I dont care if band of brothers is better or the pacific, all i say is that both are epic. and i dont know why people discuss but you must know this is not about what's the best series but it is a tribute to those who fought in that 'war'
The dead Jap that Sledge was gonna yank the teeth from fucked the scene up. At first you can clearly see his eyes are closed shut when Sledge has his hand on his head, then when he pushes it away his eyes are wide open staring right into the camera...
Out of the 2 I like the Pacific more, Mostly beacuse my father fought in it on Iwo Jima and Tarawa. Band of brothers was great but The Pacifc really showed the emotion and how the characters changed from the begining to the end
@Snako85 Band of Brothers = The Pacific. Quit being a troll and respect that both miniseries are fantastic, and offered a well done portrayal of the soldiers it portrayed.
@dharmajazzbum Yeah it was designed to show how sledge has changed from episode 5 to 9 and his loss of morality after combat and how he regains it at the end of part 9
@mac19971 in band of brothers part 9 there was n nazi deayh camp and it was treally depressing in part 7 artillery strikes were killing many people and the dramatic feel of band was just better than the pacific
@mac19971 yea. ill admit, BoB had a better formula, but The Pacific really went into the soldiers perspective and showed the true horrors of war, something which i believe was missing from BoB. It also showed how pointless it all was, and how it was just a bunch of kids taking lives and losing lives. It was indeed a much more emotional series because of this. Episode 9 and 10 left a mark on me.
@playstationextremist Same here Bro, same here. Like the time Snafu was throwin' pebbles into that japanese soldiers head, THE TOP OF HIS HEAD WAS GONE.... AS IF HIS HEAD WERE A CUP...... It was kinda Grizzly, Savage, yet Humorous at that part. As well as the time Sledge slipped in a mud stream and landed into that have ruptured Corpse. Nasty.. LOL.
@mac19971 yea after the lady with the baby is blown up by the japanese, and Sledge and Snafu are inside that hut looking at that crying baby, wondering if it was a trap or not. That scene was one of the most suspenseful and mind-numbing scenes i have ever seen. It worried me, and thats what i think the Pacific did a great job doing. It made you feel for the characters and made it feel as though you were experiencing the same horrors.
@playstationextremist EXCTLY MY FRIEND!!!!! IT HAD THE MOST HARSHEST THIGS A HUMAN WOULD COME ACROSS IN WAR........ BOB....... Did not have it........
@Liverpool1337 i havn't seen them all yet. but from what i've seen i think its prettey even. i liked how BoB had TONS of characters. The Pacific has way less. but i like teh fighting better. its more gritty i think. but i still love them both.
@whiteknightdarkworld wow, way to show respect. Good to know D-day, Caan, Arnhem, Stalingrad, Kursk, The ardennes, Anzio, Sicily, Crete, the Air-war, the Atlantic, The seelow heights, Berlin...etc etc were such a stroll.
@whiteknightdarkworld Erm I hate to say it but maybe you should check your facts and prejudices first? Soviet casaulties at the battle of stalkingrad were of the order of 1.1-1.2 million (including maybe 300 million dying). The battle is commonly acknowledged as amongst the most horrific and intense in human history. Total US casaulties for the entire pacific theatre were in the order of 1/4 of this.
I'm not saying the pacific war wasn't horrific, I'm saying europe was too.
best episode so far, i always thought E. Sledges memoir was the best. this episode captures alot of what effected me in the book. ive never even been near a war, but i felt a little "older" after i read this.
"With the old breed" :Eugene B. Sledge. it should be required high school reading. imho
This was easily the best episode yet. It really showed the horror of fighting the suicidal japanese on Peleliu and the mental drain it placed on the soldiers. You actually are beginning to know who the characters are.
I found The Pacific much more harrowing and moving than BoB

I noticed an interesting find with ep 7 and ep 9. It has to do with Sledge's view on surrender. Did anyone else notice it?

@Snako85 Yeah, but this mini series had a new variety, the ending of the series was VERY SAD. You saw the entire series right? from chapter 1 to 10?
