Her technique is incredible, but someone here mentioned that she lacks emotion and I totally agree.. As far as the male variation goes, noone can compare to the way Nureyev performed it! Zelensky doesn't come close, unfortunately..

The foot thing is called fish hooking. In an extension, a ballet dancer will crook his or her feet outwards to make the line of their leg look longer. I don't think it looks very nice at all personally

Svetlana Zakharova has a great technique but she definitely lacks in emotions. She's just showing off her extensions and I must say they're totally not necessary here. Like previous commenters pointed, her fouettés were all over the place but they were ok. It was an ok performance.

Her fouettés were amazing perfect! She made 32 of them in this tempo and hight and they were NOT all over the place! And she does NOT lack emotions! Her extension are amazing awsome and makes her line more beautiful. she has what not every professional dancer has and she should show it (*___@ She is extraordinary beautiful and perfect in technique.

Her technique is impeccable and her control is beyond anything I can describe. I am utterly amazed and mesmerized by this talent and discipline. Of course, her partner is equally talented--but unless he has that " je ne sais quoi" that only a very few male dancers possess, he never seems to achieve the same recognition.

I don't think her performance was that great. Her fouettes were not great. Her artistry is severely lacking. Her performance looks like it's plastered in her face. Sure, she has nice feet but their were some very obvious mistakes and shakey parts. Pause around 5:34 and you can see in her face she is laboring.

her fuettes are not clean and they are everywhere. Compare with Viengsay Valdes who has such a clean fuettes and piruettes. However she is so delicate and refined. I personally don't like her fuettes at all.not everything is about super extensions but also look at her fixed piruettes.

Technically, I think Zakharova is better than Fonteyn, Zelensky equals Nureyev- technicaly. But emotionally, Fonteyn/Nureyev every time.

Well dont forget that ballet today is very differrent to ballet back in Fonteyn and Nureyevs time. Technique wise ballet dancers today are much stronger than back then, but artistry was stronger in nureyev and fonteyn. But unfortunately technique wise nereyev and fonteyn are not close to the technique of these dancers whilst theyre ability to develop a role artistically in my opinion is stronger which is the reason why they are remembered as ballet gold even up to this day and age.

Sorry, but Nureyev and Baryshnikov were smaller thanZelensky and as you know tall height can play an unfunny joke to the execution of jumps and pirouettes - a tall dancer turns slowly and slowly jumps, he needs time to get along with his long legs and arms, but smaller dances have more virtuosity. Zakharova has such beautiful lines and her and Zelensky dance really well together. However, I can't believe that someone said such terrible things about Fonteyn!!! She had technique, it was just more subtle, obviously than Svetas. I also think Fonteyn had something Sveta always seems to be lacking. Acting ability. She was a prima ballerina assoluta for a reason.

Before watching this video, I absolutely hated Zakharova, I don't know why, maybe she's too cold for me. But now I can see she's a real ballerina, she feels the music, she controls her body like nobody else...

Just, just an observation that still bothers me: I think she dance all the roles in the same way, beautiful lines, amazing technique, but nothing about STYLE... her Giselle is so "classic", for example.

I'm sure it's a sound sync problem with the video. It actually carries on to Zakharova's solo and the coda as well. You can actually see at 8:23 the conductor gives the cut off and the sound doesn't stop for another couple of seconds.

 It'd really be incredibly hard to actually dance that off the music. Your body actually stops you if you have a shred of musicality, and Zelensky has plenty. Still very jarring to watch, though.
