  • who ever edited this video had way too much time on their hands. PISS OFFFFFF

  • To yankmeallday28: Illinois is most certainly not "better" than Arizona in men's basketball. Just count up the the number of Final Four (and beyond) appearances over the past 20 years or so and you'll see exactly what I mean. Plus, ZERO championships for Illinois. That alone is enough to blow your case outta the water. Give it up pal. You ain't got a leg to stand on. You're obviously just grouchy and bitter because Illinois hasn't won anything, ever.

  • @joeblow166 just shut up. ur just pissed that illinois had an amazing comeback against them, thats all it is.

  • @joeblow166 Big Ten basketball is a little different than Pac Ten..See when you go 28-3 every year in an easy conference (like ARI) you get the high seed and 3 easy games in the tournament...you only have to win maybe one game in the tournament and your in the final 4.....simple huh?

  • @joeblow166 arizona plays in the pac 10....easy conference...should be 30-2 every year and get to final fours with #2 seeds..its expected of you. The big ten however is for the BIG BOYS..you gotta earn it every year as a 5 or 6 seed.

  • @level9statedept Dude, Pac 10 had the best basketball confrence that year. They might not have the best now but they did. Even people talked about it on ESPN over and over..

  • @joeblow166 man you comment on every damn illinois vs arizona video. get a life and stop hating

  • @joeblow166 Dont even waste you time with these little kids. They try and act like Illinios is a power house when they are not even close. They had one good year and now they act like they are awesome. Arizona has tradition and the only reason they are not doing so good right now is because they had 4 coaches in 4 years. They will be back on top soon. Still wish they would have hired Josh P. for the head coach. He got a shit load of awesome recruits for Memphis

  • @AzonaCATS10 Maybe the best college basketball team of all time.....offense, defense, shooting...you name it...ILLINOIS had (and has) it....Coach Weber is reloading again for another run. Arizona pussycatz play Oregon and Usc and washington....6 times a year...oh dont forget New mexico State.

  • @mulder1021 Best college team of all time? Are you kidding me, they lost and didn't even win it all idiot. And they couldn't compete with UCLA back in the day. And you dont even know who we play idiot. Its the pac10, not the pac4. We don't even play New Mexico State lmao More like UCLA, Arizona State, Cal, USC, Oregon, Oregan St, Washington, Washington State, and Stanford. Your lack of college basketball is insulting. Your other comment was just as stupid as this one. BTW this is Azona.

  • @mulder1021 maybe, i mean mayybeee one of the better backcourts of all time? but best team... haha they didnt even win it? Nobody will take you seriously if you keep talking like that

  • @AzonaCATS10 Illinois doesn't have tradition? You have won one championship.. that would be the same as being good one year, hypocrite. The ESPN/Sagarin All-Time Rankings: 6 Illinois.. 49 Arizona. Your tradition is called the Lute Olsen era our tradition is from 70 some odd years of basketball. You guys will rebuild sometime soon but we will be back at the top this year.

  • @nmullins20 illinois wont be back at the top until they can actually pull in state recruits... in the meantime arizona just beat duke to go to the elite 8.

  • @AzonaCATS10 Yeah..you be as bad as memphis at the moment. Trust me they aren't as good as they were hyped. Antonio Barton is probably the best of them and he was a 3 star recruit. As far as Illinois tradition..Illinois is currently 13th on the wins list in NCAA history with 1600+ and a .653 win pct. Arizona is at 24 1500+ and .630 win pct. Both are equally rich in tradition and success. Illinois has just been a long term tradtion where arizona gained most of its success in lute's tenure (1983)

  • joeblow why do you post stupid comments on EVERY SINGLE Illinois vs. Arizona video.......4 years and the pain still lingers? Maybe its because you know Arizona won't be in the Elite 8 for a while. Get it through your head that Illinois was (and still is better) than Arizona in mens basketball.

joeblow166= what happens to you when you live with your mom for 35 years

  • joeblow? The name says it all.

  • Nothing except ifs, ands, and buttheads from Illinois. "If Augustine" was on the floor, "if" Sean May weren't getting away with murder, "if" this and "if" that then Illinois would've been champs in 2005. Yup, a long list of "ifs" is the hallmark of a losing, whining, delusional fan base. Excuses, excuses, excuses...blaming refs for your team's shortcomings, and then crying about that very same thing when fans of other teams do it. Hypocrite, thy name is Illini.

