  • To all you people, who said you don't like John or whatever blahh blahh. Fuck you, like you could ever be as cool as him, fuckers. -_-

  • Paul is much more pleasant to listen to.

  • I could listen to John all day . No bullshit just straight talking. More more more

  • Can someone say 'MORON?'

  • I LOVE JUSTIN BIEBER AND THE CLASH I THINK THAT JUSTIN BIEBER SHOULD BE THE LEAD SINGER NOW THAT JOE STRUMMER IS DEAD!!

  • @highclassnobody Unsuccessful troll.

  • @highclassnobody Dumbfuck. What is it with you kids and justin beiber? I've heard OF him a few times, but I don't give him a thought...

  • Boom Boom Boom: you got music; add another note, you got a song: now we knowit.

  • This man is a fucking god

  • fighting over punk...... sad...... nobody on here is a poser. if u like the music, then u like it, u cant be "more punk" than someone else. jesus christ every fucking video that deals with punk (crust, original, hardcore) theres always some fight over justin bieber. HES A FUCKING POP ARTIST, who cares! we all know hes only doin it for money

  • Hahahahaha re forming would be soooo wrong. Especially re forming, playing the old tunes like a greatest hits tour like say the rolling stones.........John u kill me -:0)

  • I would LOVE to take a time machine back to this interview and play John the butter commercial he did on my laptop. He'd probably jump out the window!

  • lol honesty is the best policy

  • do yourself a favor all of you and stop talking about the japanese like fucking colonialists. after ww2 they had americans all over themselves. do you really think that with all that perfection they are capable of they couldnt teach a reporter to speak english? do you really think the guy doesnt understand what johnny means? he is just being polite. and he thinks before he speaks. that are things that western media simply lack.

  • "The day the Sex Pistols ceased to exist was the day they became important and relevant."

This man is brilliant. I don't care if he does sell butter now...LOL

  • I saw the Clash when I was 14 in NY,it was amazing,I'm so glad I was lucky enough to have seen them. Plus it was a really small gig..with about 35 people. Love the Clash, classic band that sounds as fresh and timeless now as they did when they were first formed.

  • hes not being mean hes being honest as fuck its great

  • Hahaha John cannot fucking stand this guy.

  • @Nigelxman Paul or the interviewer?

  • @HaroldAFowls The interviewer.

  • John Lydon confuses me. To just general people he seems to be lovely, yet to interviewers he seems to come across as quite arrogant. On interviews lately he seems lovely too. Then I see him in tweed advertising country life and I wonder what happened...

  • @CaseyCain85 Nothing confusing. It's was always just an "act" with John in old interviews and as he grew older he got sick of putting on that "act". John has always just been about what is going to benefit him personally. He knows the angry, disenchanted young man bit isn't gonna work these days.

  • Paul Simonon = class. John Lydon = ASS.

  • @iwantcompletecontrol You = PISS OFF. stupid fuck

  • @Stratery Hahaha your panties are in a knot over me dissing John Lydon. Didn't know I had so much power LMAO

  • @iwantcompletecontrol you are stupid

  • @TheRAPERone1 And you are great with insults LMAO

  • Yep, that would be evil and mean to re form wouldn't it, and no doubt the idea of advertising butter.....dick.

  • Led Zeppelin is so ffucking awesome

  • 2:59 Lol at all those people getting thrown off stage.

  • Fuck led zeppelin! those prissy upper class wannabes who stole black peoples music! they literally stole songs! They aren't even creative and they are no different from commercial pop, songs about sex and women. Led Zeppelin is garbage!

  • @tacosaucemafia you don't have friends. people who don't like zeppelin do not have friends. that's science.

  • They all talk shit about Us , but end up coming here to live once they can!!

  • Telling it like it is. My hero

  • PIL is pretty shitty

  • Johnny just specks his mind! :D

  • Johnny Rotten= Idiot.

  • Johnny Rotten is cool

  • Was johnny rotten an asshole? maybe, he was jjust a pissed off person, and hated how stupid people are. he knows what he was doing.

  • @RiioandQue No hes just a twat

  • johnny rotten is an asshole.

  • 0:05 to 0:14 "I feel awful Ive got an headache, next question?" love it :D

  • what song was pil playing live?

  • @queenstreetwestpunk "Annalisa" ...I remember a reviewer saying it sounded like Zeppelin , which makes NO sense , whatsoever. Obviously ,Lydon liked Led Zeppelin. His opening theme song on the PIL '86 tour was "Kashmir". By the mid - 80's , bands like Led Zeppelin and Kiss were gaining Punk cred , anyway. I did'nt go along with it , personally, but bands like Redd Kross and Flaming Lips were making it safe to like more Mainstream Rock and Punk at the same time.

