  • AM I THE ONLY 16 THAT LOVES THIS????????????????

  • @tomcardello thanx ffor info!!! i bought a soundboard rec< of one of the cleve shows they played 3 nites! and unfortunatly i must have got the bad nite because psge was sloppy as hell and plant on the acoustic songs not so good! glad you were at the great one tho!! at least i have other boots that are amazing!!

  • @tomcardello im from cleve you are one lucky guy i was too young !!!!!!!! if you can post more comments would love to here them THANKS

  • Bonham is at his best during the string of LA shows from 77. Those versions of ALS are superior to this one, not saying that this one is poor by any means. But if you listen to the series of recordings from June, particular, June 23, that's probably the best drumming to ALS Bonham ever did! PERIOD!

  • robert at the end

  • la fuerza del rock tranciende por el tiempo y se volvio universal ya nunca mas estaremos desamparados nuestros dioses del rock nunca nos dejaran por que su legado es muy grande y esta en nuestras mentes

  • super fast tempo..absolutely amazing. Bonham has never sounded better.

  • all I can say is wow.

  • smokin sound

  • Ah this was the first bootleg I ever acquired. Memories, memories. . .

  • fuk Ya ! Zepplin is God

  • this a rehersal dumbasses

  • @mjw9363 its a concert from 77 april 27th in Richfield Coleseum, so in fact you are the dumbass

  • 6:25-6:35 is the best for page. I was at this concert but don't remember much of it. because I was a stupid 17 year old at the time and was too stoned. I do remember shooting a bottle rocket from our upper deck seats down into a stage left speaker . More stupidity as a result of drugs. Glad I lived through it and cleaned up. I appreciate and enjoy the music more now- thanks to youtube!

  • Blessed are the Greeks. They represent the Westward spread of Anunnaki influence. Thus are the ways of the heavens.

  • they are so much greater live with this song, studio version is to slow, this one rules!

  • see--Achilles Last Stand FIXED and UNFIXED

  • Your point is what? Page kicks it on this song. If you can do better, please post a video of yourself playing the guitar part so we can all judge you. I'm sure you will receive mounds of constructive criticism.

    Hammer of the gods . . .

  • for the last time those were two different performances

  • OUTSTANDING!~

  • I`ve seen some very good tribute bands to LZ. I would love to see Jimmy & John Paul Jones recruit some of these singers & drummers & do a tour. Plant `s not into it so why not ?

  • Cause Plant is to Zeppelin like corn is to the cob.

  • @SqueezeMyLemonBabe Very True. Without Robert Plant, you cant have Led Zeppelin. I wouldn't accept it unless Robert Himself recruited someone.

  • Hardcore Phaser.

  • wow this is the best performance of this song in 77 i ever heard!

  • page - the best guitarist (one of them lol)

bonham - def was the best drummer ever.

    plant - vocals are outrageous!

  • dont forget jonsey.... man he made this song possible

  • jones is great to lol

  • good job XD lol

  • how right you are

  • ta rrre zarpadisimo loco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • for me, my fav album Presence.

  • what live bass playing! JPJ!!!

  • who cares!! i was so fucked up back then listening to Zeppelin...ha! a concert never goes the way we all want to hear the song played anyway..still...i still love cranking them up on teh stereo..heh heh

  • no, it fell out of a tune a little on Achilles because of the into song into achilles. if you have complete bootlegs, he goes on for like 20 minutes with violin and just making crazy noises with diff effects. it usually threw it guitar out of tune a bit

  • this is very very good awesome............these guys are fantastic musicians fucking great

  • that musta blown their fricken heads off...

  • Hmm, that was a bit cryptic. This is my equal fav Zep track and this is is the best version I've ever heard. Squeeze, you are wonderful! Thank you.

  • anyone know how i can get the mp3?

  • well dude... the best way is to buy cd and rip it. if you dont want to spend money and make plant richer then download the video to flv file and then use another aplication to get mp3. google it.

  • .................................

  • I've got the four lp box set. it is in a black box. I've heard two different nights from cleveland. two different destroyters. one has stairway and one does not. both have achilles and the star spangled banner.

  • YOU STOLE MY NAME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is a board tape.

    awesome!!!!

  • damn rp is gone

  • the drums on this from the LA Forum in inglewood, california on 6/21/1977 from Listen to this Eddie are WAAAAYYYYY better

  • Bootlegs are hard to get a hold of sometimes, trading, and hard sleuthing can find some stuff.I have the Led Zeppelin Mudslide LP 1970 Bootleg which has great sound quality,Bonhams drums are amazing on this recording. Also have a Zeppelin Earls Court LP on Idle Mind Productions from the UK, May 24th,1975 performance.Found at a local record shop, is stuff out there to find if you look hard enough for it.I met a guy in Seattle who has a origional 1969 audio reel of Zeppelin's concert at Greenlake.

