@MrPinkyTurtle Ok make sure the beam is in another layer, and if u want to delete some parts of the beam, SELECT the layer of the beam or it has no effect on the beam, but only on the selected photo

Very usefull video , but to delete the parts that you don't want you can use eraser or make e selection like you did and hit delete on the keyboard.

this happened to me too, i dont think it has anything to do with the way you're editing the picture, it has something to do with photoshop. look up a an answer on google, because i honestly dont remember how i fixed it.

i remember i restarted my computer, but it really didnt do anything.
