I'm sorry but if the hospital has made several unsuccessful attempts to allow this baby to breathe on his own, as Fr. Pavone admits they did, removing the breathing tube will kill him, tracheotomy or no tracheotomy. There's no 'weaning' him off the tube, that's what the hospital has tried to do without success. A trach is useless for him without the ventilator. Too much emotion here, not enough common sense.

Because the parents had another child who lived with a trach for several months, not on a ventilator, they want to do the same for this child. But he's not in the same condition. Without a ventilator he's going to die. The trach will not change that. It's a useless risky surgery that the doctors refuse to do.
This is what America's healthcare is going to be like if we go with the Obama plan. It's a sad world when the almighty dollar means more than a human life. The doctors asked for ruling from Ontario’s Consent and Capacity Board just like the doctors in Texas asked for a legal ruling under the Texas Futile Care law in the Sun Hudson case.
The London hospital has agreed to transfer the child to any other hospital that will take him but so far none have come forward. He is blind, deaf, has no brain activity and is being fed with a tube. A tragic situation.
I just found out that Baby Joseph died. May he rest in peace and may his family be consoled.