  • Fuck off Paul, stop bashing Heavy Metal and Led Zeppelin.

  • @GEETARS3 He wasn't bashing Zeppelin.

He's saying that because so many kids adore them and Jimmy Page was a genius guitarist.

And it may seem to them its so fucking hard to do it.

Also Kids back then probally thought that they had to be godlike to play in a band

  • i gotta admit im not a fan :^( its easy 2 criticise n thats all rotten does in all his interviews 'this is crap, u are crap blah blah blah'..i admire the movement, just not the ppl who spawned it.

  • @upthebracket24 originality is overrated

  • "I hate the day time I'm the creature of the night" Right on man I'm the same way :)

  • JOHN LYDON ROCKS!!

    I LOVE HE ACTITUD

  • Comment removed

  • Why are Johnny Lydon and Henry Rollins so pretentious and boring?

  • Johnny comes off as such a jerk. It might be difficult for some people, possibly even including him, to see past that. We don't love him because he can be an a-hole. He was touched by something very special in those years with the Pistols and the early PiL.That genius still stands and can be seen clearly even thirty and more years later. The bad behavior and schtick we tolerated because we had to.

Reminds me a bit of Amy Winehouse, except Johnny never fell into the die young trap.

  • @mikentosh im srry, Y THE FUCK ARE U HERE?

  • Lydon is a dick.

  • @mikentosh his as rude as fuck

  • @mikentosh why ?

  • @gamesplaystation1 Why is he a dick? I don't know. He's a pop star. Lucky as all fuck to make a living at it, having people he will never know or meet, spend+money+time+effort to buy his product, see him perform etc. Media outlets actually seek to interview him. Free promotion. And he's a FUCKING DICK to the interviewer.Acting like he fucking cured cancer or split the fucking atom. Total asshole. And at least twice, the person doing the interview....english wasn't their 1st language.

  • @mikentosh ...So they were being very polite...trying to speak english as well as they could, and conduct the interview....And he was a fucking dick to them when there was no need. One japanese guy didn't even know Lydon was being a rude dickhead to him, 'cause he didn't know english well enough. But he politely continued with the interview, obviously confused with Lydons shit replies...Lydon=arrogant cocksucker and this is not a love song

  • @mikentosh Just shut up please. You may not like him but he wasnt a dick he was honest. If you dont like him its your problem, just dont say he is a dick. He is...punk

  • @Stratery Get bent.

  • @mikentosh You re the dick here.

  • @Stratery Being an asshole has nothing to do with Punk Rock, or being a Punk. What a fucking cliche! Only a clueless poser, or maybe a clueless kid/poser would say something like "..don't say he's a dick. He is Punk". As if that gives him license to be a prick. He's just a man who has some 'Celebrity' + people (like you + your friends here) let the Famous get away with shit that you, me or anyone here, couldn't get away with, or even put up with, if someone tried that bullshit.

  • @mikentosh Totally agree. & since we have Paul Simonon being interviewed here, we might as well point out that the Clash, unlike Lydon, never made a career out of being assholes. In everything I've seen/heard of with them, they were never rude or disrespectful to anyone. Joe Strummer was known for being a genuinely nice guy who made everyone feel like a friend. Lydon meanwhile seems like he'd go off on you if you so much as looked at him the wrong way. How cool, being an unlikeable douche bag!

  • @iwantcompletecontrol An old friend had David J (Bauhas, Love+Rockets) play at his wedding...my buddy said he spoke to him about music/favorite bands etc. and David J said that Joe Strummer was one of the most genuinely nicest people he'd ever met! It was nice to hear.

  • @mikentosh u must be an Justin Bieber fan...u r dick...Johnny Rotten is living legend...PUNK'SNOT DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ljubitelj99 Bieber? I'll bet you had his haircut last week! Now you have a punk-ish hair-doo u saw in a magazine and got @ the mall after you found some tint at 'Hot-Topic'..the same place you bought your 1st 'punk' poster (that your mommy+daddy don't approve of!) along with that Chia-Pet you've always wanted. I hate to tell you, but Punk is Dead. It died when it became popular enough that the 'Jock+Frat-Boy' crowd found out about it. And in 6 months U'll pose as sumthin else.

  • @mikentosh Agree with ljubitelj99 you are probably a justin bieber fan who has no balls to argue. You are a fuckin loser. Stupid dickhead.