  • Freaking crazy how good these guys are.

  • Bonham, King of the Shuffel, and Triplets, hard Hitting

  • greatest drummer ever.hands down

  • I got this bootleg early 80's as a boxed 4 album set. At the time I was told it was recorded straight from the mixing desk thats why sound quality was good . Is this correct I still have it but don't play it much try keep in good nick. Saw them Knebworth 1st show have bootleg from that too but quality nowhere near as good as this !!

  • Yeah thats true, I have the two CD copy it sounds really clean. You hear everything from all the effects added to Plant's voice to Jonesy's "gallop" during the verses. You've been doing the right thing though. What you have is actually a really hard to find collector's item of sorts . Don't know how much its worth, but I know people would pay a very pretty penny for it.

  • how do u get this stuff???

  • oh my god this is fucking awesome, thanks for the upload

  • Welcome to the greatest drummer who ever lived

  • I agree. Check out "Song Remains the Same" from the Inglewood Forum 1977 show. It's on the Zeppelin DVD but buried as a background video in the "Credits" section. It's an audience recording and video blended, but the drums are the best ever. The whole show is called "listen to this eddie"

  • that is the greatest show ever. where can i hear the whole CD online?

  • Yeahh!,pure fucking rock.

  • drums are good but listen to the 6 nights at the LA Forum in 1977.. in particular songs like TSRTS and Since I've Been Loving You...simply amazing

  • So true!

  • MEGA!

  • This recording is fantastic!

If you want to hear another Achilles Last Stand where Bonham goes nuts (possibly even funkier than this one) search for " Nobs Mighty Arms "(without quotes).

    It's from LA 1977.

    Thanks Squeeze!

  • No problem man! Thanks for the info I'll check it out!

  • i just got this boot today. its amazing!

  • Yeah its great!!

  • the best AChilles last stand is in the LISTEN TO THIS EDDIE bootleg. taken place in the LA Forum in 1977. its so loud and heavy as hell. the drums are out of this world GODLY.

  • is jimmy useing a peddle it's sounds like he is? but this song is amazing though

  • Ya i think hes using a phaser in the intro and then a wah wah pedal

  • ehh id say the best achilles is when they were playing in seattle 77

  • i disagree. page was out of tune. the best is either Knebworth or the Europe tour in 1980.

  • naa i should have sed the best in 77 , lol my bad

  • ok.

  • I've been wrestling with this. There are so many great performances of Achilles. But, of the versions I've unearthed, they played it best when they played it for the very last time livee -- and this was in 1980 at the band's second-to-last concert. Just search "Achilles" with "Germany"; you'll find it posted in two parts (part 1 and part 2). I was blown away -- especially by the shared bends between bass and guitar toward the end. ...phenomenal.

  • i have that boot. i agree, its amazing.

  • I remember this LP box set bootleg from the late 70's. I just sold it.

  • I prefrer june 23 and 27 for Achilles Last Stand :)

  • i prefer the 6/21/77 LA Forum recording (Listen to this Eddie).

  • Yeah that's a good bootleg, haven't heard all of it yet, though.

  • Nice man!!!!! I have a lot recordings from this concert I just haven't got them up yet. Man I cant imagine the power of Zeppelin live!

  • You know you can easily get a umber of versions of boots from this show eh ;)

  • would like to know how. I want one !!!!!

  • such a powerfull version

  • DUDE!

This really rocks! Totally new one to me! The beat has my feet!

  • Glad you enjoy it man!

  • Squeeze - I just had the idea to play this song to accompany a live video of the Northern Lights!

I absolutely love this version you have posted! Awesome!

    Many many thanks!

  • i love this song!!but Knebworth august4th 1979 version,was the best!!!

  • poussyledzep - hard to imagine that just one year later he would be dead

Like a shooting star burning out just when it reaches the top

  • John Bonham is on fire here, love this version!

John Paul Jones sounds like he's playing a rubber band though hehe :D

  • Haha true the bass on this song always seems to be 'twangy' and rubber bandish. But yeah Bonzo was great! Glad you enjoy!!!

  • I think he's using a pick.

  • Yeah he used a pick when he played certain songs, Achilles being one of them.

  • also he used his Alembic 8string for achilles last

  • also he used his Alembic 8string for achilles last

  • Oh man, I remember saving up my lawn cutting money to go out an buy DESTROYER when I was 11 years old. This is my Fav. tune from it. Raw, crunchy and balls out. Brings back great memories. 25 years later, all Zep bootleg vinyl are on display in my music room in my house.

  • Nice man! Glad you enjoy it!

  • what is your address ? ;)

  • This was Jimmy's favorite song!!

  • Amazing, Wow. Thankyou so much man!!

  • You're welcome man! Glad you enjoy it!

