  • Sorry at 1:17 I creamed my pants!!! Opps.

  • People that complain about the "off scale" note probably have never listened to Paco de Lucia. Try listening to Mediterranean Sundance, live in San Francisco and learn... Idiots...

  • ya know what people, it is possible to go "outside of the box" and hit a note, that isnt in the scale. there are no rules saying you have to play what is already been wrote, therefore you cant play that, that note didnt fit the scale. oh boo fucking hoo. people who sit there and pick them apart note for note are usually idiots who cant play anything for themselves.

  • I don't understand why would you post your comment for a Satriani video if you don't like Satriani.

  • Even the greatest screw it up, So I have nothing to feel bad about ^^

  • thats absolutely as cool as anything can get! & those 5 people disliked it, i guess they are justin bibers fans & they seriously need to put a BULLET in their head!

  • He was awesome and looked like he was on cloud nine at 1:21.

  • c'est du jazz ça ? O_o

  • @ThepopCornFlakes Absolument pas ! Mais c'est génial quand meme ! XD

  • joe's play live is very very nice ~~ i don't like much effect like the cd ver ~~

  • Joe's playing is effortless.He really enjoys himself on stage.Master technician,and teacher.

  • One of my favourite songs of my favourite guitar player

  • this festivals DVD never came out, did it?

  • this festivals DVD never came out))ha-ha? in Russia it was came out!!

  • 47 or little more min)))

  • Jeff's drumming on this tracks fucking badass :D

I don't really need to mention Joe's guitar playing it speaks for itself :D

  • Agreed! You know slick (#) from the Electric Satriani anthology? That also has a sick rhythm. Having a Big Band play that song would be downright sick badass...

  • Oh yeah, and the Big Band part applies to Mind Storm as well!

  • at 1:20 has he still got the protective plastic on the humbuckers?! LOL ! hehe awesome

  • Jesus-fucking-christ

  • Come on Ibanez Bring out the 7 String JS Please

  • he only uses it a handful of songs. guess you'll have to settle for a 7 string S!

  • normal wah wah i think..

  • what effect is he using in 0:31???

  • wah?

    or maybe auto wah

  • I'm new at this, but, could I use any wah effect to do that?

  • yeah probably

just got to have good timing..

the sound might not be exact

but if its a wah its a wah

  • Regular foot wah

  • Wah dunlop 535q

  • wah wah cry baby 535q jim dunlop

  • 1:07... Joe plays one falsely tone => Gelen and Matt are looking at Joe with suprised look:D...but this is the best performance

  • that's not a false not :) Just not the original note from the album...it's still right though :)

  • @ConstantineJajas HAHAHAHA, GOOD ONE... IT DOESN'T BELONG TO THE SCALE THOUGH... LOL

  • He can play style. He is so

    versatile

  • i was there!

  • This so sick.

  • Jeff Campitelli is one the best drummers in the world.

  • does anyone know where the hell i can get one of them guitars!?!?!

  • Ya man i just bought myself a Ibanez S7320 cost me about 800 dollars with the taxes Sounds perfect

  • um... a guitar shop. It's a js1000.

    :)

  • with 7 strings ;)

  • js1000 is only 6 string

  • yes. Ibanez LA Custom Shop.

  • joe satriani great the beast

  • 7 strings coooool!!!!

  • If I ever get the chance, I'm gonna nick Joe's seven string guitar!

Maybe Ibanez will get off their ass and make more..

  • haha call me crazy but.....joe kinda looks like vin diesel...ya know, like with the shades and all.

  • Joe...loser? Thats about the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard

  • his place isnt at jazz festival!my friend that is my point

  • You're an idiot. The Montreax Jazz fest. has evolved into a celebration of music of all kinds. You're the one that is a "noob" and you're the one limiting talent. Instead of there only being talented jazz musicians there are the best from a wide spectrum. Besides, Frank Gambale is a hack compare to most of the people that play in the JAzz Fest.

  • stupid boy! in Jazz festival plays any styles n Satch play Jazz fusion but not in this song kill u!

    SATCH RULES!

