Do you realize how incredibly boring sci-fi would be if it had no sound? Especially when two huge fleets are going at it? It is soley for dynamic purposes.
@Wh40kFinatic Actually, I like the fact that shows such as Battlestar Galactica and the like stay true to what would really happen. If you see a ship fire, there is no bang, just a muffled thump. You can sorta hear the vibrations and shockwaves. It creates interesting effects and reminds you that the combatants are in space.

the reason why ther is no explosion is because its in space and the explosion would be rlly quick due to the temperature in space and no oxygine