  • @Stratery Beiber insult again? U Must be a kid! I've been listening to punk and post-punk since the early Eighties. Got my 1st mohawk+bleached hair+piercings+Creepers+Pegged pants etc. 26 fucking years ago. I've seen The Clash twice, Lydon with P.i.L 3-4 times, The Romones x3..I could go on+on. But I never acted like I was the 1st to do it, like U fukin posers do. I still listen 2 all that stuff. What will you B listening 2 in 25yrs U PoserFaggotCliche! Get Lydon's cock out of ur ass.

  • laughing

  • IN TOKYO POSY , as japanese i feel so this is right. Tokyo is fucked with radio activity.

please watch "ANDI SEX GANG KAMIKAZE BEAUTY"

  • Lol Paul is just so much easier to talk to and approachable than Johnny rotten.

  • He maybe an intelligent person, but I can't look at him the same way again after he did that butter advert!

  • @ReadyAimDuck Well that's absurd because he helped a small company with their sales, but I guess wearing a leather jacket and acting like an idiot is way better than helping people put food on their plate. Great view you have.

  • @tacosaucemafia Oh please. Listen to the video. 2:42 "I won't promote nobody but myself". Now fak off.

  • hes mad but good

  • hey that's not cool to talk about japanese like that. it's your fans for fuck's sake, they bought your goddamn reccords.. anyway. respect for that guy though

    Paul Simonon rocks! :)

  • @bloodyfication He meant tokyo only.

  • @EngoBadGuy whatever i'm sure they didn't do that much dates in japan. at least he's being honest

  • John is, was and always will be a brilliant man!

  • i can hardly hear the interview for the music in the background.

  • Actually in this interview, Lydon is just being a Dick. .He has no understanding of Asia, Japan, Confucianism or any of their cultural values so he continues responding as though the man with the mic is an English Reporter with the same values, attitudes, life experiences and points of view. He is railing against nothing, or more aptly, the wrong concept.

  • Punk is just the way forward.

  • He is trying too hard to be badass - Im not a hater or anything, its just he is acting a little

  • Oh Paul, my love, my heroe <3

    LOVE YOU

  • @JuliaStrummer wasn't he just the most polite guy! Besides being hot, of course...

  • @SuperLapsap he's a really great guy and the best bass player ever!

  • Oh yeah, "re-organizing the pistols would be evil, and wrong".

Got a bigger boat now ya dodgy old bender? haha!

Yeah yeah, that was then this is now - pity you couldn't write or sing, and do anything worthwhile since. Gotta love that he advertises butter, and iffy pop advertises insurance whatever? Oh yeah, choose to love that you 'consumers'

  • johnny rotten whether he likes it or not is punk rock incarnate

  • In what year was this interview?

  • @InterinoMM7787

In the year 1983, Japanese TV.

  • 'I won't promote no-one but myself' ... and Countylife Butter, gotta love the man :D

  • @SidLydon79 ThE SeX PIsTolS are God!!

  • "The day the Sex Pistols ceased to exist was the day they became important and relevant... that's always the case. "

    Johnnny

  • HE IS A HONEST "CELEBRITY"

  • Fuck John Lydon. Simonon is a great guy!

  • "Evil & wrong"?

....'Filthy Lucre Tour' 1996 reunion tour? :D

Lydon is a hypocrite. Lovable though he is.

  • they spelled simonon "simnom"

  • isnt it usualy the older you get the more smart and quiet? not the other way around?

  • Comment removed

  • Paul Simonon is totally right about how it feels like you must go to college for one hundred years to learn guitar! Punk music had a great influence on non-technical but brilliant bands like Joy Division, for example. I think Punk has given confidence to people who felt they could never become a Jimi Hendrix but had very creative ideas and raw energy.

  • @Dandelionblowaway jimi hendrix never took a lesson, but he had a great point

  • @Dandelionblowaway very correct

  • What a shame that most of the comments here focus on the redheaded stepchild of punk appearing at the start of this clip instead of on the unpretentious class act that follows

  • @SuperAkebono You just Said what i was thinking in this exact moment!

  • @SuperAkebono

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Sex Pistols have way better songs than The Clash.

  • @GEETARS3

read my comment, I'm not talking about the quality of the music of either band, I'm talking about the marked contrast in personal character between the two people being interviewed. as for which band has better songs, that is purely a matter of beauty being in the eye of the beholder. johnny supports this view in his TV commercial: he doesn't say country life butter IS the best; he says he THINKS it tastes the best...

  • @SuperAkebono

Well, he said the butter commercial funded the PIL tour, he problem doesnt make much money anymore because kids are downloading his records.

