@hiramcook Ah Cool, I'm from Harrisburg. My favorite has to be either Mac and Cheese with Spam, or just a plain old fried spam sandwich haha. You just can't beat the classics!
You're right. That's not a backpacking stove I would want to haul around or try to pack. It's huge. But my experience with aluminum is it gets better with age. Less sticking.
Hey there Hiram...I just made this for lunch (I LOVE SPAM). I made it with brown rice (1/2 cup of rice with 3/4 cup water). It boiled for 8-9 minutes then I set it aside to soak. Then I fried the SPAM like you did and added Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and then put it all together...YUMMMMMY! Thanks for the idea.
@7:10 you need a piece of bread to wipe that pan clean. I just got done eating and watching you make this has made me hungry. and i dont eat spam. LOL enjoy the videos Hiram. keep em coming.
@1:33 "pan of spam" oh thats classic! and "spam lite"... you're little cooking pots are sweat I need to look further into these... absolutly perfect! I was kicking around and idea..., of a camping/outdoor pizza/personal pizza??? any ideas, thoughts, er recipes?
LOL S.P.A.M. Stuff posing as meat. It is all in what we like to eat on the trail. Nice cooking demo Hiram. I dehydrate most of what I take out with me, even BBQ sauce. It sounds crazy but it works.
Hey, the people of Hawaii love the stuff and they can't all be wrong. LOL. I never got into the dehydrated food that much because I've had to carry much of my water. So I figure why pull the water out of the food to just have to carry it in a bottle. Not that I don't use dehydrated foods.
Yesterday i was eating this. It was very nice, but since i'm vegetarian i toke some fake meat. I'm not finished with my wood stove yet, so i just made a little campfire for it. Together with 3 pancakes I had a nice meal, thanks :)
The knight that says nit likes Chinese stir fry with dehydrated shrimp, peas, broccoli, and rice with a packet of seasonings, msg, soy sauce and peanut oil. mmm mmm....
Great video, now I'm hungry even though I don't like spam you make it look mighty tasty! What kind of can are you using for your trangia to snuff the flame. Also does the trangia fit inside the hardware wire for carrrying? Thanx!
No it doesn't fit in the hardware cloth. This set up in just for using on my workbench. I do have another setup where the Trangia stores inside a pot setup. I should do a video on that one.
Thanks Hiram. I had a question for you in regards to stoves. I noticed that you try many different ones. I have been building tons of penny stoves since December, and find they are easy and work well for me. Are all the other designs you have tried work significantly better? I love penny stove they are so light, can be brought everywhere! I find they can be used in many cooking apparatus. I made a griddle to be used with 2 penny stoves and I was amazed by the results. Mike, Lon. On.
How about a little drained canned pineapple and Teriyaki sauce instead of the bbq sauce for a asian twist?

Where did you get the two nonstick cookware ?

I would have cooked it all in one pot. Just like on the trail I only carry 1 775 ml pot.

Great video. Looks like good food for the great outdoors. Trangias are really good for cooking food on. Hot but don't burn the food like gas does.

Great Idea for a meal, I'll have to try that sometime (being a WWII reenactor Spam is quite plentiful for me). Might be nice to make out in the field.
On another note, Weis Markets? A fellow Pennsylvanian?

The knight who says nit left out dehydrated green peppers. They don't have to be green. In fact, mine last time were red orange yellow and green.
