A good portion of the New Testament is apologetic in nature. I guess that means that GOD says we need apologetics in the local Church. There is my 10 second apologetic. ;-)
good clip. I've been pushing others to do the same and question "why they believe what they believe"
this is the foundational assertion I made to myself growing up in the church system that made me fall away---I had no idea why I believed what I believed and it caused me to become a nihilist. It's upsetting when a person grows up IN the church system and doesn't know what the Gospel truly is until they're 22.
@michaeldavidgantt It is not vain to gather with fellow believers. It is commanded in scripture. However, it is vain when the heart is not truly a part of the gathering or when the service does nothing to encourage spending time with God.
@skelittle Actually, there is only one verse in the entire Bible that speaks to church attendance: Hebrews 10:25. Moreover no church today even obeys this one verse because it says to assemble together, and, as we all know, churches assemble separately. There are thousands upon thousands of different Christian denominations. Therefore, there is nothing biblical about what they are doing. Instead of church, we ought to be seeking the kingdom of God.
@michaeldavidgantt How many times would you like scripture to repeat "not giving up meeting together"? Yes, churches assemble separately; that doesn't negate the fact that they meet together. Instead of viewing church as a place we should be going to, we ought to realize that we ARE the Church.
'Most people don't know what they believe, much less why they believe it.'
I have found that true from across the board: Christians, atheists, humanists, -Muslims and Mormons and other cultists, etc.

We should teach people to have faith in Christ, not faith in the church.
Churchgoing is put on a par with Bible reading and prayer. It shouldn't be. There is no virtue in churchgoing. It is a vain ritual.
