Who the heck is Earl Booth? I guess I can look him up on IMDb to see what season this is, but I thought Stephen Kandel was the head writer whenever I watched "Cannon," with Gene somebody as an story editor on the last season or two.
@stevevandien There are tv channels in Chicago called Me-TV and Me Too that play Cannon and Hawaii 5-0 and a host of other classic television programs. These two stations are in the process of going nation wide.
Conrad's obesity then would now be considered "normal" by majority of Millions of obese Americans, especially the young who think its hip, cool, gangish to be fat.
I really loved Frank Cannon. Especially the way his Lincoln limo swayed on its soft suspension when he got in and out. No but really, it was an unfailingly entertaining show .. I hope I can get it on DVD Region 2 for Europe. Can anyone advise?
I love how cops were all named after guns: Magnum P.I., Beretta, even Remington Steel... Then they give this guy the name Cannon... You gotta love the camp.
The opening credits are from "Hear No Evil", but the closing credits are from another second season episode, "The Shadow Man", which featured Lois Nettleton, Bert Freed and Simon Scott as the main guests.
I love the usual scene of some guy taking aim at Frank with a high-powered rifle with scope and somehow he'd miss this rather large target, then Frank would take this same guy out with his snub nose .38 revolver. Priceless...
Ah, the '70s detective shows! The super-serious fat guy (long before everyone was fat) with the swivel driver's seat so he could get his fat ass out of that oh-so-compact Lincoln! For years I thought, who could have cast that? Now, well, never mind the casting company, every pair of NYC cruisers consist of the older fat dude who struggles to get in the car (never mind out), and the rookie who appears to be about 17. Somebody's gotta be able to do the running, huh?
@Mality Cannon, Hawaii Five-0, Starsky and Hutch, Baretta and many others were my favorite shows growing up as a kid. And they all had their own style and personality. I enjoyed them.
How true! I can't tell much difference between the various cop shows on the air today! Oh how TVLand has changed. They used to show such wonderful classic shows of yesteryear. Oh the humanity... :(
TV Land is shown in a lot of old folks nursing homes,

Great guest cast in this episode. William Daniels sort of looks like Michael J. Fox in his opening credit shot.

Thank you God, that I was a child/teen of the 70's and able to watch movies like "Cannon" and "Barnaby Jones" and the others..that was the best!!!

I love the tv syndication promotional ad for the "Cannon" reruns:
"Why have a 'Magnum' when you can have a 'Cannon?'".
Cannon usually got the bad guy and gained a few more pounds in Act IV.

The Lincolns were as big as the USS Enterprise and had plenty of room.
BTW When this episode aired Alex Rocco was playing Jewish Gangster Moe Green on "The Godfatther"

And even before. I remember Chiles in the 60s on episodes of "East Side, West Side" and "The Virginian" --

Chiles made quite a few bucks due to QM Productions...he's in almost every show they did, multiple times.

From what I could tell, it wasn't until after 1973 or '74 that announcers began saying "A Quinn Martin Production" after the show title.
wmbrown6 2 years ago
Hank Simms was the erstwhile announcer, and it wasn't till '74 that he added the "Quinn Martin Production" line to both this and Barnaby Jones.
