Joe Crane played 2 guitar parts and bass, John Rewind played the faux "hawaiian" slide solo at Rodger's request, and the late great Gaylord Birch was playing drums.
Being an old friend of this songs writer ( the late Joe Bartlett Crane), I humbly ask if the poster of this song would be so good as to add the flip side, "All Toe Down" (which later became All Tore Down, a song recorded by Joe's Hoodoo Rhythm Devils and Johnny Winter (John Dawson Winter III lp). Thanks in advance.
Written by Joe Crane (run HOODOO RHYTHM DEVILS JOE CRANE on google). Stationed on CGC Reliant in SF bay, Joe cold calls Rodger from the dock on a duty night, plays him the song over the phone. Rodger digs it and records it. What I don't know is if Joe participated on the session. It sure sounds like a Joe Crane song. Joe was from Conroe, TX; a more soulful white boy would be hard to find. We lost Joe in 1980. RIP Joe.

Galaxy Records has recently been founded under Galaxy Music Group (GMG). It is modeled to be the next Universal Music Group and now has a list of subsidiaries including a full line of entertainment and record companies. It is set to be announced in early 2010 and be effective in spring of that year.
Galaxy Records was a subsidiary of Fantasy Records. It was established in 1951 and has been reactived several times. Its first incarnation was as a 1950s jazz label. It was revived again in 1961 as a gospel and R&B label. It was last active from 1978 until the mid eighties.
Very good music. This label looks like a Fantasy one in their beginings. Fantasy has recorded CCR in 60's and I think that this "Galaxy" label is is division of Fantasy!
I currently work with Mr. Collins, even now, he has a "Regal" aura around him. Great musician, even better man. He's converted, he's now a Muslim but the "foxy girls" bit him first!
Great Job Rodger.....Fred Owen in Boise Idaho....Give me a call..(208) 863-8916
