Size isn't so very important really. The laser technology enables it to be much smaller than ones using a lamp or even LED. When these are available in 1920x1080p or similar, I will buy one to replace my monitor and another to replace my TV. As long as they are relatively small (size of a book would be fine with me), they will sell millions as replacements for LCD screens. This with Behr Silverscreen paint on a wall will bring us that closer to a more efficient future.
I m not very informed about current technology but am really fascinated by today's innovative ideas for tomorrow...I was thinking about a micro projector based computer...with a laser projected keyboard and small mouse for a really clean and moble PC
Microvision's previous products centered around laser scanning devices so it may well be in their product development plans to develop devices very similar to what you describe.
there is no doubt this is a great product that kicks ass on all the other pocket projectors, BUT the real question is,why is it taking them so friggin long to produce it and put it in our hands???
As opposed to red and blue lasers which are commonplace, green lasers are a very young technology and hard to come by. That's been the bottleneck until now.
Both Osram and Corning have now developed compact green lasers and are ramping up to commercial production levels largely because of the projector market potential.
The pico projector demonstrated in this video (Microvision's ShowWX) will be available this fall. Their projector should show up embedded in other devices about a year later.
@whatwillbewillbe We have tons of info about the ShowWX and the new ShowWX+ over at Picopros.com - We have been doing some battery tests, etc. We agree that MicroVision NEEDS to market this thing more, especially the proprietary connector to iDevice and streaming Netflix app. Check us out...
My plan is to let Microvision give me one for free. I bought some stock (ticker symbol: MVIS) and if/when Microvision delivers this awesome product, the stock will jump more than enough for me to sell some shares and pick up one of these babies using the profits.

Does the computer charge the device while using it? Or do you need to plug it back to the wall every 2hrs or so?

Nice tech. Complete amateur hour video. Who wants to see pudgy engineers demoing a product? Hire a pro.
