@koalabear4159 I got Bella at 6 months of age so she was ready to go by that time. All it took for her was to see another dog in the water.
If I were you, I'd simply introduce your puppy to water at an early age (a couple of months) in a very safe and calm way. e.g walk along a lake and/or a slow moving river. Let them run in and out of the water at their own pace. When they feel comfortable and confident, they will start "swimming". Don't make it stressful for them. Good luck and enjoy!
im getting a male portuguese water dog in about 3 months. how old do they have to be before they can start swimming?
