Now that i have laid the background, the Quran respects the status of Jews and Christians but criticizes the prevalent beliefs which are not in cognizance with their original belief which were no different than ours i.e God is one. Having said that, if a non-muslim is not prejudiced and somehow didn't receive the true message of Islam due to any reason, God is just. He would not do injustice. The important thing is that we should all pray to God to guide us and we should not be prejudiced.

[2nd part] The problem today muslims have with christians and jews is that the original teachings were not preserved and hence the original message of jesus was lost. As a result, the one thing that was supposed to be common between us i.e worshipping one God and only Him is not common today. Regarding non-muslims, it goes down to that individual's belief. Many christians deep down believe that there is only one God and he alone is to be worshipped. They don't even know that they are muslims.

[1st part] In islam, the view point and the way quran addresses different categories of non-muslims is clearly distinguishable. Islam considers jews and christians specifically as the 'people of the book' since they received divine books from the same God with the same message of oneness of God. The unforgivable sin in islam is 'shirk' which means associating partners with the one God, attributing His powers to others ; also called polytheism. The other sins, God can forgive if he wills.

Many ppl in the west are not comfortable with the word Allah. We should not impose on them to call the one true Lord as 'Allah' if they aren't comfortable with the term. In Torah, the word 'Jehovah' is used for the same Lord. In the Bible, it is 'Yahuwa Elah'. I could not understand what your objection was. 'We r the creation of one God', which directly makes the God our creator. I don't see anything wrong in this statement , rather i think you needlessly misunderstood it.

Thats exatly what i think. The word Allah now is unfortunatly linked with terrible images. It does not help ignorant Muslims chanting Allah Akbar over any rational conversation.