  • @joeblow166 " if arizona would have beat illinois in the elite 8" surprised u didn't throw that one in their cause it seams like ur sayin it. and yeah arizona had their chance to knock off the #1 overall seed in the tournament, up 15 with 4 minutes left, but no they blew that. illinois was obviously better than arizona if they beat them. arizona = choke in this game, big time

  • If Augustine was on the floor for the 34 minutes Sean May was on the floor, Illinois would have routed UNC easy. Illinois made a 15 point comeback against the so called "best team in America" without Augustine. Without a doubt, It would have went differently if he was in the game as long as May.

  • UNC was indeed the best team of 2005, no doubt about it. Illinois will be forgotten since they haven't managed to parlay the strangely halfway decent 2005 season into anything more substantial in subsequent years. This is the textbook definition of a fluke season. Too bad for the ILL that this statistical outlier didn't turn into a championship. They had their one chance; they blew it. The Illini seem mired in obscure mediocrity ever since.

  • Illinois fans do love to ratchet up their sensitivity to f'in poor reffing when it comes to the UNC game, but remain resolute in their assessment that the refs did a fine job in the Arizona game. Yup, textbook hypocrisy at its finest. Waahhhh wahhh wahhh....Sean May ran all over poor James Augustine. Boo hoo hoo. Sheesh, what a bunch of dense hypocritical losers, you Illini lot.

  • Nah, UNC had our asses that game, no need to blame it on the refs. I won't let that petty excuse take anything away from our Elite 8 comeback or our season :)

  • @joeblow166 well at least illinois got to the national championship game unlike arizona. and yet ur still complaining about illinois fans bitchin' bout the UNC game when thats all ur doin bout illinois beating arizona

  • @20ddh23 At least Arizona actually has won a national championship and made it to the final 4 more then once..

  • @AzonaCATS10 illinois has gone to more than one final four too...

  • i'm a die hard illini fan, and i must say: UNC was better THAT GAME against illinois. illinois was by far the best team ALL YEAR. possibly 1 or 2 calls against sean may wouldve sent illinois to the line and then at the end illinois wouldnt hafta worry about getting closer with the 3 and taking like 4 3's in the last minute or so. as for the arizona game, i'm tired of hearing crybabys whine about how the ref's weren't fair to arizona that game. illinois was better, get the fuck over it.

  • Comment removed

  • lemme tell u wat.. if u fuckers wanna run ur mouth about illnois how about u look back at that year they went 37-2 and ur basically saying o illnois got lucky.. thats not luck dude thats skill i dont think anyone can get lucky 35 times

  • Illinois didn't deserve to win the final because UNC was superior. And Illinois didn't win. Fouls were called both ways, much unlike the Arizona game in which Illinois, the media darling that year, didn't have any of their numerous obvious fouls called in the final 4 minutes. If Arizona gets just one of the many calls they deserved then Illinois doesn't win that game. A disgraceful performance by the refs is the ONLY reason ILLinois won. Justice was served in the final though. GOOD!

  • amen brotha

  • illinois rocks they worn't getting killed though they just had to make it look dramatic if illinois actually tried they game would have been over before it even started

  • 1) You can live and die by the jumper. Obviously Illinois was hot that night.

    2) Major lols @ some people calling this team one of the best in history.

  • joeblow ur an idiot that was a great team two are ithree are in the nba and williams is one of the top thre point guards in n the league and they didnt choke the refs gave unc the game because they loved sean mae and whats he or anyone doin in the nba right now of thats right nothing they arent even in it. and every college team relies on the three thank you

  • thanks for making a video of illinois droppin 3's on you guys like nothing thats a good video arizona couldnt do anything about it

  • this illinois team IS one of the greatest teams ever, greatest 3 guard combo ever, joe blow you can stick it up your ass man, down 15 with 4 to go and they still win it, you dont even know wat you talking bout scrub

  • joeblow 166 you obviously don't know bball or greatness when you see it. The 3 guard combo of Head, Williams, and Brown made that team one of the best in NCAA history period. Your definition of greatness implies that Clyde Drexler, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Larry Micheaux "Slama Jama" Houston University team weren't one of the greatest either b/c they lost in the final four twice. Unlike the Ilinois trio, there are a couple of Hall of Famers in that group.. the point is your argument makes no sense

  • Illinois choked in the finals. Why some dummies would even consider that 2005 team one of the best in NCAA history just goes to show how deluded certain fan bases can be. What a joke. No respect to the 2005 Illini. They failed to win it all. End of story. Banished to the dark depths of runner up history. Too bad. So sorry.