  • fusion....jazz.......my friend you dont know the meaning of those words....educated yourself listen to some chick corea, allan holdsworth, shawn lane,al di meola, john maclaughlin, fran gambale and many more and then talk about fusion and jazz...........

  • I could name a couple of Satch Fusion songs. He isn't a fusion player, but in my mind, genre depends upon the song not the artist. For instance, Shawn Lane is not a cemented fusion player, but his biggest impact came from his songs that were fusion based, therefore many people consider him a fusion player.

  • first fusion isnt a straight version music.....everything that is mix beetween jazz and rock or jazz and blues or jazz and pop and jazz and whatever

  • Right, and being that as the way it is, you could argue that at least 1/3 of Satch's songs have this fusion definition...but I wouldn't because there is a certain style to fusion that severs the link between Satch and it. Fusion has always been Jazz first, then whatever the other, it's an added taste. Satch will often use jazzy rhythms underneath his Usual Poppy or Rock Melodies. That style I understand to just be plainly Instrumental Guitar. The mix is there but the style is different.

  • hmmm you are quite inteligent my man....indengared species in youtube :D yeah satriani has a few fusion instrumentals in surfin with the alien

  • you're stupid Satch do fusion jazz in songs like cool 9 but not is his style n shawn lane di meola play jazz too but is her style

  • LOL, it is not ''montreux''... but Montreal

  • He seems a tad off in this video.

  • yeh might just be a song he doesn't play as much as the others, and we all have our on and off days :)

  • I think He did it really well, I don't know why some people say that...

  • so good

  • Dude thank you sooo much for posting this. Im satch's biggest fan and love strange beautiful music

  • Ahhh, that progression with the thirds played above it is absolutely out of this world... holy shit...

  • just a 7string model of his signresatu

  • seems you have no idea how it feel like to play a seven string... weight... thickness of string... notes... and try to play it dancing... even if joe messes it up (wich i think he didnt) who says music its about perfection... youre so wrong...

  • Yeah, most people that lack the ability to play 7 string say that. =D

  • I agree...

  • acutally nothing, but the montreux jazz festival has it's name from a time that's older than this kind of music.and satch plays there frequently...

  • This is probably the only video of Satch i've seen where it sounds like he's struggling and it's still a great performance even then. <3 Satch!

  • I'm guessing they never released an album for this gig did they? Too bad if not, this sounds so awesome live.

  • can anyone see which guitar gallen is using? A universe !?

  • Beautiful and marvelous. I love all Joe songs, but thi`s is a BEST!!!

  • any more from this gig? i have never seen him play this live ! this is the first satch song i heard!

  • That guitar has always had 7 strings my friend.

  • ... wow, I have never seen Joe play a seven string guitar until now :D and I have never seen that type of guitar with seven strings either :/ but man, that was a killer song!!

  • That guitar has always had 7 strings. He has always been using 7 strings.

  • I didn't know he used 7 string guitars all the time :/ because if you search on a video with Joe in, you will most likely see him play a 6 string in every one! and that's why i never have seen him with a seven string . And I have seen a lot of videos of Joe :P so i don't believe you!! ^^

  • hey its not all the time as i posted to the outher guy u replyed to!!

  • Not ALWAYS

  • thats bull shit if your talking about all his guitars are 7 strings i have 2 of his signature models their 6 strings and ive seen him live 2 time no 7 strings so this is just a random thing he does on some songs trust me i do know!

  • haha! in your face nuketuk125 ^^ don't talk if you don't know what you're talking about!

  • lol you tell him bro!!! but i do know stuff about joe and that outher dude sucks dick for bus fair and still walks home!!!

  • lol, so true!! ^^

  • But i will tell ya this so far Ibanez doesnt have a 7 string Js model yet for the public to buy!!! as of right now they are comming out with a 20 aniversary model real soon cant wait to see it!!!!

  • yea, i'm really excited about that too!!

  • where ya from??? u play guitar???

  • I'm from Norway :D Yes i play guitar, its the funniest thing ever!!! period... Where are you from then? damn i so jealous on you for having TWO Js signatures :S

  • good show bro!! canada be more jealous i have a yngwie malmsteen fendar slash signatue epiphone and i just got my JSX amp and waiting for my JSX cab comming this week cant wait i work my ass off for all of it!!

