  • Super sir, drenched by love and happyness

  • excellent ! very talented, and traditional way of hindolam presented very well..

  • did anyone know the sounding box are(just behind the player).thank you.

  • excellent.

  • 2:20 - 2:23 was magical !

  • so modest and deep, we feel very touched and impressed...

We will show it to our son playing the violin, to be inspired by your playing and your example of personality. thank you!

  • wooww!!!!!!!! great

  • Super sir, this is so beautiful just gives unexplainable happies to brain.

  • Amazing TKV sir.....brought me to a different world...this is one of my favorite raagam....gives you engery....you can melt in this......Salute!!!!!

  • wonderfully melodious... there is something divine in Hindolam.. I just close my eyes, imagine myself on the banks of the Sarayu or the Saraswati 5000 years ago meditating on the parabrahman while listening to this beautiful melody.

  • @Ooga001 you do realise that this was not composed 5000 years ago.. :)

  • @Ooga001 I love Hindolam too. Though to me. It has phrases (don't know music terms) that are melancholic and very human in a philosophical way. South Indian weddings include(d?) a piece played on Nadaswaram; it would feel as if it conveyed poignant sadness about our fleeting time here, in the midst of the celebration.. Anyhow it sets off vibrations in the brain.

  • TKV gaaru, sweet Hindolam sounding more sweeter in your violin, I am feeling lighter after listening to your violin.

  • Hey buddy I think you're holding your violin upside down.

I'm joking. This is brilliant. I want to learn how to do that. But I'm just a dumb American so I'll probably be never this good.

I wonder how to find lessons on how to play this style.

  • @NoPetrol I am teaching myself to play Viola, and holding it in the Carnatic fashion is very easy.

  • zabardast! (just recently learned this word)

  • zabardast!

  • Beautiful, Thanks.

  • i always wish if they played a little tanam after the alapana...

  • Dear TKV sir, beautiful! Thank you so much.

    my namaskaram to you.

  • It is very beautiful,

... Perhaps some of you play Carnatic Violin, if so,perhaps you could help me, I was curious, what is the advantage of holding the violin that way, as opposed to the traditional western fashion? I would really appriecate if you could tell me.

    Thanks

  • - Indian classical musicians almost always sit on the floor when performing. Thus, it makes sense that the Western style of playing where the musician is either standing or on a chair would have to be changed.

    - Carnatic violinists hold their instrument on their shoulder and against the heel of their foot. This gives much more stability than Western violin playing where the instrument is held under the chin when standing.

  • Thanks, I am very interested in this kind of music, I find it very ethereal and beautiful, I appriecate you taking the time to write that

  • @glorplaxy and to add to your points, Indian musicians, or Carnatic music, is considered divine and thus must only be approached in a respectful and reverent manner. Standing up or wearing shoes while playing instruments is considered inauspicious.

  • @sj6288 : u idiot.. malkauns is the hindustani counterpart of hindolam!

  • @shyamvenky no reason to call someone an idiot for that you asswipe.

  • is this tuned DGDG instead of GDAE?

  • this is just beautiful....

  • Does not sound like raag Hindol at all, sounds more like Malkauns.

  • Comment removed

  • malkauns is called hindolam/hindola (हिन्दोळम्/हिन्दोळ) in carnatic music.

  • Malkauns is the hindustani version of hindolam.

  • Yes you are right. It si Carnatic Hindolam equalent of Malkauns.

Hindol is different in Hindustani and NOT equal to Hondolam of Carnatic.

  • superb playing.... really awesome....

  • He speaks Telugu and he is from Andhra. However he is in Trichy AIR for past few decades. He is an exceptionally talented A-Top artiste. He is from the parampara of Sri Tyagaraja.
