums relative to the basses.

The drummer is good but the toms are really poor. Nice bassing, nice work on the snare, hi-hat and cymbals but the toms sound lets him down.

I dont like cheap Grestch drums, or over price crap in general for that matter! ....but I chose to play on the same kit that everyone was competeing on that night to show them what can be done on a shit five pc kit instead of bringing my 8 pc Pearl Masters Set in. Unfortunatly, there is only so much tuning you can do before you realize that you cant really get gold out of a crap. Thanks for the nice comment though.

Atheist is the most obvious. Cryptopsy and pretty much any other technical death metal band does use jazzy time signatures, but not really the jazz sound.

nah man its just 7/8 time its not jazzy, just a time signature used with a bunch of others in jazz. not a fuse really. if you like bands that have odd time signatures and are still rock/metal listen to tool/dream theater/rush. (im sure youve already heard of all of them tho.)
