This how I felt when I saw the first eruption,"Uh Oh!" At least the ending was happy and I was glad that most of the townspeople survived. Also, I just wanted to say that LEGO should have made Dante's Peak figures, vehicles, certain destinations that were seen in the film that you could build and use for re-enactments.

Yeah, and I dont think an earth quake that big would destroy the bridges but leave most of the buildings standing. (the only bulidngs destroyed after the bridges were a church, few homes. The hotel sign fell. thats about it.

While the church was destroyed, a lot of buildings were also destroyed in the subsequent scenes following the freeway scene, especially 2:14 with the City Hall, some realty office in 2:22 and a row of buildings in 2:25.

Are you looking at something that says Vancouver, Washington? Thats just where they filmed a couple short scenes of the Cascades Volcano Observatory. All of the town scenes were done in Wallace, Idaho. A few of the volcano shots were also filmed at Mount St. Helens, and Mt. Adams can be seen in the scene where Harry and his crew are setting up seismometers.

This movie was so much better then the movie "Volcano" that came out about the same time. It just didn't get the hype that "Volcano" did! Some of the best special affects I've seen. They just did an awesome job of blending digital effects, miniture effects, and real effects.
