the explanation for the knife catching scene is simple. the scene is shot and then reversed where he starts off with the knife in his mouth and someone probably pulls it out with a string and then he proceeds to put the toothbrush in his mouth. his voice is way to perfectly pronounced for someone with a knife in his mouth which was an added sound effect later on. because the film is so quick it presents the perfect illusion that he truely caught it in his mouth
