The funny thing is, all those awesome parts just ended up being different sections of this one song. It's amazing in the changes in tune it has.
But of COURSE, that was a while back, I listened to the music so much, there's no way I can forget them now, Umineko wins.
@JokerVidProductions No a visual novel is like a video game but you just watch the characters interact on screen and read the text. The second part of the Umineko series is still a visual novel. It is called Umineko chiru I suggest you read it since it isint an anime yet. It has new chaacters and Bernkastel acts wayyy different in it.
@Ritsuioko23 I agree with you about the anime sucking compared to the visual novel. I do not know how JokerVidProductions even got to a video for visual novel music when they have only seen the anime. Watching the anime is a huge mistake and people who do so should read ALL of Umineko and not just skip to Chiru, or they will miss important stuff.
Anyway, about Bernkastel acting different in Chiru, I want to disagree there - she was always a bitch, it was just harder to tell at first.

The anime is great to me; however, it skipped so much detail that I kept calling Rosa a bitch and the worst mother ever. I knew even in the anime that she had mood swings, but in the anime, Beatrice said her being uncaring to Maria is her true nature. I'm still reading the VN; however, I love Rosa waaaaay more when I read half of it. So basically, what I'm saying is, Rosa is NOT a bitch at all. They just (and still are) suffered so much that they're a messed up family. It's really sad....
I understand Rosa's view, but that's not the point. The thing is, even if she endured all the pain, the purpose is not to take it out on Maria. It's what her magic was about, like Ange said. Maria wouldn't have pushed all her anger on children if she had any, she "purified it and threw it away." I don't hate Rosa, and I understand why people think she's an awful mother. She's not, she IS indeed a good mother, but she just is blinded by that anger of hers.
Who knows how many times she had lost but eventually meta-rika just gave up. Rika on the gameboard however ran into good luck and that was during the arc when Rena was the victim of the syndrome and Keiichi performed a miracle that she never encountered, which caused the two different entities of Meta-Rika and Gameboard Rika.
Rosa does love maria but she has very bad mood swings. If you recalled what Rosa did she might have actually been pregnant thus causing more mood swings. Thats why you see her snap and then quickly realizes what she had done was horribly wrong. EP 2 is you seeing Rosa more motherly. EP 4 is you seeing Rosa one again losing herself to the mood swings.
Also. . .Bernkastel is Rika and yet not Rika. Remember Rika had went to many worlds now shown in the anime, manga, or VN but she implies it.
In all honesty I think Rosa DOES love her daughter, alot, though she's a young single mother with strange siblings and its not like her dad was the best dad in the world, Maria, no offense despite how cute she is, is spoilt, not saying its her fault, but she is. She doesn't listen to her mother, if she just listened she wouldn't have gone thought all that abuse, in all honesty I think they're both at fault.

@atfyntify Her death is not shown, but she was killed by Kyrie like pretty much everyone else except Battler and Eva. Yasu/Shannon survived the massacre on Rokkenjima escaping with Battler, but commited suicide, Battler tried to save her, but almost drowned which caused him some kind of brain damage and therefore he cant identify with Battler Ushiromiya's person anymore.

@VelvetMarionette meh, i used to student teacher at a hebrew school, and i've seen those that act kinda young. for example, there were always these 2 twins. separate them, and they were geniuses. together, they would act out and take each other's stuff and go back to being 2 and in the sandbox. doesn't mean i slap the crap out of them till they stop :P.
and maria has pretty advanced beliefs for a 9 yr old... i didn't realize i was the second coming till AT LEAST 12 (her ep 7 speech). :P
@digitalpiggy193 I don't really think we can compare anyway. It's different if you are talking about "other children" and "your own son/daughter", the measures taken and how their attitudes affect you are very different.
Though, as I said, the measures taken depend on who applies them and also depend on what has been taught to this person or how has this person lived. A person who has only recieved harm, can only do harm, sadly, even though there are exceptions, it's usually that way.

Also, the part where Maria kills her and Rosa tells her she didn't want her to be born and that she hates her... We have to consider that is a dream, so it isn't really true. On the other hand, we could take that as Maria talking to the "black witch", because it is true that Rosa might have wished sometime that Maria was never born, but it doesn't mean she doesn't love her. It's like she has divided feelings and it is understandable for all that she has been trough...

Honestly, while I don't especially like the artistic style, it's clean, colored, shaded, consistent, and displays a knowledge of perspective and anatomy, plus having great character designs. It's clear that plenty of effort was put in. What I can't stand more than anything is half-assed scribbles treated like real art ('swhy I hate Scott Pilgrim.)

@cherriant2tunes No, you definitely aren't. Everyone I know hates the VN art and it's leading me to believe that I'm the only one who *does* like it. It's not top quality, for sure, but I feel it conveys expressions, feelings and atmosphere a whole lot better than the anime's art does.
Anyone else think that when Rosa goes "I was so stupid. All I needed was my daughter, not the gold", she wasn't referencing the fact that she has been carrying both the ingot and the gun and not Maria. She was instead referencing the fact that she killed a bunch of people to get to the gold that would have solved all of her financial problems.
I love this song. You know, for those who complain about the art style... I did too at first but I did get used to it. It just takes some time. The hands are really weird though.
@Adrastia I agree with you, especially since I saw the anime first and was used to their style. But it grows on you and the story is so good it overrides any artistic talent they lack. Yeah, the hands bother me :P They look incredibly swollen.
You really can't hate Rose. She was looked down at, spited, and bullied by her own family. For years that piled up and shes still able to love her daughter in ways. Shes exactly what would be of a real person if they lived her life. shes so realistic that she is marvelous.