  • Did you even watch the game you tard. Shaun May got away with about 10 Offensive fouls. Augistne fouled out in 8 minutes because of them and it was STILL close. Watch the game. Understand the basics. Then talk.

  • Amen. No guarantees Illinois would have won, but it wasn't a fair fight the way Augustine got reemed.

  • moron listen to yourself, ILLINOIS was hacking arizona all at the end of the game. but you seem to fail to acknowledge that. but you cry like a baby say "sean may wahh wahhh" oh shut up

  • When Ill "wacked" at Ari in the last minute (and it only happened one time) brown hit the ball...its called good defense. Now in regards to Sean "get out of my way" May...other than the 4 charges not called on him, he played well in the finals. Bottom line...Roy Williams got his early retirement present (courtesy of the NCAA) and people around the country know who the best team in the country was that year . Enough said, dont reply, I aint got time for people who didnt actually watch that game.

  • you are a faggot

  • go illini

  • that illini team was one of the best teams in NCAA history because noone even gave them a shot to even make the tournament let alone the championship game....and the illini only lost 2 games that season...do you know how hard that is to do??...that illini team was not good they were perfect and lost that championship because of bad refs....also to add the illini lost the last regular season game by one point and that was to ohio state....so illini rule get over it

  • doesnt matter if they relied on the three, what was the score? oh yeah we won, what tied the game? a three, what took the lead? a three, i agree with the guy way below me, rely on your strengths

  • best college basketball team ever! maybe michigan fab five was better but prob not the only reason ilini lost title ccuz UNC is stacked and always will be stacked but damn tht was a good year while it lasted

  • greatest comeback ever

  • Why don't you show all the misses to. In teh beginign and early second half they were taking to many 3's and not going through thier O.

  • yes. and that just shows the announcer was jumping on the bandwagon early! it proves he doesnt know how good that offense was with the 3.

  • illinois was one of the greatest college teams ever that didnt win.

  • no doubt

  • He's right you idiot.

Did they win the championship? No.

  • so your conclusion is that by using the 3 pt shot too much they failed? they nearly won the ncaa title - they would not have gotten that far w/o the 3.

  • I agree with that, but however, they relied on the 3 too too much, and it bit them on the end, and should'v in the Arizona game if they knowed how to close the game.

  • what other options did they have? give it to roger powell?! their three best players were gaurds who shot the three so you play to your strength

  • illini haters just shut the fuck up it was a great team and you know it you just wanna pick apart their imperfections

  • damn straight

that was the best team to ever play and yall know it

  • UTAH JAZZ WINS

  • well.. threes are typically a recipe for losing. But not with this amazing team. That was possibly the best long range shooting team in college history.

Too bad the shots weren't dropping at St. Louis. :(

  • Spe92002 is an idiot.

Nice video...I can never get enough of that comeback. What a great year for the Fighting Illini.

  • Seriously I'm a huge Illinois fan and this was definately one of the greatest Illini Bball moments. I don't see whats wrong with relying on the three if they can hit it.

  • the funny thing about that "too much reliance thing" is that almost every 3 they took was an open look... if you got 4 starters who can hit the 3 like illinois did, why wouldn't you take it? stupid bias announcer who wanted Arizona to win... Arizona collapsed with Illinois got hot...

  • Funny thing is all you Illini fans are so upset about how Bilas said that, but he is exactly right. Take a look at the National Championship game. That'll show you all the reliance Illinois had on the three when they went 18-50 from three and got their asses kicked. That's called relying too much on the three and not being a good enough team to overcome a bad shooting night.

    BOOM

  • yeah every1 knows there big men got screwed and thats y they lost...how can u win a game wen all of ur big men are on the bench....and just so u kno they didnt get their asses kicked if luther head would of made his last three he took it would b nc tryin to go for a last shot not illinois

  • dude, losing by 5 is not getting their asses kicked. just think, they shot that badly from 3 and still only lost by 5.

  • hey if ur gonna make fun of a team get the stats right they were 12-40 from 3. and its ok everyone ignore the fact that UNC shot over 3 times as many free throws that game. (and losing by 5 is nowhere near getting ur ass kicked u dumb fuck)

  • jay bilas is a bum

  • lol nice video.
