LOL @ 1:16 though, as Ted tries to get his face seen the entire time the camera is moving! By the way, who was that nervous looking broad they show AFTER him?
I purchased an autograph book from Jack Lord's estate and it has about 1/3 of these star's autographs. The one here I don't see is Steve Martin. I have his autograph but he's not in this video
From the early 1950's -Mid 1980's, CBS wasn't called "The Tiffany Network" for nothing! What CBS was and did for Television with its amazing programming & ground breaking shows & Its roster of Stars, was What Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studio was to The entire Film Industry, during its hey day from the1930-50's when it was the biggest glamorous Movie Studio in the world. Sadly, CBS isn't called "The Tiffany Network" anymore. I'm 42 & I remember as I grew up, CBS was the main Network we watched.
From the conclusion of "CBS on the Air," here are some of the Members of the CBS Family, bidding us farewell on a glorious night culminating in a fabulous helicopter shot of CBS Television City in Hollywood!
I missed seeing this when it first aired, because my grandfather died on March 26, 1978, and my family was in mourning for a week. That included NO television (and that was when "On the Air" was broadcast each evening)...so I'm happy to finally see this much, for now!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this video...AHHH to have rubbed shoulders and been in the same room with these people...Great talent that will never be again..thanks for posting!
Others..who were not at CBS's 50th anniversary tv tribute?
Paul Tripp(Kids Tv's first educator),Mark Wilson and the cast of"The Magic Land Of Alakazam",Alan Young,Red Buttons,Bill Cullen,Mark Goodson,Valerie Bertinelli,Gene Autry,Richard Simmonds(The actor.not the pys ed expert),
Ones not there? Jackie Gleason, Jack Benny, Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, Gracie Allen, Edward R Murrow, Orson Welles (Mercury Theatre), Edgar Bergen, Ed Sullivan, Desi Arnez, Rod Serling, Eddie Albert, Charlie Brown, Snoopy (I'm not kidding!), and Sonny & Cher. Alas many of these people were no longer with us by then...
Jack Benny was also dead, and so was Gracie Allen. Jackie Gleason was ticked at CBS at the time I believe. The others (with the exception of Charlie Brown and Snoopy, but Charles Schulz shouldv'e been there instead!) i don't know
Clue: they're assembled in reverse alphabetical order: Cicely Tyson, maybe Danny Thomas Loretta Switt Sally Struthers in a tux I think "Doc" from Gunsmoke Jean Stapleton A blond A heavy lady w/ a feather boa Dick Smothers Red Skelton
OK, here it goes--no ref book, no Google, nothing but middle-aged brain cells. I'll do 10 at a time b/c YT is being bitchy: Demond Wilson Some white-haired guy Betty White Dennis Weaver Ray Walston Mike Wallace Nancy Walker Ralph Waite Dick Van Dyke Vivian Vance
Yea I totally agree, why was he there, the only thing I could think of is that I think he was doing another series back then, so maybe it was on CBS, or he probably made some movies for CBS, I know he had done some movies to......
A TRIBUTE TO DAN RATHER and to BOB SCHIEFFER, how DEARS CHARLES CAROL,DEB BRADlY, JESSIKA (from NBC, how nice work she have made! Peace on your mind, never will forgiven you!)
That's a damn good line of stars.
LOL @ 1:16 though, as Ted tries to get his face seen the entire time the camera is moving! By the way, who was that nervous looking broad they show AFTER him?

@JayNJayShow That's Julie Kavner who has voiced Marge Simpson for many many years. At the time, she had appeared on Rhoda as Rhoda's younger sister.

You could never get that many big name stars together for a tv network special today. People seem to have so much more class back then.
