  • This commercial is silly

  • I still drink the old fashion pepsi. the throwback. lol

  • I love James ,but he was a little awkward in this.

  • i wonder if that stuff tasted different back than.

  • He was even epic in this

  • Now I Want A Pepsi-Cola!

  • is this really

  • What a charming commercial!!!

  • Fonzy inspiration? he hit the piano like the Fonz hits the record machine!

  • now pepsi is better than coca cola ;D

  • Damn, I was sure born in the wrong decade.

  • @hiddenaffections Yeah, I'm thinking the same about me.

  • in the 50-ties the women were hot

  • WE ALL HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE ?. ITS WERE WE FINISH THAT COUNTS ! CAN YOU IMAGINE ? IF HE HAD LIVED.. The one and only James Dean.. colindaleradiosutch.

  • @colindaleradiosutch he would have shaken this world to its core. :')

  • this is really effective

    i want a pepsi now!

  • @ruzasp coca cola what? :b

  • Not one of the better commercials I've seen from the early 1950s, but anyway...James Dean did a lot of TV work in the early 1950s, doing acting roles in dramatic anthology series, including an episode of "General Electric Theatre" with Natalie Wood as his co-star!

  • JD was so sexy.

  • L...O....L that's funny :) the little dance n all

  • I´ve always loved Pepsi !

  • Love the old sweat stain under the arm on the dancing woman's dress at 0:36 - no antiperspirant back then - deodorant was only anti-smell cloaking device and underarm sweat stains were a problem for everyone. Men just let it ride but some women bought these devices that strapped on around the bra and back that positioned padding under the arm to absorb sweat thereby keeping the underarm area less wet.

  • This was originally seen during "THE FAYE EMERSON SHOW", a weekly 15 minute late night interview show sponsored by Pepsi-Cola on CBS.

  • Pepsi started in 1898.

  • @Poodleinacan yeah and... this commercial was filmed 1950

  • @teendramafreak89

You recognize that he was doing a commercial and not ACTUALLY had fun here...

  • coke is better

  • James is so funny with this song

  • Could someone point out the time stamp on James Dean? I am having a hard time finding him?

  • @Drivermatic James is there fom 0:01-0:20. He's the one on the right side of the piano next to the girl :) And he slams his hand down at 0:13 too lol.

  • Comment removed

  • wow that was pretty white..

  • I hope to god he did that gig high.

Nobody's that enthusiastic about some damn pop.

  • Wonder if that woman knew who she was ignoring -- to go dance with that shmuck.

  • "buy pepsi by the COTTON!" (i know its carton, but sounded like cotton...must be the new york accent!!)

  • He was exactly my age in this commercial - 19! :-D

  • I am seriously baffled... how/why has this video received such rude, irrelevant posts? I'm not disturbed by the language being used (I could potty-mouth all of you idiots under the table!!), but HOW it's being used. If you have something to say that actually relates to the subject being discussed, well, go for it. If you need to talk trash, please take it out to the street so it can be swept to the dump where it belongs!!

  • @cybaker1982 Damn you just "Terminated" every negative comment in the past and in the future..Be sure to update this every two months!! I would like to say, why would any trash talk this?? 1st, its a simple Pepsi Commercial, 2nd..James Dean worked very hard to get that role...3rd..it's JAMES DEAN..every girl wants him and every guy wants to be him!!!

    Brooklyn

  • haha "pepsi it will make you popular and pretty girls will dance with you! isn't that swell!"

  • Now I know where my mom gets 'more bounce to the ounce' from. ha!

  • Just imagne that my parents dance in your teenage years like that, HA! so clean and conservative.

  • When I watched this video, I laughed. I don't know why, but I laughed.

  • I fuckin hate pepsi... Ibstraight up hate all pop.

  • @MrBeau16 Why?

  • @KaylaGoranson Just Google these words"Pepsico boycott". There are reasons abound.

  • James Dean did everything in a weird way!

  • It's Fonzies dad! lol

  • Kyosen Ohasi が、昔、世界まるごと二十世紀で、このCMには誰が出演しているか問題に出した。私、学生の頃、English red point 赤アカ、ムルアカ点、フフフ、外人は何を言ってるのか分かるまい。

  • good grief!