  • i don't like you anymore... lol, just kidding. But damn, that is some expencive equiptment you got there :S here in Norway you have to pay almost twice as much than you have to do :(

  • move to canada lol well im not bragging about any of it ive worked hard..i have a total of 7 guitars lots of pedals that amp and lots of tab book im just starting to set my guitar rom up in my basement will rock!! what kind of guitar and amp you have??

  • i wished i could move to canada ^^ yea, you have deserved it if you have worked hard for it :D damn, a guitar room... you are a luckky dude :P lol, its kind of embarrassing to say it to you though xD but i still got my starting guitar and amp, which are an Ibanez GSA 60, Peavey Rage 158 transtube series and a Zoom 505 2 pedal.. i'm like dying to get some new equiptment, especially a new guitar :P but i dont have a job, so i dont have that much money :(

  • well ill tell ya this never be embarressed on what yaouve got take what you have and go with it!!! how old are ya???

  • i do like the Ibanez, its pretty good, but i have had it for like 4 years or more now, so im kind'a tired of it ^^ well, i'm only 17 xD i bet you did'nt expect that ^^, how old are you then?

  • well bud i expect the unexpected so im 25yrs

  • hehe.. well i'm turning 18 soon though ^^ but i have a question to you! are you able to film your equiptment (or maybe you playing it) or post some photos of it? that would have been great to see :P

  • alright! that sounds great :D i'm sending my email to your inbox so other people don't get it ^^

  • Can you tell me what good but not very expensive (better than sayin cheap) guitar amps and pedals that're out there. i'm only 14 but i played for 3 years and my marshall is lonely :P I need different sounds because a 15 year oold nobels booster gives a really shit sound (trust me) and the marshall doesn't produce any differnt sounds :P

  • well it really depends on what you want!!!! ummm the Boss Phase shifter, course umm DD-6 delay talk box ummm theirs lots you just need to check them out cause every ones different and come's up with different sounds!!!! as for the amps im not sure where to start i have the JSX amp and the cab will be here in the next day or so so ill know what its all about!!!! good luck keep rocking

  • the rage is the mostest awesomest minicombo!! i have it too and it rocks! if you wanna buy a new amp, try one of those line6 modeling combos, they are anything but cool compared to a "real" amp, but i like the sound, and the versatility is overwhelming.

  • youve gotz mail!!!!!!

  • woo the live version of this song rocks just as good.

  • That song makes me cry

    Hes an awesome player

  • This is awesome.

I just randomly heard this song on the radio one day back in 2001 when "Strange Beautiful Music" was released, and I never looked back. We are blessed as guitar fans to have guys like Satriani, Vai, Buckethead, and the legions of others to make this kind of music.

    Favorited. ^-^

  • I love the sweep at 2:05-2:13

  • Awesome! Where's the rest of his set?!

  • Joe Satriani is the BEST and this song too :)

  • one of the best song of joe satriani!!! it`s not like the cd but i have never seen this played live...

  • I think joe has a little mistake at :11. Meh, the greats make mistakes also.

  • yes... adore this one, can to die... Hendrix was the best all time guitarist, but Satriani is next generation. thanks!

  • anyone know Guthrie Govan, Ron Thal, Mattias ia Eklundh Techniqal Geniuses, would have been no where without Satchy Satch though

  • guhtrie govan was satriani student???

  • Would've been pretty damn impressive right. No, Influentially speaking. The innovation in instrumental guitar. Satriani is amongst the fathers of that industry. Just giving props to the man, while name dropping a number my own personal favs. Brett Garsed...to bounce another out there. Greg Howe if y'all never knew who he is, you are retarded if you ever think you know anything about great guitar skills if you don't know who he is. What other fusion players you know? I want more!

  • one fo te best and heaviest song from satch!!!! power song first time seeing him play this live.

  • i envy you the second that i m able to see satch live i will go. i wouldnt care if the tickets were 100 dollars
