bellissima interpretazione, forse avrebbe potuto sfruttare anche il positivo e il recitativo, vista la grandezza di questa fuga. Si sa niente del preludio?
Have listened to countless versions of this since I was a child, both recorded and live by world-renown organists on the recognized showpiece organs and it is refreshing that half a century on exciting young artists such as Mr. Wargh are injecting such vigour and verve...it doesn't hurt, of course, that this quite modern organ is also absolutely outstanding in spite of this cathedral's acoustic limitations.
Smearing? I think not.
Wargh's confidence and facility are in perfect balance.
A true virtuoso at the organ. Superb piece, and superb Fugue. Is there anything more to be perfect? It's a really fantastic rendition of this masterwork. And we're in front of a very important organist of the XXI Century. Congratulations. Juan Francisco.
Wonderful!!!!!!!Unbelievable!!!!!Incredible!!!!!!wow very good!!!!! fugue bwv 532, one of the most complicated organ songs!!!!!!!!! you have my respect mr markus.
He would be proud. But I doubt anyone would be more awesome to see play than Bach himself. I think Wargh is a little fast. You end up smearing the runs every time, that way. Especially with the reverb in a cathedral. The acoustics force you to slow down a bit. Very good playing though. Looked like he was dancing with the pedal board.
@Lassann Not really dancing, that is just exceptional pedalling, the way it is supposed to be, very sharp and crisp, excellent video for other organists to head a lesson from
@Lassann I lived in Basle for a year, near the end of which the Deutsches Dom (built around 1250 or so) opened after a year's closure. A celbration included a Bach piece--Am, as I remember, but I'm not sure; that was 30 years ago--and the theme was repeated in very high notes against a lower foot-pedal theme .For the first time I heard the importance of playing the organ to the architecture of the building.
Complimenti! Bellissima interpretazione di questo superbo brano!

Excellent performance.

Outstanding! Just as how Bach himself would probably have done it as a young dashing virtuoso.

A really excellent performance of what is almost certainly the difficultest piece ever written for organ. Well done sir!

A bit too fast I'd say... but I used to commit the same sin a few years ago, so I won't say it too loudly! :-)

Brilliant in technique. Minimal in dynamics. 2 unused manuals. Some subtlety would have been welcome.

He seems so relaxed...it seems so natural and easy to play, two of the "secrets" of an true virtuoso...
To my personal taste the tempo is a bit fast but this is an amazing performance and a great Bach full of life and energy :)

@Lassann; i totally agree. I think that with such reverberation, only a good listener can play with such speed without jamming up the music

In my opinion, what makes this fugue so interesting are its modulations and the excitement of imitative dialogue combined with sheer speed.
I see your point about acoustics though!

Nice flourish at the end--a "Fin(n)ish"? And very well played. I wonder if Bach would be surprised how popular his music is 250 years on.
