My rescues aren't pets they are family members and I couldn't thank the rescues enough for making the effort to save them and eventually leading them to me. No home is complete without the pitter patter of little paws or claws!
I wish someone would put Rescues by Judy out of business. A couple of years ago I paid two-hundred dollars for an old dog from her. The dog came with a 'clean' bill of heath by the vet that Judy used at the time. After 'Scruffy' was examined by my vet and an ortho vet it was determined that both hips needed replaced and both front knees needed replaced. Judy's adoption app. claimed she would take her dogs back but she refused to help me and she refused to take the dog back. SHAME ON YOU JUDY!!!
This is typical for Florida. I think we need to get after these code enforcement departments and stop the theft they are doing. It seems like the whole state is infected with this relentless desire to micro-manage your lives and steal all your money.
Two Paws Up! Checked out your website, looks like you're going strong ... I'm trying to push the message of how AWESOME rescue pets are, I posted my latest work as a video response here (hopefully it posts). Launched my video two days ago in honor of Anniversary of Katrina -- I know you pulled 100 dogs out after the Storm. I'm at LuluAndLolly (dot com) -- come see what i'm up to -- Please use my work to help spread the message that rescue dogs ROCK -- I think we'll help draw people in that way!
The video along w/the music brings you to tears.I wish you could live out here where I live.Bunnell,fl. "Daytona north".It's rural area. Most land is at least one acre.Good luck, and God bless.
My son is now ready for a dog. We have a cat. We've researched every breed imaginable. Recently we've been going to petsmart and petsupermarket to see the pets by Judy...we've decided to rescue a dog in need - at least one. What an amazing rescue Judy runs...my son wants to be a vet and as soon as he is old enough he wants to volunteer at Pet Rescue by Judy. Let's save this amazing NO KILL rescue! For the pets, for our children.
i became teary eyed. our furry friends deserve better! all of my cats & dogs have been adopted. mixed breeds. i don't have a pedigree, so i'm not concerned. my boxer x is going on 15 years and is still the athlete. thanks for being here.
I have watched this video several times and every time it brings tears to my eyes. As a volunteer for Pet Rescue by Judy, I have personally witnessed countless abandoned dogs and cats find their forever homes. Without PRBJ, these dogs and cats would have suffered terrible fates. Judy has saved so many lives and she has brought so much joy to families in our community looking for the perfect pet. It's time to return the favor by finding her and the animals she rescues a shelter!
I believe when God shuts one door, He opens another and there will be an answer to all your prayers Judy! Stick in there, and we will all stick in there with you.
Please encourage everyone to sign the Extreme Home Makeover petition, linked from our website. And if you know a person, business, or organization that can help us buiild a no-kill shelter, please let them know about us. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3). This is a great PR opportunity, a chance to save lives, and a tax deduction. What more could you ask!!!!
Pet Rescue by Judy has become a very important part of my life and I love helping the animals to find the right home. I have made so many friends through PRBJ, Just imagine how many more we could place if we had a shelter. Thanks Gisele for another great video, and thanks to all our volunteers!
The problems of our rescue are only a microcosm of the problem in our country. Too many areas have given in to the "easy solution" of kill shelters. We CAN be a NO-KILL nation. Nathan Winograd and the No Kill Advocacy Center have have successfully helped cities and counties around the country convert to a no kill philosophy in a matter of months, saving lives and taxpayers' money. It is attainable! It just requires community support. Look them up on the web ~ it will give you hope!
This is a very worthy cause. We need to do all we can to help the homeless pets in America. Pet Rescue by Judy does a wonderful and selfless job working to save animals. God Bless you all.
This rescue needs help! I hope that Judy can go on saving abandoned animals. Maybe instead of spending so many resources on enforcing codes, the state should find a way to make pet owners more responsible and that would avoid the situation all together!
I know the work Judy does and I just cryed all during the video. Please help her! When you save a dog you save a child or person. How many of you know that a dog saved over 1000 people during the 9-11 attack in New York and this was not a designated rescue dog, it was an ordinary dog.
thanks for your comment. It was validating. I have been publishing animal rescue videos since 2005, beore Youtube. 1,000 people-Unbelievable. It's a crisis, unfortunately, that bonds people. And since when are any of us "designated" to do what we do? We just do! Thanks again. Follow your heart!
Thank you for the support! If you have any ideas, please share them with us through our website. And encourage EVERYONE to sign the Extreme Home Makeover petition. Although we initially limited it to Florida Resident, we hope that national support will demonstrate to the powers-that-be that this would be a show that would touch hearts everywhere!
I will be happy to spread the word. Please God Extreme Makeover will recognize how worthy PRBJ is to be chosen. The work she does to save animals is that of an angel!
We are asking for ideas, donations, calls to politicians or others who can help, and most of all we hare hoping that someone can donate industrial zoned land in Seminole County. And please sign the Extreme Home Makeover petition, whether you are a Florida resident or not. If the producers see national interest, maybe they will follow through. Thank you so much!
I used to be in animal rescue myself and I know how much work, self-sacrifice, and dedication it takes! I will definitely spread the word. I'm appalled at News Channel 13 and will let them know how I feel. SPCA is great but are very recognized already. The little rescues need all the help they can get. Judy- I hope everything works out, keep the faith!!