  • i came here hoping to see a cool old commercial with a young James Dean... back in the "good old days," and after reading so many nasty comments, I wish I had a time machine. I'm not a perfect lady, but I sure as hell don't talk like the trash on this board. Sad to grace this page with filth.

  • I have no idea who is james Dean, but all i know is the guy that hits the piano has something!! who was james dean?

  • @freedomland11 You're a homo. Trying to act like you can spot talent. The guy that hit the piano is James Dean and you know that so stop being a skunked twat.

  • @TheGreatZurEnRaah HAHAHA, you actually think I knew he was james Dean? didn't i say clearly I didn't know him. I just thought he hit the piano really hard, you Twat!!

  • @freedomland11 Seriously if you don't know who the fuck James Dean is believe me when I say that you are the twat you ignorant fucking cunt.

  • @freedomland11 wow, you slags would really impress James if he were alive, with your FILTHY language. Makes me want to go back to the days when this commerical was made, and I'm no prude. You speak like pure trash!

  • @elissalogan haha...Ms. elissa James Dean was a legend in his own right. This commercial proves it ;)

  • nice

  • Jimmy! He's so out of his element in this commercial but he was adorable and gorgeous here too.

  • Pepsi sure knows how to pick um!

  • coca- cola is better than pesi !!!!!

te lo dice uno que vive cerca de Fuenla....

ahora vas y lo cuentas to yours friends

  • Pepsi is better than Coke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LoL..you know it was his first acting gig...cuz he wasn't even on "que" with the singing...and he looked arkward dancing...R.I.P.Jimmy...and Happy belated Birthday....

  • James Dean, so handsome.

  • it IS Hans Conreid... I think. You can tell Uncle Tonoose by the way he moves

  • can anyone tell me where I can see the south african commercial about what James Dean's life would be if he didn't die?

  • I LOVE JAMES DEAN!!!

  • @princezzwh I love him too!!!

  • I've read in the book that I got that Hans Conried was in a pepsi commercial in the 1950's, and he's the one dancing with the girl in the beginning ^^

  • yeah!

  • i just love these vintage commercials i really loved all the beautiful dreses and outfits of the 50's i think it wuld be cute if the fashions repedated the 50's

  • I agree. I like how the men and women both wore distinct clothing. Everyone just seemed so classy then.

  • OMG!! Hans Conried is in this commercial!!! this is EPIC!!!

  • @DrAngel23 Where? All I see is teenagers for the early 50's?

  • Awesome classic TV

  • why damn it Why?

  • kidny stones

  • That blonde has an incandescent smile!

  • never saw this commercial before.

  • James was gorgeous... is gorgeous.

  • ...and that's what I call a REAL commercial! :D

  • Yeah! No manipulation...!

  • its so mind boggling at how quickly he because a heart throb, he starred in what..3 movies? and just in that time, living only 18 months in hollywood, he is still remembered today and will always be. there is something surreal about him that i want to know more about, but of course id only have to ask him myself..

  • I think thats what makes him more appealing the mystery

  • the first modern superstar? ahead of his time? maybe

  • I love u james dean!

  • Actually she seems to have more bounce to the ounce.

  • james dean<3

  • *slowly smiles wider and wider*

  • The Deaner lives on

  • "So why take less, when Pepsi's best?"

This was right about the time that the Pepsi-Cola company was about to go bankrupt for the 3rd time. Obviously they managed to recover, though.

That's not a jukebox that James Dean puts money into, at the beginning. It's a player piano. Jukeboxes played records. This is just a piano. And it was already old-fashioned at the time, which is why it doesn't run right and he has to whack it. He's really excited when it starts playing the Pepsi song, too.

  • i love the way he slams his hand on the piano

  • its The Fonz in the 50s

  • Very good to remind of the old times!

  • That was Jimmy whackin' the piano.

  • where is he?

  • he is who hit the pianino at the beginning... i guess. :)

  • wow deff bandwagoning that shit

  • i love u James Dean

  • o___o omg and he wasn´t even appearing much o_O thanks for sharing!ñ_ñ amazing

  • She get passed around more than a joint.