  • @GEETARS3

well, at least johnny rotten always spoke the truth...um, at least HE himself always said that he spoke the truth, usu. right before he ever said anything controversial that he would later contradict thru his own actions. Ex. his PIL butter funding! Too bad his countless mindless minions don't realize that johnny rotten is a persona, not a person. john lydon is a crafty entertainer & businessman who made a good career out of the contradictary righteous indignation of johnny rotten

  • @GEETARS3 not sure about that.

sex pistols had Holidays in the sun,God save the queen and Bodies

The Clash had Straight to hell london calling and Clampdown.

    Can't decide

  • @kildare97 thats why both the jam and the damned beat em both

  • @salvadory Nah I love the clash.

I also love the sex pistols

  • @kildare97 i love em all but ill still take the jam and the damned

  • my god i love him

  • Poor japanese guy

  • The look of pure disgust on Lydon's face as the reporter asks these banal questions is priceless.

  • "Next question, please!" . He has used that sentence in every interview for over 34 years. It shows how pissed off he is when the journalist is asking lame questions. John Lydon FTW!

  • a big differents between these two guys... i like johny rotten more:)

  • surprise, surprise.Johnny is actually quite pleasant here.Guess he can be when he wants to be.

  • johnny rotten now sells butter on t.v

  • Sex Pistols < The Clash

  • @QuadropheniaBrosef The Clash are better but the Sex Pistols are more influential to me.

  • rotten seems like a poser himself still trying to be so angsty in his 30's or however old he is here.i love pil but hes such an asshole

  • Sex Pistols > The Clash

  • Music's more then Sound!

  • Paul Simonon just seems like a genuine, down-to-Earth guy.. what's not to love? <3 and from the video... Johnny seems really narciscistic and arrogant. The Clash's music speak more to me than the sex pistols.. The Clash lyrics really get me thinking. They sang about hardships and injustice... the difference between the Clash and the Sex Pistols? The Clash were intelligent.

  • Paul Simonon is the epitome of class. John Lydon is a twat. It shows in this film.

  • A message to gamer4life444~Hello, I need to correct my response to your comment a month ago about me posting many posts on this page. When I said, "I had fond memories of the Pistols" that was not true. I meant when my cousin was socializing with me. He was letting me hear the Pistols. I couldn't stand them at the time... I still don't like the lyrics. I love the man John Lydon though.

  • I love Johnny and he tells it like it is! The chap has some big balls.

  • @glutusmaximus sex pistols ARE punk

  • Comment removed

  • This mutherfucker has'nt changed.. he haas always been a fuckwit but I think he is great,,, pure muthurfucking entertainment and the pistols were the godfathers of punk... Unfortunately public image are pure fuckin shite in every context,, absolute crap.....

  • i would fuck him the ass,.ehe is almost a boy

  • johnny was always an arrogant prick ...often he was right on the money,,, but yeah a it cocky...

  • He looks so pissed when the line "Your first group The Sex Pistols....." drops lol

  • HAHA I thought Simonon Was the Japenese Interviewer who had a name similar to an icon of mine XD HAHAHA I even imagined it in an aggressive Japanese accent.

  • Paul Simnon...what a guy, nearly as good as Paul Simonon...

  • I wonder why no one interviews him anymore?

  • he's posessed by the devil!

  • LMAO. HE HATED TOKYO <3

  • when was this?

  • john lydon is a pretty inteligent person all though some would think hes just a punk from a punk rock band of the 70s far from it he spoke the truth and didnt give a shit what anyone thinks i respect him 100% for that yet as a kid i couldnt stand all this punk rock stuff im now 42 and think john is brilliant

  • @redfenderguy

If he really was a bit intelligent then he maybe could consider that people hate agressive behaviour like Lydon does. You have normal IQ and emotional IQ. On the Emot. IQ level he scores like zero. Even when he was a bit older he still liked it to make people angry bout him. He must be very frustrated or had a personal mental dissease i guess. Still i can enjoy sometimes the way people like Lydon live. It is his life :)

  • @redfenderguy Funny, it's the opposite with me - as a kid I loved what he was doing, and I loved almost everything he said...now? He's still pretty sharp, granted, but he's left most of his brains behind - talks a load of crap mostly.

  • @redfenderguy brilliant? hes just an egoistic bastard full of shit, telling people what they want to hear...just full of shit.

  • @BoltaVS he is was and will always be but thats exactly what makes him brilliant.

  • To: gamer4life444: You don't understand, I was a teen when The Pistols where Touring & creating records. They are a part of my fond memories. YouTube seems to like anyone's comment, no limit...It seems people verbally attacking Lydon. People shouldn't cridtize so much.