Thank you for your positive words. They are what keep us going! We appreciate the work of the SPCA but, goodness, as you say, they already have high recognition and funding. There are so many small rescues struggling every day, making a difference in the lives of those they touch!
It is sad to see Judy being treated this way. The county commends her efforts but slaps her down. In support of Judy & all the animals, I'll pass this link and the extreme make over petition link (in her website) on to everyone I know.
Thank you so much! Gisele, the talented producer of this video, suprised me this morning with a new video aimed specifically at supporting our Extreme Home Makeover petition. Please view, rate and comment on our new "Help Rescue Pet Rescue by Judy - We Need To Stick Together" We are so blessed by Gisele, her talent and generous heart!
Someone has to take responsibility for finding homes for the homeless pets in our nation. Our city shelters are full, our city governments unwilling to deal with the overflow. People like Judy are to be commended, not condemned. She is actually saving the city thousands of dollars by taking in the pets and caring for them herself!
This is a wonderful video of a wonderful lady taking such great care of these needy animals. We need more Judy's in our world of needy animals. Thank you Judy for your love and dedication.
For the life of me I don't understand why they are doing this to her. There wasn't one word said about the animals being in bad condition. I just hope and pray that she can continue helping the unwanted animals and finding homes for them.
I am amazed at how anyone could not love these animals. They are our children. Thy love unconditionally. No questions asked. They are always there for you. They are our best friends and will never judge you.
I have been following Judy's story for over a year or since I moved to central FL. This "big brother" garbage makes me so angry. Judy has opened her home and her heart to these lost animals. I pray that a solution will be found for this wonderful woman and her fur babies.
We that in the end, Judy's rescue has a central shelter in an area where she is supported, not harrassed. Thank you for your support! Please encourage those from where you lived before to sign our Extreme Home Makeover and indicate where they are from. Perhaps if XHM sees national interest, they will give Judy her miracle!
I have sent an email to all my breeder friends world wide and everyone in my email addressbook. Hopefully, the word will be passed on. I have even emailed News Channel 13 and chastised them for no longer having Judy on their weather pet segment. She needs all the support she can get! Go Judy!!!
You are the best! Truly, Judy was mystified when Channel 13 dropped her with 3 days notice in favor of featuring the SPCA. They are a wonderful organization, but gosh, they have national funding and exposure. Oh well, I guess we should just be grateful that Channel 13 is still giving rescued pets exposure, even if it isn't us!!! :)
Thank you for the words of support! Please sign the Extreme Makeover petition linked from our homepage and this sidebar. If we can show NATIONAL interest, maybe the producers will favor us.... We can dream!
Reading all of these comments can be quite emotional!! I'm so proud to have done this video for you Miss Judy, although we have never met, your reputation is something to be quite proud of. I hope you find your rainbow.
Our family can't thank Judy enough for letting us adopt Kelso, one of the best dogs ever. We since moved to NC and adopted another rescue as a companion, and as wonderful as the rescue group is, we always think about Judy and all the work she has done in Orlando. We lived only about 1/4 mile away from her shelter on Tuscawilla Road and hope that she is able to find a new location to continue all the good work she and her volunteers do! Judy, you will definitely get a special place in heaven!!
Thank you for having such a heart for rescued pets! If you have not yet done so, please sign the Extreme Home Makeover petition. Originally we limited it to Florida residents, but when we hit 30,000 signatures in 19 days we think it would be great to show ABC the support rescue has nation-wide! Thank you again for loving Kelso!
Actually, we did sign the petition a few months ago when it was sent to us by friends in Florida. We forwarded the petition on to other friends we had in Florida. We hope that Extreme Makeover takes this on. We'll be following what happens!
I recognize so many of the dogs! What a beautiful video and the picture of Judy and Baba at the end is perfect. Judy is one of the most special people I have ever met & deserves a shelter she can call her own. If she can do what she does now, imagine what she could do with her own shelter! My family and furbabies (our own & the fosters!) love you Judy!
I've only heard the most positive things about your rescue Judy for years now! Thank you for all you've done. God will always be good to you. I'll put this on my myspace as well.
Thank you so much! I've been so awed by the number of people who have done this. You are the best!!! Together we will make a difference for the abandoned pets of Central Florida!
If it was not Pet Rescue By Judy we would not have the wounderfull addition to our family.
My dog was Heartworm + and would have been put to sleep if Judy had not saved her. Keep up wounderfull work and Let Rescue. Shame on orange county for hurting and not wanting to help Judy.Orange County should be Proud to have her. Pluse with all the Animals she rescues they get to be up to date on shots. ( which slows down all the sickness. She also Fixes them all!(This helps stop unwanted animals)GO JUDY!
Without a shelter, we couldn't do what we do with out foster homes like yours! And, yes, I KNOW you have wanted to adopt everyone of your babies! Folks don't foster because they protect their hearts ~ thank you for risking yours! :)
You have a good eye! The puppies in the basket are the litter of that Shih Tzu! They were dumped at a kill shelter a couple of days before Thanksgiving. I had the joy of fostering them. Mai Ling, the momma, was adopted the weekend before Christmas and is officially spoiled. The puppies all went home last weekend in sets of two. The hardest fosters for me to give up. Could only do it because I love their families.
Thanks to all for watching, and please remember to rate this video (five stars above) and favorite it by pressing the heart... and comments are welcome!