  • lol Drink pepsi for it will make you bounce to the ounce!!!!

Man this is a rap song waiting to happen.

  • it already is a funk song its called more bounce to the ounce by zapp and roger. I bet you've heard it before.

  • "More Bounce to the Ounce"......Thanks so much for posting this. This is historic American advertising.

  • and I love how it says "Drink" on the box as if people are retards and dont know what to do with it.

  • lol pepsi bounce

  • yeah, that'd make em sell like hotcakes.

  • Wouldn't it be cool if Pepsi put this commercial on the air again??? At the beginning have them put up text saying that this it's James Dean and then during the commercial have an oval light brighten up which one is dean. Think about it, it would be cool for one, to just have an old commercial air, but the fact that it's the NOW, LEGENDARY James Dean promoting your product!!!!

  • @elvisfan22 thatd be really cool but i guess there will be legal rights involved.

  • pepsi for the bounce and the pounds? lol i can see why people are getting fat! xD

  • hahah oh that made me laugh :D

  • i know huh. but it was a start for him. hah

  • Very cheesy but fun LOL

  • why were commercial so long back in the days? LOl love them!

  • Oh wow, that's lame as hell. Pepsi Bounce, it only reminds of diabetes.

The Cuba Cola stands supreme, it's better than both Coca Cola and Pepsi, but is probably just here in the North. Atleast by Krönlein's.

  • Ohh, James Dean :P

  • i want that

  • Somethings never change...

  • How old fashioned and corny! He looks like James Franco in the first twenty seconds. Ther are random moments when Franco looks like him.

  • Franco played Dean in a movie

  • Yeah, and the movie was total crap.

  • he won a golden globe for it.

  • So what, it was still crap, gg or not. Taylor Hicks won American Idol and his music is total crap. Just because the media says dudes cool, does not make them cool or talented in my book-think for yourself. Franco is an okay actor, but the movie itself was totally forgettable, not to mention that there are so many myths about Dean that only insiders know.

  • Wow really? I was just thinking how much they looked like each other.

  • Which one is Jimmy?

  • the one who puts the money in the jukebox at the beginning

  • This advert actually makes me want to dance LOL

  • haha imagine if we still had commercials like this.

well, we do still get the horribly corny ones, but this is cute.

  • Beer is better.

  • gross.

  • Actually, no, I didn't HAVE to reply. You seem pretty bent out of shape over one word. Lighten up, Francis.

  • Come on kizdude...what else is the point of saving the comments then ?

    btw..you were right, beer''s better ;]

  • Very funny, never could imagine that Jimmy would do a part like this.

  • Hahahha he got paid 10 bucks for this commercial. Which comes to around 80 bucks in our time.

  • these commericals seem more effective as well

  • people were too happy back then lol. they sang about EVRYTHING!

  • bad cola, great commercial

  • I wish commercials were still like this. New commercials are awful... There are a few funny ones, but most of them are for no good...

  • he probably felt like a jerk doing this commercial

  • I love Pepsi.

  • He looked so cute! Bless! :)

  • James appears @ 0:47 too?? i think is the guy on the right side

  • He's the one who put the coin in the juke box/piano. Then he did a nice grinning slight-dancing bit. Their kind of dancing at least.

  • Their kind?

  • The 50's, innocent but lots of fun portrayal Coca Cola wanted to have. Drink Coke, you'll have fun like them.

  • Hahaha...this is cute! James singing along the Pepsi Cola song is cute!

  • That was sweet, nothing's more American than Pepsi Cola and James Dean.

  • Coca-Cola

  • thanks to all of you guys!

  • omg ive wanted to see this for ages!

    its great!

    :D

    x

  • I have loved James Dean since my dad introduced me to Rebel Without a Cause...when I was in high school (about 1983, I think). I had no idea this existed til I read Wikipedia and the link was there. Thank you so much!

  • Now thats a classic.

  • "Dream as though you will live forever, Live as though you will die today" ~James Dean~

  • yea sure i can fix you a date with him if you want to girl... 0_0

  • ROFL!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHHH

  • I beg to differ, - he was certainly driving a piano
