I have George's full collection and Maya Love has always been an all time favorite. The slide guitar, the electric piano & the LA Express on horns is simply fantastic!!!
I think with Dark Horse, George decided to go back and make a Rock N Roll album after the folky pop of Material World. The Scorsese doc seemed to indicate this was made in the midst of a coke binge in Harrison's attic studio.
i really like this song..i like the album "DARK HORSE" it was a meaningful, sincere disc with some very good tunes..this one stood out..GEORGE HARRISON was always my favorite BEATLE..this album, the aftermath of his break-up with his wife after CLAPTON, snatched her away..HARRISON, said he heavily drowned his sorrows. had tickets to see him in CLEVELAND, when he toured in 74 but alas it was snowed out..
my love is like the sea, flowing in and out of me/my love is like the day--first it comes, then it rolls away--my love is like the wind, blowing hard on everything. Okay ,George now we know why I was IN (Maya)LOVE with you for all these years!
Freedom from the distraction of external points of reference, yet never failing to recognize their ultimate importance in our life and its ability to sustain us. A delicate dance, a movement as whimsical and tenuous as wispy fog, as it grips us tightly when failing to pay attention. Pay attention to what? Again distraction, and misdirection as we flit about like moths trying to find heat on a cold night. All of this matters and none of it matters -- it simply is what it is, not for you or I.
It's hard to believe how Rolling Stone ripped Harrison for this music. They describe his guitar playing as "graceless" and the album as "disastrous." Mmm, okay. Granted, maybe not his best album, but still plenty of good stuff like this one. At least now he gets the respect he deserved.

@urthmx4evr Maya, in Hinduism, is the illusory physical world. It is not real. I hope you aren't in "maya love" with George!

Rolling Stone is full of shit, what do you want? They also tore Led Zeppelin to shreds. *tosses their magazine across the room*