  • Nothing Harder Heavier or better!! You can't call Zeppelin heavy metal because what they did wasn't boring like metal...this has so much more dynamics...more like Wagner(classical) plus it's way harder... I think they should have their own category in music because no one does what they do or even comes close simple as that!! Thanks for posting this version!!

  • Yeah true its amazing and its not like metal. Its so much more complex and interesting. Haha, glad you enjoy it man

  • OH...My...GOD...I never thought I'd say this...but this is even better than the original version, I don't give a shit how fucked up Jimmy is on this...the drums are infuckincredible!!

  • Hell yeah man! Right on glad you enjoy it!!

  • This is awesome stuff, thank you. I spend so much of my time looking for led Zeppelin bootlegs. There was an orginal vinyl copy of The Destroyer on ebay last week that went for about £260. I wish i wasn't poor :(

  • I'm glad you enjoy it man! Yeah I spend a lot of time as well looking for them they're hard to come by, and, like you mentioned, when you come by them they aren't cheap. Don't worry about it man, I dont have much money either haha.

  • awesome

  • Glad you enjoy!

  • thanks for uploading it buddy

i like it very very much

  • omg!!! my uncle owned a suite room at the richfield colusium where this concert was. he got a pick from Page and a drumstick from bonzo after the show

  • Man you're uncle is a lucky man! I would have loved to meet Bonzo or Page. Thats awesome man!

  • I always hear people saying 1977 was bad for Zeppelin, but I don't really think so. My favorite Stairway to Heaven is the 1977 Seattle version.

    Bonzo makes this song.

  • Yeah he really does hes amazing.

  • Bonzo really was key in all versions of ALS. His powerful drumming did the trick. Oh, and BTW, if u guys think this version is good, check out achilles from 5/21/77, at the summit. jaw opening drumming right there, and make sure u get the soundboard. (the dragon snake)

  • Thanks man, I'll look for it

  • me too

  • drums are amazing in this version

page wasn't particularly at his best at this point though...too much heroin

  • Na i think i like the version in knebworth 1979 better, but this is still really cool

  • Personally I dont like the Knebworth version that much, its good but I just never liked it I dont know why. I think I like this version the best because I think that this is performed to 110% full capacity and a ton of energy. Bonzos drumming is also amazing and interesting to listen to.

Regardless of our views, Im glad you enjoy it.

  • yeah of course. i enjoy any led zeppelin performance, there an amazing band

  • Only the best, haha.

  • yes they are the best lol

  • the drumming is fantastic, i'll give you that sir

  • the knebworth one just seemed a bit to perfect, well from the first night anyway, the second was an atrosity (page broke a string, plant forgot lyrics), this version is a very true statment of how led zeppelin were at the time

  • Too perfect? Led Zeppelin was the hardest working band. Plant suffering form flu.'s, Page insomnia, Bonzo anxiety, and JPJ trying to his best to keep the band going. They're PERFECTIONISTS, it shows in their catalogue. Led Zeppelin's preformance at the O2 areana last year proved this. They as much work as a band would for a tour! If you don't want PERFECT, I suggest a band other than Led Zeppelin. Hell, if you don't want PERFECT look around at today's musicians. LED ZEPPELIN I know the way baby

  • Ok, have a go at me because I said Led Zep were perfect, perfectly normal to do that? What i was trying to say is that knebworth version from the 4th somtimes gets boring as it is very "by the book". I like to hear bootlegs like this as there seems to be a lot more of the bouncing about between studio versions and whatthe members were improvising on stage at the time. Please dont hassle me anymore for unapparent reasons, I am a very busy session guitarist Oh and btw modern bands and music sucks

  • You should hear the Achilles from Munich 1980. Check it out Squeeze, thats their best.

  • I'll check it out man! Thanks for the heads up!

  • SOOOO much better than the album version.

  • Yeah I think its my favorite version of the song.

  • yeah i know ticket prices have got out of hand over the years. its too bad. but i sure hope they tour and come to your town so you and your friends get a chance to see them. you take it easy youngster, and thanks again for this posting. peace.

  • well my friend i sure hope they tour and you get the chance to see them live. when my friends and i were 17 the upcoming zeppelin shows at the forum in july that year was absolutley the most important thing in the world to us. we all were working part time jobs after school to get the money together for tickets, gas and ha ha party supplies. if i remember correctly the tickets were only 9.50 a pop, hard to believe these days. nice to see you younger folks enjoying zeppelin.

  • 9.50...wow. I saw Robert Plant and Alison Krauss tickets for over 200 each.. Zeppelins tickets will be well over 500 easily Im sure. Probably nearly 1000 or higher. Thats why Im saving up for a long time haha. But man I would give anything I have to be able to see them back when you did.

  • Me too....especially 'cause of Bonzo's death.