Thanks PRBJ for letting us adopt "Trigger" (formerly known as Phil) from the Oviedo Petsmart. Trigger came at 4 months old and is now 8 months. We love him and are forever grateful to you for bringing him to our home. We support you and will do what we can to help you! The Bonifaz/Malicki family!
Exactly, it's offensive to the "good guys". It's favorable to you they have imposed on the police. If anyone has a claim, it's you. They've harassed you and caused you worry and concern for your safety. You have every right to file a formal complaint against them for trespassing, harassment, stalking, and other charges. I've been through this.
I would think this would make an amazing makeover story for the Extreme Makeover people. It would certainly make them instrumental in helping establish the first and only no-kill shelter here and I would think the good PR for them and for Sears would be enormous. I wonder if some of the larger petstores might be interested in donating money for the land as you cannot buy that kind of goodwill and PR/publicity.
That is a great idea! I will suggest this to our wonderful fundraising volunteer. What would really help, though, is if people like you and othe members of the general public suggested it to the stores as well. I think the potential PR impact would be more evident to them if the suggestions came from multiple sources. Gosh, doesn't it just seem like somehow, some way, this should happen? Where is the downside for whoever could donate to this cause????
I know that the big pet stores ask you if you want to donate $1 at the cash register and does anyone know where that money goes? Can any nonprofit apply for it? I saw a sign on the front of Petco and it said they collected all this money for animals so I just wonder who gets that and can Judy apply for any of that?
I think that the problem is people are discouraged from doing so because they see what happens when you raise your head above the crowd and do what others don't ~ you end up before the county, you have people make up stories about you, you are faced with moving out of your home. How does this encourage those in our society to move beyond their own self-interests? It doesn't; it discourages it, and THAT is a shame!!!
Another great video done by Gisele. I don't personally know PRBJ, but you must be top notch for Gisele to design this for you. She has very high standards in the rescue community!
Pet Rescue by Judy is a Central FL household name, a trusted source for families . I looked to PRBJ for healthy animals in which their volunteers spent time fostering and knowing each cat/dog's personality and habits. I am appalled at the cavalier attitude that Orange County has displayed utilizing funds to legally harangue PRBJ. The volunteer organization is a valuable community commodity. I am embarrassed that this is happening in my community.
I can't include a link in a comment, but for those of you who have a moment, under the description of this video (top right of this screen) there is a link to EXTREME MAKEOVER. If you could take a moment, and fill it out for her, it may be a HUGE help. Just click on the blue (more) button underneath the "about this Video" to find the link! Thanks!
I have two PRBJ animals in my family now and I feel that Orange County officals made a poor decission in regard to PRBJ, but we vote and there are so very many of us...
I would wait for the outcome before accusing the county. Maybe, a bitter neighbor put them in a position where they had no choice. We just don't know yet. Time will tell. Making new enemies when the true culprit has not yet been identified is not wise... YET!!!
Wow, not only do people abuse and abandon animals by the zillions, now they want to complain about some trivial BS, and stop those with a heart for the animals from saving their lives. There is a special place in HELL for those types. We need to figure out how to help Judy help the needy animals. This should not be happening.
Sadly, these things don't seem trivial to people because they tend to have a "small world," not looking past their own doorstep. Imagine if all this effort was redirected to a state-wide/nation-wide no-kill solution!
I am a volunteer for PRBJ and i can name almost every animal in this vidoe. Actually, one of them is mine that i adopted for PRBJ.We need help. Pet Rescue By Judy has changed my life and it has many more lives to change in the future. Lets help them out!
You know that special joy of volunteering in a rescue. It goes from a way to give back to cause that touches every part of your life. Once you've helped an abused or abandoned pet, you never look at one the same way again. It is my hope that more people will stop turning a blind eye but will become involved in no matter how minor a way! We couldn't do what we do without volunteers like you!
what scares me is that THIS could happen to any animal rescuer, in any county, in any state. There must be a way to find the right property, close to her volunteers and foster homes, that is properly fenced. With today's housing market, selling your existing home is not as easy as it used to be. However, I believe in miracles!
"THIS could happen to any animal rescuer" and this is the big fear! Essentially this has arisen from the complaints of two neighbors. Code Enforcement couldn't point out how Judy was in violation, they just said she was. So she can't come into compliance without shutting down! What is to stop them or their equivalents from doing the same to other small independent rescues?
Judy has been rescueing pets in Central Florida since 1992! She lost her shelter due to a zoning issue 18 months ago. Since then she has operated with a network of foster homes. Now Orange County Code Enforcement claims she is operating an animal shelter from her home and given her 6 months to come into compliance or face $250/day in fines, yet they haven't told her what it is that she does that puts her out of compliance! Outrageous!!!
I'm proud to have designed this movie for a great cause, and hope this video sparks ideas, creates discussions, and helps find solutions that will work, and improve the situations for not only the unwanted animals of Central Florida, but for the animals facing Gassing Shelters throughout our country.
My rescues aren't pets they are family members and I couldn't thank the rescues enough for making the effort to save them and eventually leading them to me. No home is complete without the pitter patter of little paws or claws!