  • @blondehannah100 shut up

  • @APlike2skate ~callm down! You all need to get saved. What's this attitude? I don't care what consequences may happen. Don't let the devil control you. Jesus said, "I am the way and truth and Life no one comes to the father but by Me [Jesus Christ of Nazaeth-Galilee Israel. That is found in the book of John 14: 6 in the Bible. Amen.

  • @blondehannah100 I was just pointing that out. I like the both of them but John could have more of an upbeat attitude. I admire that he truely belives in his ideas. He could express it in a happier manner though.

I'm only 15 now but I wish I was around in the years of The Clash, The Pistols and The Ramones I'd love to have seen them live! I like Sid Vicious and all but hes not much of an idol for me as a Bass player. He kinda sucked... lol

  • @gamer4life444 It was never about the music. So they could have got a bloke with no fingers on bass, and the message would still be the same, none of them were brilliant at what they did, but together the music and the message was awesome.

  • @gamer4life444 Hello, I tuned into Public Image Ltd. last month. the music among others contributed to music healing relief I was listening to it for that. I saw a little thumbnail of Depeche mode interviewed by Julie Brown~music scene TV host from the '80's. Their intermission of music on their show was Public Image. I decided to seek them out on youtube.

  • @gamer4life444 Dear Gamer~I am not an expert at observing about these artists...I have been listening to music a long time...since I was very young. Look at the bigger scope...music has caused barriers of many people of different backrounds to work with one another. Each person is different...and every artist has thier own chosen way to express themselves. My cousin was a fan of the Pistols. He would expose me to music that was diverse to me.

  • @gamer4life444 Dear Gamer~you don't have to "Idolize" anyone. Follow Jesus Christ. He is the real deal. To me music heals. I have been praying for musicians to get saved. Last month I investagated the info on John Lydon. I knew some people thot of John Lydon as trash, I guess...He is loud, cusses, doesn't conform to the pop scene but was not the whole point of his radicalness? I listened to him a lot to try and understand him. I did not get him until I realized his situation in London.

  • John Lydon found ways to be himself and express what he felt by choosing his own style...perhaps he was being a leader to other people his age to break out of the strict culture around him. He cut off his hair, dyed it green or orange, wore ragged clothes...how fun...

  • @blondehannah100 do you relize you have posted the last 10 comments... in a row?

  • I finally, "got" the beat & Love this "Punk" beat...It took 19 years...what I really like about John Lydon is he is "Honest". He prefers what ever he sees fit. The world couldn't handle this because they are either on drugs washing their brains out or they are strict high class fuddy duddies who can't accept young people who alarming them to reality...

  • All John Lydon wanted was to be himself...who he really was as a person. There are too many cultures in Britain that don't accept the differences of another. To be in Ireland you have to be Irish. To be in London you have to conform to their politix.

  • I just realized John Lydon's rebellion was similar to my rebellion that I felt when I was a preteen. My family tried to press me in to "their" version of a mold they thot I should be. There was a lot of tension with my parent who was trying to force me into his conformingism. Haven't we all had the same trial & tribulation?

  • John Lydon rebelled against the conformingism in London. The upper class people in his school rejected anyone who was different then them. People were made to feel awkward if you did not conform.

  • I understand John Lydon. He lived in London in the poor side of town. Other English neighbors harassed him for being with Jamaicans. There was racism in London against the Jamaicans & the Irish. Was he an outcast?

  • In 1977 I couldn't stand the "Sex Pistols" or John Lydon's tuneless singing. Now, I Love him. I even think he is handsome in his own way. He had such a cute face in an 1978 interview in London.

  • In 1977 I couldn't stand the "Sex Pistols" or John Lydon's tuneless singing

  • As for John Lydon, yes, in a way I would prefer him not to use "F" cursing word, but John was still on a journey to improvement. Don't cast stones at him. He who is perfect cast the 1st stone!

  • To whoever used the "F" cursing word, please, are U judging? Clean up your language

  • What a fucking idiot..punkking my ass...talks like a fucking 14.y old teenager...grow up motherfucker!

  • It would be cool if John and Paul formed a new band.

  • Johnny's why everyone thinks punks gotta be assholes and spit on everyone around them. Hell, Simonon's at least got a reason to be rude if he ever is. Speaking your mind is one thing-- just being a blatant asshole because you CAN is another.

  • @xFreakshowDreams What would a fan of "Pokemon Theme Song REVENGE!" know ?

How about you go and share your wisdom on Pokemon or Radiohead or Coldplay vid, you moron ?

  • hahaha Johnny Rotten is such an asshole

  • @thekillers1stfan Stick to Shakira ? *snorts*