  • where is all that ch ch ch coming from? it aint distortion or anything and it isnt anyone on stage so wot is it? i think someone is tapping along near the mic or something

  • Perhaps I'm not sure. It could have been stage affects or it could have been someone messing with the recording equipment. I couldn't tell you, sorry.

  • i remember when i saw them back in 77 they were about half way thru the song remains the same when page dropped his pick and just rocked the rest of the song. at 17 i thought that was the coolest thing id ever seen. got to be hard to do on a 12 string given the dexterity required to play that song the way he did. always loved to watch page play and strut around the stage. zeppelin, 4 truly great musicians. be nice if they gave us one more tour.

  • Man...you're one of the lucky ones who got to see em. Im not even 20 so I couldn't imagine seeing them in the 70s. I've been saving up in case they actually did go on the tour. If they come anywhere within an 8 hour drive of where I live I'll be there and I'll have the money this time, not like with the 02 lol.

  • i remember a interview years ago where page said they never used the same tunings on the tunes in concert except for rock and roll, always keeping things fresh and different for themselves and all of us. i always loved pages use of the wah- wah pedal.i read that he usually plays it wide open. zeppelin always put on a great show. something different every night. not sure if you have more of these posts, i will find them if you do. thanks again man.

  • I didnt know that. I always thought the difference in the tuning sound was just a result of the different tone of the Gibsons and stuff Jimmy used on stage, thanks for the info man! And yeah, they were always amazing live.

  • to squeezemylemonbabe, nice post my friend thanks a million. i used to have this bootleg plus 5 more i bought at middle earth music in good old downey ca. lost the damn cds when i moved a couple of years ago. and yes this is led zeppelin. i just wonder how many of these soundboard recordings ended up in sound engineers private stashes. once again thanks for the post.

  • No problem man, I'm glad you enjoy it!

  • the sound here sounds so very un-page...

I wonder what made him use such a heavy wah.

  • He used alot of Wah-Wah in Knebworth I thought also..I think this sounds like something Page would play, the guitar solo and improvisation to me sounds like something he would do.

  • i agree that the playing STYLE is very page, just the SOUND is something i havnt seen from him yet.well, you learn something new every day!

  • It is a soundboard recording.

  • this is either very bad sound quality or thats not zeppelin, bonzos drumming is off and he was always mega accurate.never knew page did herion, when'd he get off it??

  • He stopped using heroin around '85. I'm pretty sure this is Zeppelin...that is certainly Robert Plant singing, and Bonzos drums don't seem off to me... alot of times Zeppelin did the echoing thing with Plants voice, so I think this is Zeppelin..but yeah it is bad sound quality.

  • This is a very dry soundboard recording. Any boot collector worth his salt would prefer a great audience recording but you get what you can when you can.

    This is Zeppelin.

  • I guess so haha.

  • cleveland rocks!!!!!

  • Yes it does

  • the drums are fantastic on this boot!! thank you

  • You are very welcome

  • This is them. Just a hard song to play live. This is definitely Plant.

  • i dont think anyone could replicate plants voice to that accuracy, and i cant see how you can say it is the worst one you have heard, explain?

  • I think it would be the greatest version I've heard live. And yes, that is Zeppelin.

  • cleveland, ohio

  • yea 1977 was very back and forth.. it had many bad shows.. but at the same time some of the best shows of there careers where performed in that year.. like all madison square garden, La, and alot of Maryland wre fantastic shows!!

  • Wasn't that the year Jimmy started using heroin?

  • yes that is when he was VERY active on it ... i think he started earlier though but in 1977 the addiction got stronger

  • What day is this from

  • It was April 27th I believe, 1977.

  • GO BONHAM MAN

  • i think jimmy's solo at knebworth was better. but could just be the audio....

also, is somebody making sounds with their mouth?

  • Who knows, maybe. I never noticed but then again, I never tried listening for it lol =].

  • My first Zep bootleg. Probably the best live version of Sick Again ive ever heard. Also good are Achilles(this one), Trampled Underfoot, In my time of Dying

  • Destroyer was your first? I think it's one of their best. Have you heard Live on Blueberry Hill? That one is great they do Bron-Yr-Aur on it, or Jimmy does. Magnificent! And yes those songs on Destroyer are great. They sounded great on this one compared to how they started getting tired and old around the latter 70s, compared to the early 70s.

  • The next night in Cleveland, was a better performance. Yes, I have Blueberry Hill. It also has "Out on the Tiles", my favorite Zep tune, by the way. There are good shows from the 77 tour. I think drugs did affect Jimmys playing. It is rumoured he was pretty high on the Destroyer show. Destroyer was a good show for Plant.

  • Check out "Listen To This Eddie", that's probably one of the better 77 tour shows. Bonzo was on fire that night too.
