This is probably what I am looking for. Does this work between carpet, slate tiles, and laminate flooring (yes all 3 )as well? The two hard surfaces are of the same height.
Knock the nails back on the strip and put another strip on top, than slap in some mud. It will take a few hours. With that extra time, I can usually find something else to do. But like I said, it depends on the price. If I can buy it cheap in bulk, it would be worth concidering. If you're charging an arm and a leg for a shim, I'ld have to say, "no."
I just had an after thought. I guess I can buy some and offer the optional solution to the customer at an added cost.

All of my flooring transition problems according to the title. I guess all of my transition problems would include carpet then.

Complete rubbish, all thats needed is a little bit of ply or hardboard and with a quality carpet and quality underlay the problem is solved.

I just pull up some carpet where they used overlapping layers of roofing felt. It worked great.
