  • WONDERFUL.

  • SO AWESOME. Perhaps the best sound I've ever heard come out of a bass clarinet. Perfect tone; almost impossibly clean, with double helpings of that wonderfully smooth, mellow, "earthy" clarinet timbre.

  • This is such a fun concerto to play on the bass, I know that from playing it myself. You've done a good job with it!

  • wow, i've always thought bass clarinets sounded way to vibrating without any pleasing resonance and warmth of the sound. this is done really well. good job!

  • Amazing!

  • I don't believe it... You're wonderful!

There's no way you could play better :D

  • Amazing..his tone is WOW

  • Next time somebody tells me the only thing a Bass Clarinet is good for in the bass line in a woodwind ensemble I'm referring him to this. I give this an infinite amount of stars.

  • one time I don't like about bass clarinet is that, when played standing, the bell is at the groin area. XD

  • @mtv565 I'm not sure why that is an issue...? Did you hit yourself in the balls with it? lol

  • holy. shit. my life is so pointless now. this is amazing.

  • FANTASTIC pianist

  • I am playing this piece as well, and they way it is played here is amazing. I listen to it preparing for my own concerto. Amazing xD

  • @Scandalous2610 Same here! LOL i love this piece

  • i dont particularly like the piece but it exploits a really opposite side of what mst think the bass clarinet is. its a wonderful instrument. this shows just how flexible it is. but i dont exactly like the piece xD

  • I'm going to move around like this guy when I audition for Wind Enseble...

  • I would rate it 4/5, but considering it is THE BASS one, i must give full 5 :D. Great!

  • Wow this is absolutely amazing. I play Bass Clarinet and I love playing challenging stuff on it like 1st clarinet parts for pieces like Light Cavalry Overture, but this is just beyond my comprehension....job well done.

Too bad composers don't write so many pieces that give us bass clarinet players enough of a challenge so we have to go out and steal stuff from clarinets, bassoons, and the rest. hahahahaha

  • OMG!!!!! i play bass clarinet! and i may be a girl but i am a beast at it!!!! i can really blow!!!! just like this guy! amazing! You rhigh notes sound amazing.............

  • @Clubzan21 I wish my freshman bass clarinet girls can play loud...I am their section leader and I have been trying to get them to play loud but they just can't for some reason...what's your secret to playing loud and well? hahahaha

  • @dsjlj40 thanks for the comment, I use a very light reed (vndrn 3) and I take in a lot of mouthpiece... lots of air:)

  • @dsjlj40 HAHAH I KNOW

  • OMG!!!!! i play bass clarinet! and i may be a girl but i am a beast at it!!!! i can really blow!!!! just like this guy! amazing!

  • omg i play bass clarinet and i would do anything do get myself playing as good as you man!!! awsome! the sound's great, articulation's great!

  • I love the added interpretive dance =]

  • I loved it. I've tried woodwinds from recorder to (French) bassoon, and am duly impressed. But I could imagine spending quite some time and effort to get to know the piano player.

  • very good!. i also recommend musically to work a bit on intonation on the high notes(i know its hard) and that if you are already using the bass clarinet you can exploit its charcter even more when you have low notes, it sounded a bit like they are being silent rather then present..

    great job, !

  • INCREDIBLE CONTROL I love it!

  • Great sound!

I wonder what kind of mouthpiece and what brand and bore of bass clarinet that he's using?

  • @lookingatthisnow We know it's not a Selmer USA :)

  • @lookingatthisnow

Hi, it's a Buffet Low Eb with Selmer C* MP :)

  • A LOT OF AIR!

  • Wow! I play Clarinet and Bass Clarinet!

And I think Bass Clarinet is much easier for me now, then Clarinet

But you make this piece sound so easy! especially when standing with a Bass Clarinet!

  • That's so cool!

  • amazing! and he's standing, too!

  • The upper register sounds positively divine. Well done, sir!

  • Amazing o.O

  • Strange,but not bad...

  • Nice job

  • One reason why it may be harder to tongue fast is because you may not have a great bass clarinet. The difference between the plastic student bass clarinets and a professional model is shockingly satisfying.

  • you are amazing! i play clarinet and bass clarinet and i find bass clarinet soo much harder. its hard to tongue fast, move your fingers fast, play higher notes! i love it though :D

  • how do u get your fingers to move that fast ?

  • i play bass clarinet i wish i could be as good as that!

  • @fullonfatty you can be.. just get with a good teacher and practice 2 hours daily. trust me if you do that then one day you will be on stage playing this peice. the talent is in you and i believe you will master the instrument.

  • I guess he just woke up one morning and said, "I think I'll play Weber on bass!" Definitely something you don't hear every day......

  • Had this been on clarinet, that alone would have been impressive. But bass clarinet?

    That, my friend, is talent.

  • dude, I admire you!!

Yes I am playing bass clarinet only 4 or 5 months, but I want to be REALLY GOOD at it. And the problem is that I still can't do staccato on notes higher than c2. And everything I can really play on it to sound good except orchestral sheet are: Beatles songs and some really simple music... I tried to play Kramar concert for Clarinet, but it sounds terrible. It really does. :S

So if you have some advice, please DO TELL me! And keep up the good work! This is really brilliant

  • dude....i'm calling the cops.....this is too good to be legal....

  • pretty good

  • I really enjoyed your performance. Keep up the great work.

    Grant Anderson

  • This works surprisingly well. Very nice playing!

  • Superb playing. Let me know when he makes a CD!

  • and he stands with it!

  • neck strap. :D

  • Good job!

  • where can i find this music ?

  • Really awesome! Great job! =]

  • Damn it, why are koreans so good at music

  • Thanks for your compliment!

    Actually... he is from Taiwan..

  • He's Taiwanese...

  • I am soo jealous!!! I did this piece on regular clarinet for a contest on Bb clarinet after having praciticed it on a bass clarinet for a long time. This is really awesome! Maybe someday I'll play it like ou did! :P

  • WOW ive never seen a bass clarinetist play that fast.... i myself play the B flat clarinet but wow... thts all i can say... .

  • brilliant, both bass clarinettist and pianist (and page turner :) )

  • i could never approach bass clarinet with so much confidence! it would take me months to get the courage to try something this challenging on the bass. congratulations!!!

  • Young, I supposed I shouldn't be surprised, given the talent you exhibited in my class, but what a great musician you are. I'm thoroughly impressed. However, I do have one question, and I supposed I'mdisplaying my ignorance here, but I've never seen a clarinet that looks or sounds like that. Am I right? What is it called? Dennis

  • Hey Dennis... nice to hear from you!

This is a Bass Clarinet. and If you want to hear my "real" clarinet performance you will have to see other videos of mine...

    good luck on your moving...

  • WOW you did all that without squeaking AMAZING!!!! I lob

    ve your sound btw. :D

  • very mellow sound, nicely played

  • Great Job

  • on the bass clarinet?! holy cow great job!

  • sounds great with the bass-clarient!!

  • so beautiful

  • I love this song, and your smooth, rich sound really adds to the quality of this piece.

  • superb control over the bass (: good job

  • Good job!

  • Why are there only five stars available for ratings? This guy deserves at least fourty two!

  • I love his rich sound! It reminds me of the sound of Lawrie Bloom!

  • holy crap that's amazing

  • Awesome~!!!Miss ya*^^*

  • Bravo!!!

  • I was going to give 5 stars but misstyped the keyboard!

    It was outstanding!
