In a music shop near me they were selling this 24" ride second hand in excellent condition for €200! But when I had the money, it was sold! I was gutted!
dude i finally had enough money to buy me a 2002 2" ride or 24" ride
and i tought of you and bonham in the shop and i bought the 24" dude what a great cymbal thanks for giving me advise ! i love it! one's you go 24" you'll never go back ! ;)
Paiste 22" 2002, 22" SF, 24" GB but when I went to the Paiste website, I listened to the sound clips they have and I quickly decided the 24" 2002 had the sound I was after.
Watching you has inspired me. I bought an 18" tom, got rid of the small drums in my Pearl set, arranged in 1 up 2 down, got a set of 2002 15" hats, a 18" medium crash, and a 24" ride. I got the symbols for $800 total, brand new. Audio-candy! I only just started playing recently, so I still suck, but at least now my cymbals sound good! One question, your ride sounds more "high" (less bell-ish) and bright than the clips on the Paiste site and my cymbal in real life. How do you accomplish that?
Great price! About the sound of the ride, it's probably due to the recording. I usually leave the overhead mics flat (no eq) so perhaps what you are hearing at Paiste is them adding a little eq (high end) to the recording and the sound you are hearing in person depends on the reflections of your room. A smaller and/or reflective room will make cymbals sound brighter. Anyway you look at it, for a beginner you're off to a great start with this cymbal setup!! Thanks for your message:)
Tilt them so they are not sitting flat and make sure your felts are not squeezing the cymbal too tight. Other than that, don't hit them so hard. Cymbals are loud as it is and can be very dynamic so use that to your advantage.
Aweswome drumming my friend..Love the 24'' ride.I had me a 22'' 2002 beautiful..I was stupid and sold her..Paiste are the biz..and your drumming has inspired me just like Mr.Bonham did..fromacross the pond.uk.
Hi Dan! Like your 2002 Ride! I like mine too! Love your druming and teaching as you have helped many of us! I also just bought one of those speed kings from a guy called jesse from Lakewood,CO? From Drum Mechanix. A super modified Speed King?
Looks nice and tight. I am looking for the guy you mentioned you got yours from. I can't find him. I did find one guy from Chicago though.
Man your drumming is infectious! Every time I watch one of your vids I just want to pick up my sticks. Been watching you for a year or so now and I've got to say I've never been disappointed. TOP NOTCH !!! thanks!
Man I've been following your videos for a couple months now, and I can't get over the clarity of your set and cymbals! Your an amazing drummer and your videos have really helped me with my drumming.
Have you always gone with paiste, or has it become more of a personal preference?
It's awesome to hear your kind words! I've had Sabian and Zildjian cymbals before and was quite happy with them until they got ripped off from a practice hall. After, one of the guys I do sessions for felt so bad for me that he bought me that 20" Paiste power ride that you have seen in these vids. That started the interest in buying more Paiste. I have to say however that if the cymbal sounds good, it doesn't really matter who makes it but Paiste has been my preference.
Nice cymbal man. I play a Sound Formula (round logo) Dry Ride and am considering the Giant Beat 24". Just not sure I want to tackle that much cymbal :)
Great sound as always. If you get the Giant Beat 20" you will be loving the sound. I play Giant Beats and they are awesome and I bet they even sound better when recorded. Can't wait to hear 'em when you get 'em.
I like to put this video on then sneak about the house hiding behind things in the quiet parts and then pouncing out and moving dramatically to the loud bits.
If anybody out there is in the closet you can make your first step out by replying to this post (^.o)
@gosgood1973 nice! i think zildjians sound better. even high end paiste bells on their cymbals sound like they do on cheapys. andf i still dont get why people but remo heads for ludwig drums. i have 2 5" steel supraphonics 1 w remo and 1 w a ludwig head and the ludwig sounds just as good if not better and i dont have to worry about ludwig sliping out of its hoop like what happens w remo.
@GrooveDrummin I noticed that you too use both the traditional grip as well as the matched grip.
