No offense but It wouldn't work simply because Jamie wasn't a handicap until later in the second book if my memory servers me correctly. Making him handicap from the start would defeat a major part of plot with the Lansister's IMO.
I do not even think flashbacks would work I want to hate Jamie like I did in the beginning of the book thinking what an arrogant SOB he is not feel sorry for him and making him handicap would not do that.
@Tclones1 yeah i agree and actually he wasn't even handicap until midway through the 3rd book. so it would be pretty unrealistic to hire a handicap actor at the start of the series. assuming it even makes it to season 3.
So just totally alter(and ruin) a great character and story arc just so there can be a handicapped actor playing the role. While we're at it,let's have the actor playing Sandor Clegane burn half of his face off.
There is no way you can be Jaime Lannister, handicapped or not. Just your voice alone is not even good enough to be Jaime Lannister's. You couldn't even be Jaime Lannister's finger. The man has no motto, thinks of nothing but his temptation and desire. I saw both your videos, and there is no way possible you can be play someone like him. As described in George's books you don't fit the description of any of the characters, I am sorry to say this but lets be realistic here.
I have read, what I believe, is the final draft shooting script of the pilot episode. I think it was verified as authentic somewhere, but I cannot remember where. That is exactly how the first episode end. I think they are following the books pretty closely, just cutting out some characters and events to fit the one book per season schedule. Even though Bran cannot walk for the majority of the story, he still runs around a lot in the beginning, which gives his 'accident' that much more gravity.
Also, like I said, I am not against handicapped actors. I just think this particular role would be a problem. 'Reversing' the image wouldn't work, like it did in say, Pride Of The Yankees (to achieve the left handed batting effect). I think it would be too distracting for the viewer, in terms of how obvious the manipulation of the composition of each shots would have to be to mask the fact of his handicap. And this would go on for about 28 episodes. It would be an endless headache for the DP
Jaime isn't going to be a subdued role. The first episode ends with him throwing Bran out the window. The final lines of the episode are 'The things I do for love'
And you really can't make him not an important role, because it is his character transformation that is one of the great stories of the novels.
Just for the record. I wrote the two posts from sirhop111. I am at his computer and just didn't think to log into my own account. He has not read these books, so any comments made toward him will end with a resounding, 'WTF'
Also, there would be the added hassle of finding a competent (in acting and in the physical demands), specifically handicapped actor. It would be neigh impossible. And the added financial cost of the 'reverse' FX? HBO already shuts down critically acclaimed series because of cost overruns. Don't give them another to not pick this show up. (For the record, it has not been greenlit for production, HBO has only ordered a pilot). I am all for all inclusive whatever, but this is a bad idea.
The character of Jaime Lannister is one of the best swordsmen of his age. He is unmolested for the entirety of the first two books Why would it be 'neat' to hire an actor that is handicapped, if the character is not handicapped for 1600 out of the 3200 (or so) pages of the four books. Do you think it would have been easier or more courageous for them to cast a legless actor for the role of Lt. Dan in Forest Gump. It would have been impossible. This is the same thing.
This was a fucking stupid video. Take it down.

It would be, I think, too difficult to have a "handicapped" man play a "whole" man for the long long time before Jaime becomes "handicapped."
