  • Egad! That's such an AWFUL Riddler! No offence to Astin, but compared to Gorshin he is just awful. I mean, he doesn't give you the psycho thrill, or the goofy laugh that Gorshin did.

  • lol even the riddler has a personalized scuba suit

  • Poor robin his thing so he could breath was taken off so the Riddler could escape

  • why would a manhole lead to a bank vault? Why would none of them swim underwater? why were batman and robin be bone dry leaving the bank vault and why did they need no air tanks? lot of plot holes here

  • Where did the air tanks and scuba masks go when the Riddler and his henchmen came out the tunnel and back to their vehicle? It seems to little of a space for three people to take off their gear while they are climbing back up.

  • I know I'm in the minority, but I actually liked John Astin's Riddler better. John Astin seemed to capture the essence of the Riddler without going overboard.

According to Adam West, John Astin was: "...as funny, and friendly as could be, and gave the Riddler his own twist."

  • @eternalhalloween1 I AGREE WITH YOU! ASTIN IS PERFECT! GORSHIN IS TOOOOOOO ANNOYING!

  • @veganisextremelygood Thanks. I think John Astin was smart to tone the Riddler down a notch. Astin made the Riddler less of a caricature. I also liked how Mr. Astin made the Riddler more suave and sophisticated.

In fact, I can't help but think the John Glover Riddler (of the animated series) used John Astin's Riddler as the model for the character in the GREAT episode "If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?"

  • How can you walk inderwater? They should be swimming dont you think?

  • thats not gold! D: it'd be hard to hold! ive held a tiny tiny piece of gold before, boy was it heavy!

  • Da na na na *Click click*.

  • Greatest. Fight Scene. Ever.

  • This video cuts the amazing line: "Only The Riddler and his ilk would have such a flagrant disregard for private property! This door will have to be repaired." Should be about 6:56. Shocking.

  • creative!

  • i like the other guy that played the riddler better!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can see a mixture of Gomez Addams and The Riddler in John Astin's acting. Entertaining to see, but Frank Gorshin is the one with the voice for The Riddler.

  • John Astin?.... uhhh NO* Frank Gorshin.always will be the Riddler!

  • One of my favourite fight scenes!

  • Its the Riddler! *Snap Snap*

  • lets be fair if jhon aistin was to do excactly what gorshin did ( producers ) then nowa days we would all say he was copying not creating something diffrent and thats what he did ok theres somebits where he dose sound wooden but the rest he dose a original perfomance shame in the acting buissnes no one can win

  • This show was so hokey, but I couldn't wait for the next episode

  • Actually Astin acts more like the real Riddler from the comics. I think Astin turned in a great performance as a much more villainous and fiendish Riddler.

  • Astin was a good idea for an villan but not the Riddler they should have mad him something else. The Riddler takes a special kind of actor, kind of like how if it were not for Jim Carrey I don't think anyone else could have played him in more modern times.

  • Astin as Riddler is ...weird.

  • John Astin is funny as hell, gotta love those wild eyes!

But as we all know, John will always be Gomez, and Frank will always be Riddler (at least the Riddler we know from this series)

  • John Astin was a very diffrent but very good Riddler, in no way as manic as Frank, but still great. Nevertheless, Frank will always be the Riddler, and John will always be Gomez Addams.

  • a banq-uet...this is why no other hero is as super as the darknight

  • FanOfBats, do you know how they filmed the fight scene? I was thinking it looked like they did a regular fight (except they were wearing wet suits) and put it in slow motion. But the water and bubbles? We could easily do it nowadays, but back in the 60's?

  • @missalabamabeenie filmed through an aquarium.

  • @griffincomics Ah... I was thinking they would have to be inside, but now I get what you're saying... like, they filmed the scene through a wall of water. Got it. Thanks!

  • wow, Batman screws up over and over in this episode: to work out a geometric puzzle, you'd work it out deductively, not inductively.

  • HAHA!! Fighting 'underwater' so fake!! Everything's in slowmotion, even the music! :D Lol

  • Talk about money laundering.

  • LOL! Faux underwater fighting!

  • Dont get me wrong, John Astin is a great and credible actor, but Riddler he is NOT. Frank Gorshin is/was too damn iconic as the prince of puzzlers.

  • dosent make sense why have wet money its usless the dollers would rip easy.

  • I think the paper used for bills is more durable than regular paper.

  • A Golden Calf always means trouble. I really enjoy John Astin. It's a shame he had to fill Gorshin's shoes. This way he never had a chance. He should have gotten to play an original character instead.

  • That was the best fight scene i have ever seen in my life

  • This might just be me but wouldn't everybody be floating up instead of standing at the bottom?

  • 'BANKWET'! Come on, that's awesome!

  • this show is so funny lol putting money while underwater into a waterproof sack

  • they are not even wet and there is no point for the water proof sack

  • Let me guess, they just moved slowly and placed a fish tank in front of the camera or something like that.

  • only Frank Gorshin is the best Riddler

  • LOL! the special effects are so funny a water screen lol.

  • I agree Jeff051176 now that riddler was so good as his role a mad man bent on making and discovering puzzles and life's secrets, GENIUS! Especially the actor you go Frank Gorshin. Remero plays The Joker better because of that crazy laugh and gestures HA HA! oops that was Remero in my head, and Catwoman as Julie Newmar, her voice is purrrrfect for her role and what a beautiful woman! All great actors! :D

  • again this is only episode to have an underwarer bat fight, wow 2 unsual situations in same show!

  • call me crazy, but i dig astin as the riddler more than gorshin. gorshin should have played the joker. his version of the riddler was a far better version of the joker then romero's(no offense intended). the riddler should be a bit more subdued in the way that astin plays him.

  • dosent the riddler know that the money is already wet. whats the use of a waterproof sack if its already wet!

  • Gotta love the fire extiguishers as scuba air tanks. How cheaply made was this show?

  • You should see the third season episodes. Budget was cut even more

  • No offense to John Astin, but Frank Gorshin will always be the best riddler.

  • I agree with you on that fact

  • Yes... John Astin is a great actor but it's Gorshin whou trully made the Riddler.

  • yea plus he could have at least shaved tha stache

  • @Jeff051176 He used to be on the Adams Family TV show!

  • @Jeff051176 No offense to Frank Gorshin, but this is my favorite episdoe with the Riddler. John Astin rules.

  • @eternalhalloween1 In my opinion, Astin was awful!

  • I don't mind talking to you, but we're probaby not going to agree on this.

We're probably better off accepting that you like Frank Gorshin, and I like John Astin.

  • "GLURP"

  • I'm definitely not a fan of that suit and his mustache.

  • 2:19 reveals ridder's psychology- likes to kill with puzzles. nolan can work with this in the third movie.

  • Haha, gotta love the underwater Batfight!!

  • Hmm...this cuts out a little bit where they leave the room at the start and run into Gordon, telling him the Riddler's back. Just a tiny scene but just pointing it out.

  • Yeah, these were taken from severely cut encodes from TVland. There are Canadian encodes around but none of this episode on here.

  • ill say one thing for this story.

its based off the first comic book apperence of the ridller.

the crossword puzzel, the 'bank wet', the egals nest riddle, the captured man,

all this is from the first riddler comic.
