  • Who are these rigor police ? Should I be afraid ?

  • Mathematicians are formalists (including myself). We care about absolute perfection in mathematical reasoning. Most derivations involving integration on the real line need A LOT of justification. A lot of people get bothered by rigor police because they make things more difficult. But it is justified, since without RIGOROUR arguments there might be an error. However, in physics and engineering you do not need to worry about it really. Only in math be afraid be very afraid of the police ^.^