I wonder if some of the larger petstores might be interested in donating money for the land as you cannot buy that kind of goodwill and PR/publicity.
taffymom 4 years ago
That is a great idea! I will suggest this to our wonderful fundraising volunteer. What would really help, though, is if people like you and othe members of the general public suggested it to the stores as well. I think the potential PR impact would be more evident to them if the suggestions came from multiple sources. Gosh, doesn't it just seem like somehow, some way, this should happen? Where is the downside for whoever could donate to this cause????
prbj 4 years ago
I know that the big pet stores ask you if you want to donate $1 at the cash register and does anyone know where that money goes? Can any nonprofit apply for it? I saw a sign on the front of Petco and it said they collected all this money for animals so I just wonder who gets that and can Judy apply for any of that?

Actually, we are beneficiaries of some of these donations as we do adoption events at the Altamonte Springs Petco and several Petsmarts.

The world needs more people like this lady!

How unfortunate but true. But we just can't give up, and let those that kick us down win.

EXTREME MAKEOVER for Pet Rescue By Judy.

If you can help, please help
Kind Regards,
Randall

I would wait for the outcome before accusing the county. Maybe, a bitter neighbor put them in a position where they had no choice. We just don't know yet. Time will tell. Making new enemies when the true culprit has not yet been identified is not wise... YET!!!

My neighbor has THREE wonderful dogs they adopted through PRBJ! My six year old son LOVES Frankie, one of the dogs! He is great will all the kids!!!

Wow, not only do people abuse and abandon animals by the zillions, now they want to complain about some trivial BS, and stop those with a heart for the animals from saving their lives. There is a special place in HELL for those types. We need to figure out how to help Judy help the needy animals. This should not be happening.
luvnpugs 4 years ago 2
Sadly, these things don't seem trivial to people because they tend to have a "small world," not looking past their own doorstep. Imagine if all this effort was redirected to a state-wide/nation-wide no-kill solution!
prbj 4 years ago
How can anyone have a problem with someone saving abused animals??? I just don't get it. She must be one miserable human being.

snowgirl1521 4 years ago 2
You know that special joy of volunteering in a rescue. It goes from a way to give back to cause that touches every part of your life. Once you've helped an abused or abandoned pet, you never look at one the same way again. It is my hope that more people will stop turning a blind eye but will become involved in no matter how minor a way! We couldn't do what we do without volunteers like you!
prbj 4 years ago
what scares me is that THIS could happen to any animal rescuer, in any county, in any state. There must be a way to find the right property, close to her volunteers and foster homes, that is properly fenced. With today's housing market, selling your existing home is not as easy as it used to be. However, I believe in miracles!
reckless1962 4 years ago
"THIS could happen to any animal rescuer" and this is the big fear! Essentially this has arisen from the complaints of two neighbors. Code Enforcement couldn't point out how Judy was in violation, they just said she was. So she can't come into compliance without shutting down! What is to stop them or their equivalents from doing the same to other small independent rescues?
prbj 4 years ago