Rosa's not happy and she tries to push that onto Maria. Episode 4 spends a lot of time explaining that. Maria's special because, instead of turning the pain onto other people, she accepts it and makes the best of her situation. She looks for happiness wherever she can find it. She's a believable little girl, too.
Ushiromiya Rosa is the BEST MOM EVER. She would never ever consider abandoning her daughter for free gold, or anything. Because that's not what BEST MOM EVER NINE YEARS RUNNING do. She would also never beat the shit out of her daughter in a crowded train station. Amazing moms like Rosa don't do that.
She's not a selfish, spiteful, angry woman with emotional problems and inferiority complexes that she projects at her idiot of a daughter, because she is SO LOVING AND SWEET

Eventually, it forms two personas: given enough loops and recollections, Frederica Bernkastel is the first; the leftover hatred and sorrow begins to take form. As Rika/Frederica wins against Takano/Lambdadelta, Frederica fuses with the leftover memories to become the Bernkastel we know and love/hate, who carries all kinds of sorrow and hatred and takes it out on the other pieces in the game of Rokkenjima.
@OchaKai yeah, still Lambda doesnt participate in it as if its a gameboard. My guess is since she only helps people that she finds deserving enough, the resolve of Takano intrigued her and Lambda helped Takano to achieve it. Bern is simply a byproduct of a other entity butting in, so to say.
It's from the visual novel. After all, both: manga and anime adaptations of Umineko are pathetically weak and are not worthy of sharing the name with the greatest (or, let's say one of the 3 or 4 greatest) visual novel ever.

Maybe she couldn't afford one or didn't want to, didn't want a strange person to be in her house or had another reason (maybe that this person knew that she was actually on a "holiday"), or simply didn't think about it.
Anyways, what I wanted to make clear is that Rosa loves Maria, that's the most important overall.
Also, I don't see her as a bitch or bad person, she is just a victim...

@digitalpiggy193 Yes, you can't have an absolutely well behaved children at that age. Though, in Maria's case I kind of understand Rosas's shame. None of the things she had done in her life have gone well and the fact that she also has failed to have a "normal" daughter surely makes her feel worse.
I personally think that nine years old isn't an age proper of the attitudes and beliefs of Maria, she acts as a 6 year old. The problem is that Rosa tries to correct Maria using wrong methods...

@VelvetMarionette meh, i used to student teacher at a hebrew school, and i've seen those that act kinda young. for example, there were always these 2 twins. separate them, and they were geniuses. together, they would act out and take each other's stuff and go back to being 2 and in the sandbox. doesn't mean i slap the crap out of them till they stop :P.
and maria has pretty advanced beliefs for a 9 yr old... i didn't realize i was the second coming till AT LEAST 12 (her ep 7 speech). :P

@digitalpiggy193 I don't really think we can compare anyway. It's different if you are talking about "other children" and "your own son/daughter", the measures taken and how their attitudes affect you are very different.
Though, as I said, the measures taken depend on who applies them and also depend on what has been taught to this person or how has this person lived. A person who has only recieved harm, can only do harm, sadly, even though there are exceptions, it's usually that way.

@digitalpiggy193 But well... as said in EP 4, people that have only recieved pain in their lives tend to put that pain onto others, sadly. So that would explain these horrible methods of correction she has with her daughter when she loses control, "the black witch" would be this person who is full of pain and only wants to cause pain to others.
A loving mother exists, but also does that immense amount of pain. So that explains the "bipolarity" of Rosa's behaviour.

Honestly, while I don't especially like the artistic style, it's clean, colored, shaded, consistent, and displays a knowledge of perspective and anatomy, plus having great character designs. It's clear that plenty of effort was put in. What I can't stand more than anything is half-assed scribbles treated like real art ('swhy I hate Scott Pilgrim.)

@cherriant2tunes No, you definitely aren't. Everyone I know hates the VN art and it's leading me to believe that I'm the only one who *does* like it. It's not top quality, for sure, but I feel it conveys expressions, feelings and atmosphere a whole lot better than the anime's art does.

Anyone else think that when Rosa goes "I was so stupid. All I needed was my daughter, not the gold", she wasn't referencing the fact that she has been carrying both the ingot and the gun and not Maria. She was instead referencing the fact that she killed a bunch of people to get to the gold that would have solved all of her financial problems.

You really can't hate Rose. She was looked down at, spited, and bullied by her own family. For years that piled up and shes still able to love her daughter in ways. Shes exactly what would be of a real person if they lived her life. shes so realistic that she is marvelous.

Rosa's not happy and she tries to push that onto Maria. Episode 4 spends a lot of time explaining that. Maria's special because, instead of turning the pain onto other people, she accepts it and makes the best of her situation. She looks for happiness wherever she can find it. She's a believable little girl, too.

Ushiromiya Rosa is the BEST MOM EVER. She would never ever consider abandoning her daughter for free gold, or anything. Because that's not what BEST MOM EVER NINE YEARS RUNNING do. She would also never beat the shit out of her daughter in a crowded train station. Amazing moms like Rosa don't do that.

Easy.
When Rika dies each loop, Hanyuu collects those memories and stockpiles them. Eventually, it forms two personas: given enough loops and recollections, Frederica Bernkastel is the first; the leftover hatred and sorrow begins to take form. As Rika/Frederica wins against Takano/Lambdadelta, Frederica fuses with the leftover memories to become the Bernkastel we know and love/hate, who carries all kinds of sorrow and hatred and takes it out on the other pieces in the game of Rokkenjima.

@OchaKai yeah, still Lambda doesnt participate in it as if its a gameboard. My guess is since she only helps people that she finds deserving enough, the resolve of Takano intrigued her and Lambda helped Takano to achieve it. Bern is simply a byproduct of a other entity butting in, so to say.
